Church Killer, Confederacy And The Great State Of South Carolina

The Insidious
Roof and his prideful display of racist emblems. A 21 year old high school dropout exercised his personal "liberty" (as Libertarians all it) to summarily kill the nine innocent worshippers depicted below.

Fox News's Greta Van Sustren interviews a friend of the South Carolina killer and via one microphone tie secured validation of racism as a root contributor to the carnage.

"...... I don't know I think he is a racist."

Friend: Dyllan Storm Roof Took Gun from His Mom - She Didn't Trust Him With It (VIDEO)

Racial hatred again manifest in a nation of increasing regression into times long past. A past of overt suppression via Jim Crow laws and, where Jim Laws did not proliferate, unwritten rules of life led to suppression by proxy. African-Americans and other nonwhite citizens knew they were allowed a life separate from the privilege conferred to whites as a birth right. The United States thus, has a history much like that of South Africa, Rhodesia and other suppressive societies in the African Continent: race as the first determinant of the quality a scope of life.

We as a nation have yet to deal with the vestiges of racism. ignoring the faint light of privilege for some and suppression of others has contributed to a mindset  of manifest rights to perpetrate any vile acts the mind of the privileged can concoct.  Add the availability of weapons ;and a mind shaped from birth via ever present ;preachings of racial superiority and the freedoms of being "Free white and 21" and we have in mid June of 2015 a figurative lynching by gun of innocents in a house of worship.

Why is it ;impossible to believe that the nation has five (Red states) that continue to exist without hate crime legislation?

Apparently, the most conservative of states (South Carolina) , not only continues to hold the flag of the US Confederacy ;as its state ;flag, state legislators ;have not found the need to legislate crimes perpetrated ;against victims based on race, sex, gender nor sexual orientation any differently as the crime of theft, larceny or for that matter civil disobedience. Basically the proud conservative state does not respect the rights of people who are most susceptible to crimes for the majority population.

Aljazeera America..."Repeated attempts to pass hate crime bill in South Carolina have failed"

“In this case, there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that it is a hate crime,” said Charleston Police Chief Greg Mullen.
While the shooting may be considered a hate crime under federal law, that designation does not exist in South Carolina’s criminal code. The Palmetto State is one of just five states lacking any sort of hate crime statute. The other four are Arkansas, Wyoming, Georgia and Indiana.

Conservative legislators have fought hate crime legislation, In five states where it wouldn't be a stretch to recognize discrimination, racism and white privilege exist like a spring filed of dandelions.

While some question the effectiveness of hate crime legislation, the fact that a state legislature refuses to accept the reality of hate based crimes is stupefying in the US circa 1980 through 2015. We find it all especially stupefying in a state that the Southern Poverty Law Center indicates has 19 documented and verifiable hate groups.

June 18, Al Jazeera America....
An eyewitness said the shooter justified his rampage because of fears that black people were “taking over our country.” NBC News spoke with Sylvia Johnson, a cousin of Clementa Pinckney, the pastor of the church, who was killed in the shooting. She said a shooting survivor told her that the shooter said, “I have to do it. You rape our women, and you’re taking over our country. And you have to go.”
The SPLC documents 19 active right-wing extremist groups operating in South Carolina. It is currently unclear whether Roof had any direct connection to any of those groups.
“Since 2000, we’ve seen an increase in the number of hate groups in our country — groups that vilify others on the basis of characteristics such as race or ethnicity,” said Richard Cohen, the president of the SPLC in a statement released on Thursday. “Though the numbers have gone down somewhat in the last two years, they are still at historically high levels.”

Mentally ill?  Yes, a convenient tool of denial equivalent to the l adage "white trash" and the implied message that only trashy whites perpetrate trashy ;acts.  Inherent in such labels is the implied misnomer that whites generally do not perpetrate trashy acts. Oh, for the love of the lie and the effectiveness of denial.
President Obama has publicly stated the South Carolina state slag must find its way to the museum. I posit, the president and other courageous souls must step out of the safe politically correct box and nail conservative politicians, conservative ideology, Fox News and all things that serve as vehicles to white privilege.  If no one steps forward to check and reverse conservative ideology ;that lends a welcome to families that raise their children to hate based in race, the nation will find more cases like the killings in the South Carolina Church.

If you think the last paragraph may have been a bit harsh, find an example f progressive of liberals killing as such and the "hat" I have place on US conservatives will no longer fit. You will not find such example.
