The US History Of Housing Segregation, SCOTUS Fair Housing Ruling And Fox News

Re post from Friend of the TPI, Michael Nurse, and a visit with the Economic Policy Institute; central topic: Housing and housing segregation. And quick visit with Fox News viewers.

Michael D. Nurse

I struggled to get go the end of this. Is it possible that racists know exactly why POC are unable to get ahead?!? Hear them explain about the systems of disenfranchisement, 35% unemployment; lack of opportunity; failing underfunded schools etc. as the real reasons for black poverty economics.

Then pay attention to the other racist talking about the privileges of living in an affluent community with great schools and housing.

What they fear is not the section 8 whites integrating into better opportunity situations, but rather those black people being forced unto their neighbourhoods. Smh

Why must black people have to suffer these racists; why must we endure this suffocating sense of rejection from birth to grave. Blacks never asked to be slaves in Amerikkka.

What's even more bewildering is the presumption that (awakened blacks today want any part of this second desegregation federal plan) The first one being as hollow and emptied out as it is.

Blacks do not have to teach white people anything about systemic racism, privilege, disenfranchisement or anything pertaining to the oppression of blacks. None of it happened by chance, it was planned, carefully designed and systematically put in place to produce certain results. They know better than most black people about what's going on. You can be certain of that. Smh..

Is there anything more evil and anti-freedom than Obama's plan to flood majority white cities with low-income non-white residents (the sinister sounding Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing)?

Michael Nurse more than appropriately delineated the pathetic state of conservative reaction to a SCOTUS decision that upheld past legal issues regarding fair housing.

As I read the screed from Mr. Nurse, I could not help but reflect on an NPR segment I heard in Mid-May (2015).

The segment was run on NPR's Fresh Air and it included poignant and cogent comment from Economic Policy Institute a research associate (historian), Richard Rothstein. The NPR segment: "Historian Says Don't 'Sanitize' How Our Government Created Ghettos".

The two pieces above denote the sad stage of US social policy and dogmatic conservative demagoguery with no good purpose.  The Fox News segment via Megyn "White Santa; white Jesus" Kelly is as shameful as the host's attacking a writer who simply went tongue in cheek regarding visuals of "White Santa" for on white kids within days of Christmas 2013.  Kelly exercise overt racism, white privilege and callous social policy and after a few days (mysteriously) off the air returned feigning "joking" to the pre- Christmas kids. Joking to kids at 10:00 PM Eastern Time zone on Fox News? How many Santa aged kids would have a seat for Kelly's show?

Fox News management choice of host demagogue for delivery of their message to the its vastly white audience is no surprise. What is surprising is Fox News's continuing disregard for US history and the network's outright disrespect for its sycophant viewers. Moreover, kids really do not fit the following image of the symbiotic relationship shared among Fox and its viewers.
