A friend of the TPI, Beautiful Songbird, is a former MIZZOU student. She offered this perspective on an experience at the university.
The current racial tensions at Mizzou have really stirred up old things that I thought I had tucked away. Like several of my fellow alumni, I too experienced racism on campus. My freshman year at Mizzou I was walking on campus when a car full of white men rolled down their windows and threw rocks at me yelling at me to "get out and go home". Then I looked up to see a student waving his confederate flag at me!!! I thought I was dreaming and was too scared to report it. All I could think was that I will not be ran away. I worked too hard to get here and I will get my degree. That's what kept me going. Although I appreciate the education that I received at the institution and the good times that I had there, situations like these can no longer be ignored.
But I am proud that these students have the courage to do what I did not. Tim Wolfe resigned but this is not the end!! I graduated over 14 years ago and it doesn't seem any better!!MESSAGE!
I fully support all these students! #concernedstudent1950#
"War" (Youtube) partial lyrics
Wolfe's mishandling his leadership role constitutes an enticement for protesters to wage figurative "war."
