Ann Coulter Joins Pat Buchanan As A Purveyor Of White Nationalism (Racism)

A decade after the end of the Civil War, a veteran of the Confederate States of America examines a Union water bottle in front of a Confederate flag in 1875. Here's a look at the evolution of that flag:

Dixiecrats resurfaced the "Southern Cross" flag as a political symbol around the time President Harry Truman supported efforts to end lynchings and desegregate the military in 1948. During that same period, the Ku Klux Klan began using the flag more widely.

Often conservatives and some progressives for different reasons seek to deny that racism and skin color bias is no longer an issue in America. Some conservatives are so dogmatic in their promulgation of nationalism based in race, it is literally impossible to separate their actions and words from white nationalist like Pat Buchanan.

Google definition:
  1. White nationalism is an ideology that advocates a racial definition of national identity for white people. White nationalism ranges from a preference for one's ethnic group, to feelings of superiority to organized forms of white  supremacism.
Actually white nationalism is a commonly accepted vernacular for "racism." Watch Buchanan via a Rachel Maddow segment that ran after during the Sotomayor SCOTUS confirmation hearings and after Buchanan openly declared himself a "white nationalist/racist." The segment is close to seven minutes long, but relevant to the individual syllable.

There are Americans who actually deny the reality of melanin bias and skin color as an inducement to racism and racist acts. On another front, there are American conservatives who unabashedly wear their racism and racist views as boldly as their GOP lapel pins.

Let's take a look at the latest and ugliest manifestation of US racism from a well known right wing propagandist and demagogue: Ann Coulter.

The background from the nascent Coulter attack is as follows
South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley publicly asked to have the Confederate flag removed from the state capitol grounds.

The request to start debate on removal of the flag was a bridge too far for Coulter. What happens when people are stretched to the limit of their paradigm. They either assimilate to the new environment (or ideology) or they lash out in futile efforts to enact their agst. Coulter, of course, chose the latter. Watch as Coulter proves (yet again) racism is a core value inherent in some who claim to be American conservatives. Racial intolerance is endemic among conservatives to a far greater degree and validates the racial and ethnic composition of the GOP: 92% white Coulter goes racial on Nikki Haley as an immigrant and not into Americanism. Coulter will say she stated "immigrant;" It doesn't require a leap of imagination to read between the lines and reach beyond Coulters closeted "dog whistle."

Pants on Fire!CoulterSays South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley "is an immigrant."

Media Matters...
But Haley is not an immigrant. As reported by the Washington Post's Phillip Rucker, Haley was born in Bamberg, South Carolina, to Indian immigrant parents (emphasis original):
She's the daughter of Sikh immigrants from India. Haley's parents, Dr. Ajit and Raj Randhawa immigrated from Amritsar to the tiny town of Bamberg, S.C. (population 3,733). Nikki was born there and grew up with a sister, Simran, and two brothers, Mitti and Charan. Mitti was an active-duty officer in the Army for 20 years and fought in Desert Storm. Haley could become only the second Indian-American governor in the country, joining Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R).
Politfact also addressed Coulter's rhetoric.

Ann Coulter Pants on Fire claim SC Governor Nikki Haley

Coulter is the tip of the iceberg for those on the Right who wear their racism and intolerance as proudly as some relish display of the Confederate flag. As is the case with the Confederate flag, there comes a time when even conservatives should realize the essence of their social paradigm is flawed and runs against the grain of true Americanism. It took the killing of nine innocent church worshippers to push issues with the confederate flag to the forefront of public extinction. What will it take for American conservatives to push overt racism as practiced by the likes of Coulter and Buchanan to the level of extinction?
