As Trump's World Turns: “Lugenpresse” (Fake News, Lying Media)

“Lugenpresse,” a word which translates roughly to “lying press.”

As Donald Trump shows increasing signs of a longing to subjugate the nation to the fiefdom which he would undoubtedly rename Trumpland or The Republic of Trumpistan, it is important to ask a question. How long will the more than three-quarters of the nation which doesn't support Trump speak out?

Let's take a look at the fiefdom.

Imagine what follows as part of a national flag and emblem for The Republic of Trumpistan.

We shouldn't ignore the signs.

The signs include a strategy which is so obvious it isn't humorous outside of the hordes of supporters and GOP Trump fearing politicians. Strategy? Turn the media, or focus the American psyche to far-right propaganda outlets, and the capitulation of a nation is made simple.

THE PRESS IN THE THIRD REICH
ESTABLISHING CONTROL OF THE PRESS
When Adolf Hitler took power in 1933, the Nazis controlled less than three percent of Germany’s 4,700 papers. The elimination of the German multi-party political system not only brought about the demise of hundreds of newspapers produced by outlawed political parties; it also allowed the state to seize the printing plants and equipment of the Communist and Social Democratic Parties, which were often turned over directly to the Nazi Party. In the following months, the Nazis established control or exerted influence over independent press organs.
During the first weeks of 1933, the Nazi regime deployed the radio, press, and newsreels to stoke fears of a pending “Communist uprising,” then channeled popular anxieties into political measures that eradicated civil liberties and democracy. SA (storm troopers) and members of the Nazi elite paramilitary formation, the SS, took to the streets to brutalize or arrest political opponents and incarcerate them in hastily established detention centers and concentration camps. Nazi thugs broke into opposing political party offices, destroying printing presses and newspapers.
Sometimes using holding companies to disguise new ownership, executives of the Nazi Party-owned publishing house, Franz Eher, established a huge empire that drove out competition and purchased newspapers at below-market prices. Some independent newspapers, particularly conservative newspapers and non-political illustrated weeklies, accommodated to the regime through self-censorship or initiative in dealing with approved topics.

Trump's anti-media strategy is, yes, obvious.

It’s no secret by now that Trump loves to dismiss stories critical of his demeanor or administration as “fake news” — but what you may not have known is that the “fake news” attack echoes one of Hitler’s favorite insults: “lugenpresse,” a word which translates roughly to “lying press.”
“Lugenpresse”

Watch and listen to Trump via an excerpt from his hour-long oral insanity delivered to the VFW in Kansas City Missouri.

The full Kansas City Trumpfest with the VFW, linked here. If you heard boos and applause as Trump attacked the media, we have read reports VFW leadership admonished its members for the boos.

How did Haler actually treat the German press?

Former Republicans strategist Steve Schmidt often speaks out against Trumpism and its various tyrannical fissures.  Schmidt was a guest on the MSNBC The Beat show after yesterday's White House Press briefing. As you watch the segment notice a moment int he White House briefing when sanders literally read her response with no eye contact up from the podium.
