Tom Cotton Echoes The Bush Iraq War Rhetoric

The US Senate's nascent de facto GOP leader, Tom Cotton R-AR., is proving that he will serve the defense industry like no other. Cotton is unabashed in his rhetoric regarding "bombing" Iran, and he is equally unabashed in accepting million dollar plus donations from groups with primary mission of support for Israel.

Buzz Feed recently ran a piece with this headline:

Tom Cotton: Bombing Iran Would Take “Several Days,” Be Nothing Like Iraq War

“All we’re asking is that the president simply be as tough as in the protection of America’s national security interest as Bill Clinton was.”

If you read the Buzz Feed piece, you should have come away a classic view of money-funded governance works and how it works against he good of the nation.

Tom Cotton seemingly handed-off a letter for signature (he may not have written) and 47 members of the US Senate jumped at an opportunity to perform anti-Obama obstruction. Despite claiming various reasons for their signatures, some in the Senate must have known of Cotton's financial backing. If it was not common knowledge "The 47" should feel duped. If it was common knowledge that speaks to what we can expect from the party we handed a majority in both Houses of Congress.

One should also wonder about John Boehner's over-exuberant trip to Israel late last month.  Could his interest in journeying to the middle eastern country have been based in factors beyond anti-Obama politics?

A question that will go unanswered for an infinity.

Let's consider Cotton's completely insane remarks via the Buzz Feed Report.  Do you recall hearing saber rattling and drum beating akin to that espoused by Cotton as the nation moved towards war in Iraq. Yes, we heard such and we are still smoldering through a recovery form an economic collapse majorly influenced by the outcomes of those who 'rattled."

"You're going to find Iraqis out cheering American troops."
-- Paul Wolfowitz, February 23, 2003
"There is no question but that they would be welcomed."
-- Donald Rumsfeld, February 20, 2003
"My belief is we will, in fact, be greeted as liberators."
-- Dick Cheney, March 16, 2003
"Given the chance to throw off a brutal dictator like Saddam Hussein, people will rejoice."
-- Ari Fleischer, March 21, 2003

Political obstruction is one matter, callous serenading for war is quite another.
