GOP Indifference To US Gun Kiliings, White Privilege And A Declining Society

Excuse the following image digression, but the topic cannot receive appropriate scrutiny and probing without current political context.

Yesterday we published this quick hit (w/video)

Mass Murder: Bush and Trump  "This Stuff Happens!"  (VIDEO)

Embedded image permalink

When the US conservative moves to exhibitions of "I wanna be cool" we know we are in the midst of a campaign season.

Jeb Bush. "Cool" is the anathema of US conservatism. It is horrifying to see people who want for nothing based on their financial wherewithal play the "Gia me five game" when most people know their hearts are as far from cool as the devil.

Watch as Donald Trump and Jeb Bush react to questions of this week's mass killing. In essence "shit  stuff happens."

Donald Trump

"Stuff happens?"

Even if conservative politics ordains absolute indifference to such killings, how is it presidential candidates can show this extent of callousness and indifference to an issue that is an affront to humanity?

No, stuff does not simply happen. Crime is a behavior that is more often than not preceded by mental processes that include deployment of one's perspectives on life, perspective on the world around them, and their deeply self-serving perception of self and how they would shape their world. All of the aforementioned unfortunately reaches back into the lives of the shooter. What drives the common thread of vastly predominant white males as mass killers? What of the common method of killings? The killing weapon is a critical significance and the most recent episode on mass killing in Oregon has uncovered 14 weapons owned by or within easy access of the killer.

We offer a quick review of the a set of data posted in 2012. The common thread of the white male as killer is both telling and shameful. While the author of he web page develops pieces and writes with significant focus on male/female interaction, the following excepts from the 2012 piece has relevance as we consider today's mass killers. We should also point-out the table below was developed with specific ;attention to school killings

From the same 2012 piece, take a look at a drill-down regarding race and gender of the perpetrators.
The Shooters
Unlike mainstream media, I will not glorify or give further notoriety the perpetrators in this post, identifying them only by sex and age. Firstly the basics – sex, race and age of the perpetrators:
Sex of the shooter is fairly much a no-brainer – female spree/school shooters are rare, and the one entry here is only because I lowered the level to three fatalities.
Race of the shooter – there is a nearly 80% chance that the perpetrator will be white.
Age group – broadly speaking, there is about a one-third representation for teens, twenties, and 30-52.
While whites make up almost 73% of the US population, the 79% white mass shooting perpetrators is not surprise. The graphic regarding the gender of the perpetrators, tragically also is no surprise. But, the table nor the associated article can adequately address the underlying basis of and contributors to the white guy as a self-directed and self-appointed killer.

In addition to an ability to acquire weapons, the killer's (in many cases) suffer from another manageable reality. Their acts are ultimately exhibitions of a demented form of  "White Privilege."

American Privilege like no other

White privilege (or white skin privilege) is a term for societal privileges that benefit white people in Western countries beyond what is commonly experienced by non-white people under the same social, political, or economic circumstances.[note 1] According to McIntosh and Lee, whites in a society considered culturally a part of the Western World enjoy advantages that non-whites do not experience.[1] The term denotes both obvious and less obvious passive advantages that white persons may not recognize they have, which distinguishes it from overt bias or prejudice.[2] These include cultural affirmations of one's own worth; presumed greater social status; and freedom to move, buy, work, play, and speak freely.[1] The effects can be seen in professional, educational, and personal contexts.[3] The concept of white privilege also implies the right to assume the universality of one's own experiences, marking others as different or exceptional while perceiving oneself as normal.[4][5]
On White Privilege
White skin privilege is not something that white people necessarily do, create or enjoy on purpose. Unlike the more overt individual and institutional manifestations of racism described above, white skin privilege is a transparent preference for whiteness that saturates our society. White skin privilege serves several functions. First, it provides white people with “perks” that we do not earn and that people of color do not enjoy. Second, it creates real advantages for us. White people are immune to a lot of challenges. Finally, white privilege shapes the world in which we live — the way that we navigate and interact with one another and with the world.

Since the phrase can be inflammatory and often met with reticent disbelief, Let's en-capsulize it (from just above): "white privilege shapes the world in which we live — the way that we navigate and interact with one another and with the world." When coupled with mental instability, social deprivation, and learned racism (probably from a parent) we have a recipe for social deviates who kill or who affiliate with those who bond in hatred.

Mass killers are the purist for of terrorist. They act alone in perpetrating their assumed and deviate privilege, but they are not the deepest threat to our society.  A deeper threat is the growing reality of white supremacist and the tacit acceptance of their ever-present support for the GOP.  Privilege grown to a level of social madness.

If we move past the social (dating) web post of the Oregon killer and his self-proclaimed "republican/conservative" identifier, we find a cult-like sub culture that aligns with American conservatives. The FBI as far back as 2012 identified white supremacy as as national threat as great as any other. Even earlier in 2006 the investigative and enforcement wing of the Justice Department also identified the extent to which supremacist are infiltrating law enforcement. Between the two FBI warnings, in 2009, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano spoke of similar infiltration among discharged vets as targets of extremist groups. Why was she forced to apologize for her remarks?  Supremacy a bigger threat to the u s than isis
It’s reported that many white supremacist groups are encouraging their members to join the military in order to acquire free training for what they call “Rahowa,” short for racial holy war. In recent years, the U.S. Defense department has stepped up efforts to ferret out white supremacists and other “rogue” elements within the military. The 1995 Oklahoma City bombing was carried out by two former Army soldiers and the bombing killed 168 people. These soldiers had ties to anti-government militias.
Many — if not most — anti-government militias are deeply connected to white supremacist organizations. One strong indicator that these groups hold strong racist views is this chart, which shows the astounding rise in “Patriot & Militia” groups from 1995-2012.

Interestingly, we notice a huge spike in numbers after the election of President Obama in 2008. Yes I know conservatives will say it’s because of his “Anti 2nd Amendment” policies. They’ll say that I’m “jumping to conclusions.” If you believe that, then I have some prime beachfront property in Louisiana I’d love to sell you.

If the FBI is accurate and current manifestation of white male mass killers is a reality, it is impossible to simply deny growing white privilege. It is also impossible to ignore growing infiltration of white supremacy as endemic in the GOP. Of course, You know what follows, conservative subservient support for firearms sales rounds out the information triad that signals a proven path to horror.

Why did we start this piece with imaged quips of Jeb Bush and his role in establishing law that has been cloned in just about all states inn the United States? Why did we move from Bush's role in "Stand Your Ground" legislation to nascent comments from Bush and Trump regarding the killings in Oregon?
