Right-wing Heart Throb And Fox News Hero: “......the Negro”, "Slavery", "Picking Cotton"

“......the Negro” Was Better Off in Slavery, Picking Cotton

Here's video of the racist thing Cliven Bundy denied he ever saidEnlargeCliven Bundy (Credit: Reuters/Jim Urquhart)
If you read this piece and are a fan of The Daily Show, you know Jon Stewart has "done a job" on Sean Hannity and his seditious support for a tax evader: Cliven Bundy.

You might also know Hannity struck back.  In typical Hannity fashion when cornered of when he has egg on his face. Hannity lashed out about Stewart "keeping an eye"  or "watching his show" on his show. Notice the end of this short segment as Hannity admits to use of edited video tape. He walks through the correction with a bit of snark to Stewart and his team "thanks for watching."

Hannity really doesn't handle "caught" very well at all. It does not matter he and his network presentation of  current events with a high degree of right-wing propaganda, enticement to incite and with over-the-top derangement.  What matters is to move-on to the next segment with a bit of entertainment for Fox News viewers:  "Thanks for watching...!", "Suck-up?", and the Sarah Palin like Bill Ayers.  I am waiting for the inevitable, when Hannity is so caught immersed in lies an propaganda he goes completely juvenile with a hardy "Na, Na, Na,Na Nay" with thumb in nose and flailing fingers. Bill Ayers, Hannity?  "Suck-up?"

Stewart delivered the latest salvo in the Hannity/Stewart battles and is captured below via Talking Points Memo. An excerpt follows with the full piece linked below (Read more).

It now appears Bundy's notoriety, his status as a registered Republican, his cause celebre via Fox News and overt support from certain GOP/Libertarian politicians are exposing the cancer just beneath the surface of "all things" GOP. Of course, you may not care for my blanket indictment, but you must admit to seeing, hearing and smelling race just under the surface of all we see and hear from the more visible of the GOP.

Bundy via all of his nascent celebrity, has gone deeply racial. He has basically provided lower level/guttural commentary that echoes and mirrors Paul Ryan's "Inner city culture" remarks.

“I want to tell you one more thing I know about the Negro,” he said. Mr. Bundy recalled driving past a public-housing project in North Las Vegas, “and in front of that government house the door was usually open and the older people and the kids — and there is always at least a half a dozen people sitting on the porch — they didn’t have nothing to do. They didn’t have nothing for their kids to do. They didn’t have nothing for their young girls to do.
“And because they were basically on government subsidy, so now what do they do?” he asked. “They abort their young children, they put their young men in jail, because they never learned how to pick cotton. And I’ve often wondered, are they better off as slaves, picking cotton and having a family life and doing things, or are they better off under government subsidy? They didn’t get no more freedom. They got less freedom.”
OOOOPS, yet another side of the freeloading anarchist come forth. And, it is an ugly side that many should have anticipated. As I think back to last week, I distinctly recall seeing a camera shot of a black man (in fatigue garments) phone recording comments from a woman who appeared as a relative of Bundy. Now, could the black anarchist and militia guy agree with Bundys' 1930s vernacular: "Negro?"
I digress a moment.

"I doubt there is an African-American liberal or progressive in the nation who has watched and listened to Bundy (and his Fox News supporters) who did not have strong suspicion Bundy was a avowed racist. "
End digress comment.

I again posit, this is what you should expect from people like Bundy.  If exposed to the daylight of civility, they show as 'vampires" who cannot stand the light. They will also if over-exposed, reveal their inner core. A core that is being actively embraced and courted by Fox News (especially Sean Hannity), and publicity seeking would be GOP presidential candidates (AKA Rand Paul).

Going forward, I join other writers, progressives, liberals and open-minded independents in anticipation of how Fox News will handle their uncloaked racist.  Moreover, Hannity's "love of new friend Bundy" and Hannity's opportunism going forward is also an area of interest.

The matter or Rand Paul's opportunism?

Mediaite..... nevada-rancher-cliven-bundy-goes-off-on-the-negro

In fairness, we are compelled to post the following. However, there should be a lesson for republicans who so quickly supported sedition against the current US government without, what do they call it, "vetting" their hero.

YouTube channel My New Channel also posted the following:
His Republican supporters may not be, however: after the comment, Senator Dean Heller (R-NV) condemned the remarks and Texas gubernatorial candidate Greg Abbott backed away from Bundy. (Senator Rand Paul's (R-KY) office said Paul was "unavailable for comment.")
UPDATE 8:51 a.m.: Paul denounced the comments in a statement: "His remarks on race are offensive and I wholeheartedly disagree with him," he said.
If you share my thoughts on this matter, you have to have some degree of curiosity of what preceded Bundy's: "I want to tell you one more thing I know about the Negro.”

As my keyboarding this piece came to an end, I noticed Bundy has declared he is not a racist.

"I am not a racist"

Apparently, Bundy joined Right-wing conspiracy theorist Alex Jones on Jones's radio show. Bundy declared he did not saying the words "picking cotton." Bundy via Alex Jones.......the right wing hero attempts to clean himself with an equally soiled reality. He cherry picks and denies part of his racist rant. He like so many on the right offer sheepish red-faced (vernacular very intentional) denials without regard for nor respect for modern day technological advancements. In Bundy's case, like Santorum's "BLAH people" and others, the technology includes video tape and sound.

Denials when confronted with video and audio doesn't work, Cliven. And, who ever sat with you overnight in an effort to parse your racist rant, they did you a disservice.  Parsing out "picking cotton" fails to wash the racism out of your remarks.

Exposure is reality, personal declaration of not being racist fall flat once we consider "perception is reality." Why not go out like Pat Buchanan as a proud racist?  It does little good to hide one's inner core, when the person is so willing to speak with cameras present and the person is being egged one by hustling media (e.g., Fox News). Two points in parting. It does no good to hide. View this video at the 23 second mark to end.  The message is clear, "....we can still see you."

If the racist can accept that he is now exposed for the person he really is, why not follow this advice from the late great Reggae performer Bob Marley, "Who the cap fit, let them wear it!

"The chickens really do come home to roost!"
