Jason Chaffetz: A Symptom Of A Sick GOP

Friend of the TPI, Mike Victor again visits via introduction of a piece regarding Jason Chaffetz's Darrell Issa like fumbling through politically slanted Oversight Committee Hearings.
This man lied. I know that to accuse a Congressman, particularly a Republican Congressman these days, of lying is about as original and shocking as pointing out that used car salesmen don't really have a deal for you or that that Ethiopian prince who keeps emailing you for a safe place to deposit his money is neither Ethiopian nor a prince, but this was brazen, on camera, and bold-faced.
These are the same @ssholes who have yet to apologize for their countless multimillion-dollar investigations of Benghazi (or to retract the nasty wild accusations that the final report of those investigations put to rest once and for all). They are mean-spirited thugs and bullies. I will do everything I legally can to fight their re-election, even if that means writing checks to whoever in their home district is challenging them. They should be impeached but that is as likely as Kim Davis doing more jail time (or undergoing a court-ordered psychiatric evaluation).
Thank you, Bruce Lindner, for the fantastic commentary below.

Don't brush aside the significance of what we witnessed yesterday. Jason Chaffetz twisted, distorted and manipulated the powers granted to him by the people of Utah. He's not just their Congressman, he's also the Chairman of the House Committee on Oversight. I wasn't able to watch the entire gavel-to-gavel coverage, but I assume the hearing began as all House investigations do; with the witness—in this case, the President of Planned Parenthood, Cecile Richards—raising her hand and being sworn to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. And from everything I've seen and heard, she did so -- not even a single member on that panel has accused her of prevaricating. Just everything short of devil worship. Their beef with her, is that she and her organization exist.

The crescendo of yesterday's inquisition went like this: Jason Chaffetz put a graphic up on the monitors that showed abortions on the rise, and other services, including cancer screenings on the decline. Richards was flummoxed. She confessed that she'd never seen that slide before and therefore couldn't comment, but pointed out that those stats were inconsistent with those of Planned Parenthood's. But Chaffetz doubled down. QUOTE: "I pulled those numbers directly out of your corporate reports."

Just then, Richards' counsel leaned forward and whispered something in her ear. "Excuse me. My lawyers have informed me that the source of this is Americans United for Life which is an anti-abortion group so I would check your source." All eyes on Chaffetz, as he squirmed in his now urine-soaked BVDs. "Then we will get to the bottom of the truth of that."

Not five seconds prior, he said "I pulled those numbers directly out of your corporate reports." *I*, he said... *I*. Not some staffer, not someone else on the committee, he claimed that he HIMSELF extrapolated the now-discredited hogwash from Planned Parenthood's internal reports.

He LIED. And there's no other way of characterizing it.

The man who swore Cecile Richards in earlier in the day, got caught, and not just caught trying to set her up in a cheap sting, but he got caught lying about the source of his cooked figures.

Who knew that when a witness is under oath in the United States Congress, that oath of truth only works one way? Jason Chaffetz, Chairman of the House Committee on Oversight, demanded honesty from his witness, and he got it...even as he himself was lying his fat, devious ass off.

So here's a question for my "pro-life" friends, be you Republican or Democrat: Is this where you want this debate to go? Is the question of Planned Parenthood's funding SO critical to you, that you'd sit idly by as the Chairman of the committee exposes himself as a dishonest player in your little game? It wouldn't diminish your cause one iota if you stood up and said; "I'm still opposed to abortion, but I don't want to be represented by people who can't debate the issue on the facts." Thus far, I've yet to hear a SINGLE pro-lifer do so, which suggests you're perfectly okay with fighting the fight based on lies, as long as you prevail in the end.

If you're a person of any integrity whatsoever, you'll join those of us who were outraged by yesterday's disgraceful kangaroo court, and CALL OUT for truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. And demand the censure or impeachment of Jason Chaffetz... Liar extraordinaire, of the Great State of Utah, who's made a mockery of this bogus controversy in the People's House.
