Rush, The Daily Kos, "ProgLegs" And Flush Rush (Limbaugh Sponsors)

www.askmen.com
LIMBAUGH: And the way the Republicans are looking at it is that they think that Hispanic immigrants are made-to-order conservatives. For some reason, culturally, they think that they're invested in hard work. And using the Cuban exile model, they're exactly right. But the Hispanic demographic, if you will, or population, has shifted. And the Cuban exile model is no longer the dominant model. The Mexican immigrant model is. And that -- they arrive with an entirely different view of America. And I'm sorry if this is offensive, but it's true.

And I'm not just asserting it. The scholarly research from academia is out there. A full 75 percent of voting Hispanics believe that prosperity is the job of government. And so they'll vote for the party that espouses those beliefs. [It] happens to be the Democrats. And so we sit here, and we think it's a lost cause to favor amnesty, illegal immigration, simply to get voters.  Source:  Media Matters

The Daily Kos via its ProgLegs writer continues to run a critical and relevant series of articles about the Cumulus Radio-Clear Channel broadcast of The Rush Limbaugh Show (and the Sean Hannity Show). If you have interest in understanding (the contract) related network changes the Kos links you via the following paragraph from a January 04, 2014 piece.
.....This week right wing talk show host Rush Limbaugh moved from Cumulus Media's WABC in New York City to Clear Channel's WOR as part of a deal that renewed Limbaugh's contract with Cumulus, albeit with major advertising concessions on the part of Limbaugh's parent company Premiere Radio Networks.
Many sponsors have dropped the Limbaugh show since Limbaugh's three day attack on Sandra Fluke for speaking honestly since Darrell Issa, Chair US Oversight Committee-Chair, denied her opportunity to speak on behalf of contraception regarding the then developing Affordable Care Act. Linked via Washington Post Opinions. Erik WempleYet, thousands continue to stop the racist and misogynist demagogue. A number of groups have metaphorically taken up arms against Limbaugh.  The move Cumulus Radio/Clear Channel corporate moves has been met by another well equipped adversary: Flush Rush Facebook.
....Right off the bat Flush Rush Facebook volunteers--including the StopRush Hall of Fame monitor who was instrumental in knocking Limbaugh off WWIQ in Philadelphia--blanketed the controversial talk show, monitoring both broadcast and streaming versions of the show.
If you follow the The Daily Kos ProgLeg links we have posted above, you will be enlightened with details of how Flush Rush Facebook goes about its work. Let me restate the last statement. How we, as I have joined the network, go about our work. Of particular, interest is a link to current Limbaugh sponsor (All, Local, National). The list of organizations that continue to support Limbaugh is stupefying and can only denote respective high level support for his demagoguery via business owners, boards of directors support for Limbaugh as well ass tacit approval of his hatred via providing revenue to Clear Channel. Sponsors that could not care in any way about Limbaugh's racist rants, his regular misogyny, and his ideology leadership of a party that is literally wasting billions on Obstruction to the Obama Administration. Obstruction that forces desperation on people who have less (Medical coverage, unemployment payments, etc).

As we complete the first full week of 2014, Flush Rush has been busy and has notched a victory or two.

The Daily Kos, Janury 5, 2013
It's been a rough start for Clear Channel's WOR AM since Rush Limbaugh moved his controversial talk show there earlier this week.  StopRush volunteers have begun monitoring the broadcast to let the public know which New York businesses and organizations allow their reputations to be sullied by his regular attacks on women, homosexuals, and ethnic minorities.

One organization that will most certainly not be allowing that is 5th Avenue's Marble Collegiate Church, whose founding in New York in 1628 makes it one of the "oldest continuous Protestant congregations in North America."
Marble is known for its progressive orientation, its leaders having spoken out against war as a solution and established the GIFTS (Gays/Lesbians in Faith, Tradition and Service) program in 1994.
The church's long list of noteworthy pastors include Norman Vincent Peale, who led it for 52 years, and his successor Arthur Caliandro, who is credited with emphasizing diversity and a "non-judgemental setting."
Marble Collegiate's current leader is Dr. Michael Brown, who the church says "provides dynamic, positive spiritual direction to a diverse and embracing congregation."
Apparently someone at WOR forgot to ask Dr. Brown whether it would be ok for them to play an ad for Marble Collegiate Church on the Rush Limbaugh Show:

When contacted by Flush Rush Facebook volunteers, Brown's response was emphatic:
No one at Marble (a) knew or (b) approved being used as an advertiser for the Rush Limbaugh Show.  He truly stands for so much that our church stands against.  Neither his racist nor hate-inspired views represent what this great church has historically preached and practiced.
You have my word that we will take immediate action to remove ourselves from any public association with his show.  It was a mistake on the part of WOR who ran the ads without consulting anyone at Marble first.  I assure you, that will not happen again.
Blessings,
Michael Brown
Marble also took to social media to be sure the public knew they wanted nothing to do with Rush Limbaugh's hateful rhetoric:

Radio station oversight had our spots running in error. They are fixing asap. Marble continues to stand for diversity and inclusiveness.
StopRush is an apolitical movement of activists who are dedicated to raising the cost of spreading bigotry on our public airwaves.  If you'd like to lend a hand, read on after the break.

Decent folks who believe in tolerance and equality are no longer powerless against Rush Limbaugh's efforts to spread intolerance on the radio.  StopRush is making a major impact by convincing advertisers on this show to withdraw their ads--and with your help we can do even more.  Just a few emails, tweets, or Facebook messages a week to Limbaugh's advertisers can go a long way toward making hatred less profitable.  It is our collective voice that makes us strong.

ORIGINALLY POSTED TO PROGLEGS ON SUN JAN 05, 2014 AT 09:10 AM PST.

Proglegs ran another piece on Yesterday worthy a for more minutes of your time. That is, if you care about America as a decent place to live and raise a family. If you have no cares about fair and equal treatment for all Americans, you have already read too far into this piece; and now you are probably angry for doing so.

The "Rush" for the exits at Rush Limbaugh's new home in New York City--Clear Channel's WOR AM--continues, as advertisers who have long run ads on this radio station object to their brands suddenly being hitched to Limbaugh's hate wagon.
On Friday a Mexican-American Flush Rush volunteer contacted a WOR advertiser called Page Publishing to politely request that they not advertise on the Rush Limbaugh Show.
She specifically objected to Limbaugh's characterization of Mexicans as being lazy by nature.
The response she received will make your day:
I am the president of Page Publishing, and I could not agree with you more. He is a disgusting, misogynistic racist. We have been advertising with WOR for quite a while, but they only recently added this moron’s program to their lineup, and we were assured that our ads would not inadvertently  run during his show. Thanks for pointing out that it did (I don’t have the stomach to listen to his show to verify if our ads do run). I will insist that our ads never run during his bigoted show. It amazes me that his show has any audience at all here in New York City- a progressive and liberal place if ever there was one (the place where I was born and raised, and a place that is amazing in its diversity).
Your email reached me because the staff here universally despises Limbaugh and everything he stands for, and they know of my feelings as well. The ironic things about most of the nonsense that he spews, in particular his references to Mexicans and Mexican-Americans, is that there probably isn’t a harder working group of people in the nation right now.
He has the right to say what he wants, and we have the right to refuse to support him with our corporate advertising dollars.
Thanks for the email,
Stephen

We can simply sit back and allow the Right to facilitate moving the nation farther Right, or we can fight back via standing-up to their demagogues and front-MEN.
