"Lies, Lies, Sweet Little Lies"

Paul "hard truth' Ryan on running a marathon....."I had a two hour and fifty-something.”

The Business Insider...
The Vice-Presidential candidate completed the 1990 Grandma's Marathon in Minnesota in four hours and one minute - a decent but unremarkable result
"The race was more than 20 years ago, but my brother Tobin — who ran Boston last year — reminds me that he is the owner of the fastest marathon in the family and has never himself ran a sub-three,” Mr Ryan said in a statement.
“If I were to do any rounding, it would certainly be to four hours, not three. He gave me a good ribbing over this at dinner tonight."

The New Yorker
Last week, in an interview with Hugh Hewitt, Paul Ryan said that he had run a marathon in under three hours, or, more precisely, “I had a two hour and fifty-something.” That is quite speedy, and running fans in the forums of Letsrun.com treated the claim with great skepticism. The Internet bears no trace of the run, and Ryan doesn’t have the extremely lean frame of your typical fast marathoner. Also, people who run that quickly are generally neurotic about their times. Shouldn’t Ryan remember his exactly? “He is too intense and driven to just forget something like that,” one commentator wrote.

While major publications and media are avoiding direct discussion of the Ryan lie, I suggest it is indicative of a character flaw he cannot simply excise as, a 'mistake'.

Soft Rock Lie

Fleetwood Mac.... Dedicated to Paul Ryan

Have you ever known a "pathological liar"?  You know that person who you knew whenever they told you something or commented about something, there was  good chance it was not based in fact.  To put it more bluntly,  you knew the person  lied so much you had grown beyond acceptance of their words with serious reservation. We all knew or know at least one such person.

Maybe it was the guy who always caught the largest fish, but also always let the fish live via a release".

Maybe it was the guy who always had dates with the few real 'hotties' around the high school, but no one ever saw them together. Verification of his claims was out of the question because you did not dare ask the hottie about his claim. Also, what in the hell are you doing even talking to the most popular 'hotties', anyway? So, his claim went uncontested.  And, for the uninformed his claims garnered much envy.

Reggae Lie

Maybe you knew a neighborhood sandlot ball player who incessantly bragged about being asked to join an organized team. The alleged coach saw him or her play and asked them to join his team.  Funny she/her never joined the team; they just kept playing sandlot ball.

Ah, maybe he is the guy who claims his Mom always purchases the latest video game, but you are never invited into the home to play as an opponent.

It is impossible for you not to know this girl or guy. The highest grade achiever. Yes, the person who achieved the highest grade through all of your classes.  It was easy lie (about grades) because if you had no opportunity to see their report card, you were left wondering if they lied or told the truth.

Hard Rock Lie

As I consider his convention speech, his Path to Prosperity, and his latest 'marathon' lie, Paul Ryan is simply a 'liar'. He lies at levels far beyond an embellish (er) or one who speaks in hyperbole, he flat-out lies.

During a time when the GOP is looking to capture the US federal government, how secure can we feel with a person like Ryan sitting as Vice President of the United States.  All administrations embellish and stretch the truth.  They generally do so after taking office knowing the electoral process provides no opportunity to correct itself for lies shy of those told with criminal intent .  I cannot recall one presidential campaign that has been so filled with lies from the GOP.  From Romney's campaigns lies  (as stated by Gingrich and Santorum through ad campaign lies and outright lie laced oratory

The Romney ticket is showing its colors with a plethora of lies, or they avoid issues all together.
