Paul Ryan "Busted' Lying About Stimulus Requests: OOOPS

The perfect Romney running mate

As I was developing this screed something earth-shattering, but not surprising, transpired.  The focus of the screed was the extent to which Paul Ryan is with Mitt Romney are in-sync when it comes to 'lying'.  As I was half-finished with the piece, Rachel Maddow divulged that Ryan has come clean and admitted he was not telling the truth about never requesting stimulus funds.Of course, Ryan gave a few Sarah Palin like explanations for his 'lies', but the damage was done.   He indicated his staff requested the funds! He is not in any way an honest and credible person.

Why is it some difficult for the GOP and its politicians to understand that in an electronic age, there is a record of everything?  Political lies are easily researched and revealed.  In Ryan's case  is it possible the old adage of, if you tell a lie enough, you start to believe it" been a factor. No, Ryan knew he was lying and would have stuck with the lie if the information below had not been uncovered and reported.

Most progressives and many conservatives know Mitt Romney now has the credibility of a rattlesnake.  It appears he has chosen the perfect VP candidate.  Ryan may very well rival Romney's credibility. After being placed on the national stage Ryan appears much like as a scorpion.

Since Ryan has come-clean on his lies and subterfuge, why share the back-story.  How did Ryan go about perpetrating his stimulus lie?

Let's start with Think Progress.....

Think Progress....
After Documents Show Paul Ryan Secured $20 Million In Stimulus Grants, He Claims ‘I Never Asked For Stimulus’
By Stephen Lacey on Aug 16, 2012 at 3:42 pm
On Tuesday, the Boston Globe and Associated Press reported on documents showing that GOP Vice Presidential candidate Paul Ryan had secured more than $20 million in stimulus funds for a local energy efficiency organization.

According to the reports, the documents showed that Ryan also brought in $5.4 million for local bus services. His requests came at the same time he was publicly calling the stimulus a “wasteful spending spree.”

However, in an interview with a local Ohio television news station, Ryan claimed he never secured funding through the program, saying “I never asked for stimulus.”

The visual of Romney's running in the uncomfortable mid-afternoon interview. As you watch the video think about the early days of Sarah Palin. Do you think it  actually possible Ryan had forgotten the request for stimulus funds request (four times over)?  Come on, you know better.

. . .
American voter  have come to understand politicians stretch the truth, embellish, fabricate and yes 'lie'.  We do not feel good about our politics, but it really existential, with little hope it will soon change.  However, when the likes of Mitt Romney and his selection embark on a campaign that is so obviously wrought with lies, it became a very serious matter. It becomes even more critical an issue when factored along side of Citizens United and braggadocios billionaires who brazenly spend to buy elections (Politicians).  If a candidate enters the campaign with obvious and bold levels of dishonesty replete with easily refutable lies, what are we to think once the politician is elected to office.
Romney/Ryan as candidates add another dynamic to US presidential elections.  An ultra wealthy 'vulture capitalist' who has paid millions to hide his fortune among foreign banks for the express purpose of income tax avoidance.  Romney's candidacy offers another US history first: a wife who is willing to sit on national television and show the sad side of American oligarchy and disdain for elections standards.  She interviews as if to say, "how dare you ask us such questions, we are not going to comply as compliance is outside of our reality".  And,  she adds a bit of "you people" in the communication.
Romney/Ryan is transforming US politics in ways never before witnessed.  Yet, polls indicate a tight race.
And that is unbelievable.
