GOP Congressman's Communications Director, Poor Judgment, Lack of Introspection; Forced Resignation

Elizabeth Lauten: CLASS! As some wondered about her knowledge of "bar trash."

As President Obama continued the tired and stale tradition from the Reagan years of "pardoning a turkey", a GOP official/operative sought to fire barbs at the Obamas. Elizabeth Lauten, Communications Director, for Rep. Stephen Fincher (R-TN) followed other conservatives in passing judgment on the first family. Of more importance, is the tendency of people on the Right to expend copious energy watching non-conservatives, assessing people from a conservative paradigm and running off at the mouth like a case of diarrhea. They seek to cast stones and they are complete reticent to the importance of  thinking before acting and maybe even take a look in the mirror.

If you read follow Facebook page post, you will notice a few key points. Lauten seems to gave fallen for the popular (among conservatives) Fox News, Limbaugh, Beck and Palin like Obama Derangement. She mistakenly thought she could do same or similar.

Republican House staffer Elizabeth Lauten Facebook Post Message

Within hours, Lauten addressed her extremely poor judgment and tendency to make a fool of herself as follows. (paraphrased) She offer a perfunctory apology "after talking with her parents and expending hours in prayer." She also embed the following in the context of her half-ass apology: When I first posted on Facebook I reacted to an article and I quickly judged the two young ladies in a way that I would never have wanted to be judged myself as a teenager.”

I could not help, but wonder why her alleged affinity for prayer did not instill more personal decency in her inner core. Part of the false facade of US conservatism is the over use of 'religion' from a perspective only available to conservatives. If you are not a Bible tooting conservative replete with tendency towards evangelicalism, you might be a heathen.

Lauten was forced out of her position as Communications Director via resignation. Before we move on, let's place Lauten in perspective. She served as the COMMUNICATIONS Director for an elected official from Tennessee. A COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR, mind you! There is life as a professional at a higher plain; Lauten took the low road.

Now refresh part of her perfunctory apology for a second: "I quickly judged the two young ladies in a way that I would never have wanted to be judged myself as a teenager.” she fiend to lament.

As the old adage rolls-around. "The chickens come how to roost." Lauten has a history and criminal record as a teen. She should have contemplated before she attacked two teenagers who obviously did not find the turkey pardoning a desirable interaction. Lauten has a bit of larceny in her background.

GOP Staffer Who Said Obama Girls Lacked Class Was Arrested As A Teen Ogvju56uul6jn7wfrpqy

The Republican staffer who lectured Sasha and Malia Obama on their clothes and told them to "try showing a little class" wasn't exactly a perfect teenager herself.

Elizabeth Lauten was arrested at age 17 for misdemeanor larceny after she allegedly stole from a Belk Department store in North Carolina, according to court records reviewed by The Smoking Gun. The charges were dismissed since Lauten was a first-time offender and she didn't get into additional trouble.

Lauten resigned as the the communications director for Rep. Stephen Fincher (R-TN) on Monday following backlash over a Facebook post about the Obama daughters' attire at the White House turkey pardon ceremony.

Also note, Lauten attacked more then the Obama daughters. Her comment included words about disrespectful "bar trash" and extrapolated her "judgment" of disrespect to POTUS and the FLOTUS. And, there we find Lauten's potential for "Right-wing media darling" status and appearances on Fox News. She may have expected slam-dunk mention on Limbaugh's show and would certainly have availed herself for an appearance on Glenn Beck's (insanity hour) show.

People on the Right are obsessed with shaping the world in their likeness. They without fail refuse to allow their minds to venture back into deep annals of the past to ensure they have no ghosts. Lauten had ghosts.

All said, I must offer an at ta-boy to the GOP and party leadership for taking down the mouthy communication director. To placate those who will comment about with many of us have committed larceny in the past. granted, but how many of us grow to the level of attracting national attention after attacks on the First Family?
