AddictingInfo: Ferguson Police Busted

Re-post from AddictingInfo Dot Org

Ferguson Police Busted – Attempt To Defame Shooting Victim Blows Up In Their Face (VIDEO)

AUTHOR AUGUST 18, 2014 5:00 PM
Mike_Brown_Paying
When the Ferguson police department released the name of Darren Wilson, they also chose to release video footage which they claimed was of Michael Brown robbing a convenience store for some cigars.
The problem is, the video shows Michael Brown at the register, paying for the cigars.
From observation, it looks as if he had tried to buy more, but then was unable to afford it, hence why he left several packets on the counter. This prompted the store owner to come out from behind the counter and have a discussion with him, which prompted the shove witnessed in the full video.
Whatever words were exchanged between the man in the video and the store owner, they were not considered very serious, as the store owner nor the employees did not report a theft at the store. According to the stores attorney, the owners were bewildered when the police approached them demanding the surveillance tapes.
The store owners are now afraid of themselves becoming a target, due to the Ferguson PD’s attempt to tie their store to the fateful shooting. A gross abuse of police authority, one which now puts someone else at risk.
Even if Michael Brown were a petty thief, this does not excuse the cold-blooded shooting death of the 18-year-old. Of course the right-wing took the robbery claim at face value, and began labeling Michael Brown as a ‘thug‘ who did not deserve due process.
But instead it looked like he was a teenager who was enjoying a few cigars which he purchased at the local store. The store owners did not claim he stole from them. Video evidence shows him paying for the cigars found on him. The police attempt to paint Michael Brown as anything but a victim is a complete and total fraud.
Michael Brown was to start college last Monday, and was preparing to start his own business upon graduation. Officer Wilson cut short a promising young man before he could truly get his start in the world. It is a story so tragic due not to this isolated case, but for how common this is in America.
The United States is racing the results of decades of legitimized racism. Ever since President Reagan made it ok to bash the poor, so long as they were black, the progress in race relations in this country has been undone. Now we are facing the obvious result of this criminalization of African-Americans in the US. Is it not time to say enough is enough, and stop putting the blame on the victims?

Addictinginfo: She is an Idiot! (Palin)

Someone Finally Informs Sarah Palin That She’s An Idiot, And It’s A Veteran (VIDEO)

Sarah Palin Is Finally Informed That She's An Idiot As She Uses Veterans As Political Pawns During Tea Party Rally (VIDEO)
Sarah Palin was called an idiot by a member of the audience at the Tea Party rally, the Million Veteran March. Watch the video. Image: CKM AddictingInfo.org

Sarah Palin can’t take a hint. It’s been six years since she lost her bid to become Vice-President of the United States, and yet she won’t go away. Even though her stupidity has turned off voters to the point where she’ll never again be a candidate for the highest offices in the land, she keeps coming back like a bad rash. You have to wonder if she even understands what most people think about her. Well, during her speech at a Tea Party rally, she was duly informed.

Sarah Palin gets called an idiot during her Tea Party rally speech.

On Sunday, as Palin used military veterans as political pawns during a Tea Party rally speech to protest the closing of war memorials, a member of the audience loudly told her that she’s an idiot. Senator Ted Cruz, Senator Mike Lee, other Tea Party Republicans turned in the direction of the heckler who bravely confronted her. Even Palin paused to look around.

PALIN: “This is a matter of shutdown priorities…”

AUDIENCE MEMBER: “You’re an idiot!”
PALIN: “…Our vets have proven that they have not been timid, we will not be timid in calling out any who would use our military, our vets, as pawns in a political game.”

Here’s the video via Occupy Democrats.

Military veterans were outraged and scolded Palin and the Tea Party for hijacking the Million Vet March.

Of course, most military veterans saw right through Palin and her rhetoric. After all, the Tea Party had hijacked the ‘Million Veterans March’ that had been organized by veterans. The Tea Party shamelessly used the non-partisan event to attack Democrats. During the rally, veterans scolded Palin as she attempted to accuse President Obama and Democrats of playing political games with them. Many pointed out that Republicans were the ones who caused the shutdown in the first place. However, Tea Party Republicans didn’t give a damn about what veterans actually think. They were too busy using veterans as pawns to shift blame for the government shutdown to Democrats.

The organizers of the march have since expressed their anger about the Tea Party takeover of the event.

“The political agenda put forth by a local organizer in Washington DC was not in alignment with our message,” the ‘Million Vet March’ website stated. “We feel disheartened that some would seek to hijack the narrative for political gain. The core principle is about all Americans honoring Veterans in a peaceful and apolitical manner.”

Sarah Palin is an idiot for using veterans as pawns for political and monetary gain.

‘Apolitical’ means not supporting any political group, even the Tea Party. But Palin and her right-wing cohorts only saw an opportunity to get photo-ops and pretend that all soldiers stand against President Obama and Democrats. Palin also may have seen it as a chance to step into the spotlight to generate interest in her new book. So not only did she use veterans for political gain, she used them for monetary gain as well, which truly makes her the queen idiot of the Tea Party.

Addictinginfo Does Gohmert After He Attacks McCain (Video)

Tea Party Rep. Louie Gohmert Accuses Vietnam Vet John McCain Of Being In Bed With Al-Qaeda (VIDEO)

The Republican Party civil war over the government shutdown has boiled over to the point where members of the Tea Party are now accusing moderate Republicans of supporting terrorists. During a speech at the Values Voter Summit in Washington DC, Texas Tea Party Congressman Louie Gohmert viciously attacked John McCain. Gohmert accused the Arizona Republican and Vietnam War veteran of being an ally of Al-Qaeda, the terrorist organization that was responsible for the 9/11 attacks in 2001.

Tea Party Rep. Louie Gohmert says John McCain is a supporter of Al-Qaeda

“I heard just before I came some senator from Arizona,” Gohmert said referring to McCain. “A guy that liked Qadaffi before he wanted to bomb him, a guy that liked Mubarak before he wanted him out, a guy that’s been to Syria and supported Al-Qaeda and rebels. But he was saying today ‘The shutdown has been a fool’s errand.’ And I agree with him. The President and Harry Reid should not have shut this government down.”
Here’s the video via Raw Story:

Why did Gohmert attack McCain?

Why did Gohmert turn on McCain? Because McCain blamed Republicans for the government shutdown and called holding America hostage in the effort to defund Obamacare a “fool’s errand.” McCain had appeared on Fox News before Gohmert spoke at the Summit on Friday.

Here is coverage of Senator McCain’s appearance from Talking Points Memo:

Last week, Republicans used World War II veterans in a shameless political photo-op to make themselves look like heroes. They pretended to care about military vets in order to get good press. But now that a Vietnam War veteran has spoke up in opposition to the Tea Party shutdown, extreme right-wing congressmen like Gohmert are quick to disrespect those who fought for our country. It’s another example of how conservatives are eating their own. If you’re a Republican and you don’t agree with extreme conservatism, the Tea Party sees you as an enemy and they’ll attack you like Gohmert just attacked McCain. Saying such things about any war veteran is despicable. McCain, like him or not, has served America for decades. Attacking his patriotism by insinuating that he’s in bed with Al-Qaeda is unforgivable.

Republicans are being attacked by the Tea Party monster they created
For years, Tea Party Republicans have been relentlessly referring to Democrats as terrorists while moderates like McCain stood by silently. Now those very same Tea Party Republicans are playing the terrorist card on fellow Republicans who aren’t toeing the extreme conservative line. In a way, it’s poetic justice. After all, McCain did choose Tea Party darling Sarah Palin to be his running mate in 2008 and Republicans continued to build the Tea Party monster to serve their purpose of capturing the House two years later. With that monster came violent rhetoric, lies, a rejection of facts, ignorance, name-calling, an extreme right-wing agenda, an unwillingness to compromise, racism, etc… Now Republicans are getting a taste of how the Tea Party has attacked Democrats all these years. How long will Republicans tolerate being attacked by the lunatics in their party before they fight back by doing the right thing and reopen the government?

Addicting Info: Proof Of GOP Strategy To Shutdown The US Govnerment

We are going to re-blog a piece from AddictingInfo Dot Org that is critical to understanding the republicans are fulfilling a strategy regarding shutting down the Federal Government. The genesis of the strategy? Elisabeth Parker will explain in the piece.

The complete article is available via the "Read More via Addictinginfo" link at the bottom of this page.  Feel free to simply go to the Addictinginfo link, if you prefer.

House GOP plot to shut down U.S. Government over Obamacare infographic by Elisabeth Parker for Addicting Info.
This shocking memo shows just how far the House GOP — and their wealthy paymasters — will go in order to deny healthcare to the American people. House GOP Plot to Shutdown U.S. Government Over Obamacare infographic by Elisabeth Parker for Addicting Info.
On September 30th, Rachel Maddow told us how the House GOP planned to shut down the U.S. government since at least 2010. More and more Americans know who to blame for the Obamacare standoff: Recent polls show voters may hand Democrats the House in 2014. But Republicans are still in denial. Now, The New York Times has proof positive that the House GOP’s to blame, in the form of a Coalition Letter from FreedomWorks, dated February 14, 2013. Funded by the Koch Brothers and other wealthy donors, FreedomWorks funnels money to Tea Party candidates and causes. And the letter proves that this shutdown isn’t just the result of stubbornness on both sides, or botched negotiations.

The House GOP — and their wealthy masters — will go to amazing lengths to deny people access to healthcare

FreedomWorks’ peculiar Valentine to the American people outlines a harsh, uncompromising strategy for getting rid of the Affordable Care Act at all costs. Never mind that the American people voted for Obamacare and the Supreme Court upheld its key provisions as constitutional. The House GOP — and the people who pay them — will go to amazing lengths to deny people access to healthcare:
Conservatives should not approve a CR [continuing resolution] unless it defunds Obamacare.  This includes Obamacare’s unworkable exchanges, unsustainable Medicaid expansion, and attack on life and religious liberty.

… And here’s how you shut down the U.S. Government

This letter to the Tea Party coalition — including its bought and paid for House GOP members — then details how to shut down the Federal government if Congress refuses to “delay the implementation of Obamacare”:
A mere “date-change CR” is unacceptable.  Although the Obama administration and others will argue the CR is not the appropriate legislative vehicle to defund Obamacare, it is easily done through a series of appropriation riders.  Because the CR represents one of the best vehicles possible to delay the implementation of Obamacare, it must not be used to bargain on the upcoming sequester.
The letter was originally presented to FreedomWorks as a memorandum from the Conservative Action Project. Led by the late President Ronald Reagan‘s former Attorney General Edwin Meese III, CAP held a hush-hush meeting at an undisclosed location in the Capitol shortly after President Barack Obama started his second term. After the meeting, leaders from over 36 conservative groups signed on to this evil strategy. If you have the stomach for it, you click here to read the entire thing.

House GOP government shutdown bought and paid for by the Koch brothers

Sheryl Gay Stolberg’s New York Times article also reports that the David and Charles Koch, and their affiliated groups, threw some pretty big bucks around. Freedom Partners distributed $200 million to various “grassroots” anti-Obamacare groups. Meanwhile, the Americans for Prosperity plunked down $5.5 million for anti-Obamacare television ads. Freedom Partners also paid an additional $115 million to the egregiously misnamed Center to Protect Patient Rights. Meanwhile, the youthful and comparatively thrifty Generation Opportunity spent a scant $740 thousand on their creepy Uncle Sam ad. in hopes of scaring us away from Obamacare’s state health insurance exchanges.
Oh, and in case you’re one of the increasingly fearful members of the House GOP, and your voters show up on your lawn with torches and pitch forks, you can explain yourself, with help from the Tea Party Patriot’s handy “Defunding Obamacare Toolkit.”

“When it comes to ‘can’t keep the lights on’ failures of basic governance [...] that is just how they planned it.” — Rachel Maddow on the House GOP’s government shutdown

Even before FreedomWorks’ letter came to light, Rachel Maddow best explains how the House GOP planned on shutting down the government all along:
“This is not an accident that keeps happening over and over again. Republicans control one half of one branch of government, and they have never had any plan to use that control to pass anything into law. [...] We are deep into year three of them running the House now. We’ve got zip from them in terms of law or policy. And, we’re at seven and counting when it comes to ‘can’t keep the lights on’ failures of basic governance. And that isjust how they planned it.”
In retrospect, this all makes sense. .....

Republican Speaker Compares Latinos To Donkeys At Anti-Immigration Reform Rally (VIDEO)

Logo of the Second International Congress of Eugenics, 1921, a reminder of where the ideas of xxx have their root.
Republicans have made no secret of the fact that they really hate the hispanic community. Despite losing the 70 percent of the hispanic vote in the 2012 Election, House Republicans have absolutely refused to pass the comprehensive immigration reform bill passed in the Senate, and conservatives across the nation have been foaming at the mouth to primary any Republican who votes for or endorses the legislation. It is a known fact that the GOP needs to do something to gain an increase of support among Latinos or they risk losing elections by large margins in the future. But many Republicans refuse to vote for any bill that gives a path to citizenship to 11 million undocumented immigrants. Since the argument for reform began, the GOP has demonstrated a clear hatred of Latinos that has spilled into the open. From voter ID laws meant to suppress Latino voters to claims that Latinos have lower IQs than white people, to using the term “wetback,” conservatives don’t seem to care that their political existence is on the line. It was only a matter of time before racism would rear it’s ugly head again, and now it has.

During a “jobs” rally turned anti-immigration reform rally just steps away from the Capitol Building in Washington DC, a conservative speaker sang the praises of racial purity and compared Latinos to donkeys, saying that inter-breeding with them would stain the DNA of white Americans. Apparently that is a major reason why conservatives don’t support immigration reform, because it will lead to inter-breeding that will hurt the white race, and therefore the conservative voter base.
According to the Rachel Maddow Show, a reporter from The Nation magazine caught a not-yet identified speaker on tape saying the vile words which are as follows:
From those incredible bloodlines, Thomas Jefferson, and George Washington, and John Smith, and all of these great Americans, Martin Luther King Jr., these great Americans that built this country, you came from them. And the unique thing from being from that part of the world, when you learn about it, you can’t breed Secretariat to a donkey and expect to win the Kentucky Derby. You guys have incredible DNA , and don’t forget it.
Here’s the video via MSNBC:
To this conservative speaker, white Americans are prized racehorses and Latinos are donkeys that need to be prevented from breeding with each other to avoid tainting the DNA pool.
High profile Republicans Rep. Steve King of Iowa, Senator Ted Cruz of Texas, and Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions were all in attendance at the rally and spoke at the event. All are major opponents of immigration reform. Will any of them denounce this clear instance of racism? Or do they share the same sentiments?
The Republican Party is no longer valid political party in the United States. The GOP values ideas that belong in the 1800s and clearly rejects the diversity of America that has made this country great. Overt racism will certainly not help Republicans in the long term as demographics swiftly change and the conservative base of white voters slowly shrinks and disappears. It’s a numbers game that minority voters are winning. Combine the growing power of minorities with the white voters who support Democrats and it’s a recipe that spells doom for the GOP. At this point, even if Republicans pass immigration reform in the House it will not help them with Latinos because the GOP has crafted a clearly anti-immigration message and will thus only be viewed as reluctantly passing the bill out of sheer desperation for political viability, proving that Republicans never cared about Latinos all along. And the words spoken at the DC rally embodies exactly how Republicans feel about Latinos.

Wall Street Fees Robbing Retirement From Seniors – How The 401k Is A Payday For Bankers (VIDEO)

The American Dream is dead, and Wall Street has killed it. From the dream of home ownership, the dream of a good education to the dream of a good paying job, the root of the collapse of the American Dream can be laid at the feet of greedy Wall Street execs. Wall Street has pushed for laws and policies allowing them to legally rob from the middle class while stagnant wages have pushed millions millions into poverty. But as the Baby Boomers reach retirement, a new problem rears its ugly head as it turns out that the same Wall Street bankers which engineered the death of the other aspects of the American Dream have also taken hundreds of thousands out of their retirement accounts, eliminating the dream of a comfortable retirement for millions of Americans.

PBS’s Frontline looked into this, after studies found that the compound fees within mutual funds were causing hundreds of thousands of dollars to be taken out of people’s retirement accounts, put straight into Wall Street bankers pockets. What they found was that not only was the study accurate, but that it has been only getting worse.

For a simple recap, Wall Street applies compound interest on any mutual funds it manages. This in turn adds up over time. Using the compound interest calculator from Money Chimp we can find that, using the maximum donation of 15% on someone making $44k a year using an average 6% return, but switching from a 3% annual fee to a 1%, it can bring a 40 year savings for retirement from $1,199,777.42 to $700,413.56. That is almost $500,000 of your money which went into wall street banker pockets, money intended for your retirement. Add in the “revenue sharing” fees handed over to the middlemen, ones retirement can be turned from your golden years, to a life or death struggle, even dumping retirees into prison when their retirement funds run dry prematurely. Combine this with the effort to privatize Social Security, allowing Wall Street to pocket even more of your retirement money, an ugly truth emerges.

Oil Spills, CNN, Fox News, Propaganda Via No Coverage

Oils spills today, Oils spills tomorrow, Oil spills forever!

_____________________________________________

As we move closer to a decision on approval or nopn-approval of the Keystone XL Pipeline (KXL), we must remain mindful of the downsides of moving fossil fuel derivatives. We at the TPI have written long, hard and in detail about the XL pipeline. We have also posted protest updates from Tar Sands Blockade Dot Org.  Yet, we can never do enough.

The onslaught of information about the downsides of the XL Pipeline is overwhelming.  From the Right we hear lies about jobs (Daily Kos,  TP Climate Progress  (video), National Wildlife Federation Facts and Myths, Cornell University ILR School Study) and energy self-sufficiency, from the Left we hear about spills, environment intrusions (invasions) on behalf of commerce, damage to regional aquifers, other environmental concerns.

Ultimately, President Obama and the Secretary of State Kerry will decide.   We, the People, have no say in a second massive structure across our continental heartland.

There is an existing Keystone pipeline crossing the heart of the nation. The KXL will be much more massive and include fissures that will transport derivatives far too close to the nation's number one North to South (to the Gulf) waterway: the Mississippi River. We have no say in a decision that could render aquifers,  breadbasket land and one of the worlds major water ways ruined for millenniums. Remember the Exxon Valdez and the Gulf Oil Spill.

Upworthy Dot Com and Addictinginfo Dot Org (Excerpted story below) have independent of each other published telling information about our recent history with oil spills. I am reticent to place links to past TPI KXL screeds as you have probably read them. If you have not read any TPI screeds on Keystone XL Pipeline, help yourself via the Search box in the right sidebar.

There are times when we receive messages from guiding forces. The Upworthy piece to follow appears as one such comprehensive message.

Upworthy Dot Com

The message is stark, grave and eye-opening!

As stated above there is another poignant message among the many related to man-made environmental threats. Related yet different from an information perspective. If you did not know the Mayflower, Arkansas spill of two weeks ago was caused by another underground pipeline delivering Tar Sand Oil to a predestined terminal, a reliable source of information fills the gap.  Addictinginfo not only reminds us of that tragedy, the information source also delves into another alarming fact: media avoidance of recent oil spills by CNN and Fox News.

CNN And Faux News, A Conspiracy Of Silence On The Mayflower Tar Sands Spill (VIDEO)

Today I was struck by the fact that CNN is now no better than FOX when it comes to reporting anything even mildly controversial. To test this theory, I visited each site and entered an identical term.
The term I chose to search was “Mayflower Tar Sands.”
On the bright Red side of the internet, I found the following gems.
A very fact filled and informative article on Faux News was first on the list. “It’s obvious that the rupture was not the fault of the state and the state has been damaged in addition to the private property owners” Arkansas Attorney General Dustin McDaniel said to Exxon Mobil in a terribly soft-handed and kid-gloved approach to the situation.
This one from Fox Business News, all fluff and no substance whatsoever, on how Arkansas’ attorney general is planning an investigation. Everything’s cool here, some of ya’ll can go home now! Just ignore that smell…
Over to CNN, proudly neither Red nor Blue and sadly the news here is just as anemic. In a statement that confounds the logical mind, Representative Lee Terry of Nebraska stated the Keystone XL pipeline “is primed to give our economy a shot in the arm and make energy more affordable — and it won’t cost the taxpayers a dime.” If I tried to follow the logic of this I’d end up taking a long walk off a short pier. To see why Rep. Terry’s statement makes my head hurt, consult Pipeline Timmy on Mother Jones.
35 jobs is just the shot in the arm our economy needs, said no one ever.

We realize CNN is fighting hard to stay above the water level ratings.  How better to 'steal' viewers from the number one cable network FOXPEN (Fox News Propaganda and Entertainment Network) than to mimic its appeal to large number of viewers? CNN as the former leader in cable news has dissolved into a long lost memory of coverage past. Coverage from a by-gone era influenced by modern day quests for ratings that result in to major conservative news networks. If you think that language is a bit harsh, think about no middle ground news outlet between FOXPEN and MSNBC. Now, take your thought processes one step farther: the impact of not knowing real facts and data, tragedies and current events relative to "Big Oil".

While we do not expect better from FOXPEN?      CNN may find its current third place slip below that of Current TV. Of course, we know that is not possible, but we also know that is no fourth place in cable news. If environmental catastrophe is not important enough to garner serious coverage on CNN, the network fails as a news source. When it fails as a new source and avoids coverage of oil spills, it effectively renders itself propaganda outlet.  A propaganda outlet that does not disseminate relevant news for no reason beyond political considerations and viewership.

A LONG List of Reasons Why You Should Be Thankful The President Was Reelected – With Citations

If you’re one of those folks who thinks President Obama is a “disappointment,” you haven’t been paying attention the last few years. And those of you who try to draw comparisons with the Bush Administration should put away the hallucinogens and have your memory checked. If you were in a coma for the eight Bush Years, I apologize and forgive you. But please join the real world. So far, this president has done most of what he said he would do if elected; imagine what he could have done by now if progressives had supported him and not given him a Congress that doesn’t look at him as if he’s the demon seed.

Not only is he NOT a “disappointment,” he’s pretty much the opposite. And no, I don’t just say that because he took out Osama bin Laden, helped Libya determine their own destiny for the first time in a while, and because he seems able to handle international incidents without starting a new war. The guy does nearly everything we elect a president to do, and he doesn’t brag about it constantly.

Is he perfect? No, he’s human. Does he deserve some criticism? I suppose, but I must admit I haven’t seen any complaints that were of based on anything having to do with the real world. One I can’t forgive him for is pulling Janet Napolitano out of Arizona. But the thing is, on balance, he’s mostly stellar. Besides, criticism about certain specific problems is one thing; taking on an overall “Obama sucks” meme not only has the potential to put Willard Romney into power, it’s also a lie. Just because you wanted a president who would give you a glitter-farting unicorn and didn’t quite get that doesn’t mean he’s not doing well at the job we hired him for.

What follows is a PARTIAL list of Obama’s accomplishments so far. Unlike many such lists, there is a link to a citation supporting every single one.

Legislative Prowess

Despite the characterizations of some, Obama’s success rate in winning congressional votes on issues was an unprecedented 96.7% for his first year in office. Though he is often cited as superior to Obama, President Lyndon Johnson’s success rate in 1965 was only 93%. http://n.pr/i3d7cY

Fiscal Responsibility

Within days after taking office, he signed an Executive Order ordering an audit of government contracts, and combating waste and abuse. http://1.usa.gov/dUvbu5

Created the post of Chief Performance Officer, whose job it is to make operations more efficient to save the federal government money. http://n.pr/hcgBn1

On his first full day, he froze White House salaries. http://on.msnbc.com/ewJUIx

He appointed the first Federal Chief Information Officer to oversee federal IT spending. http://www.cio.gov

He committed to phasing out unnecessary and outdated weapons systems, and also signed the Weapons Systems Acquisition Reform Act to stop waste, fraud and abuse in the defense procurement and contracting system. http://bit.ly/hOw1t1 http://bit.ly/fz8GAd

Through an executive order, he created the National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform. http://bit.ly/hwKhKa

Improving the Economy, Preventing Depression

He pushed through and signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, otherwise known as “the stimulus package,” despite the fact that not one Republican voted for that bill. In addition, he launched recovery.gov, so that taxpayers could track spending from the Act. http://1.usa.gov/ibiFSs http://1.usa.gov/e3BJMk

In his first year, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act created and sustained 2.1 million jobs and stimulated the economy 3.5%. http://reut.rs/i46CEE

He completed the massive TARP financial and banking rescue plan, and recovered virtually all of its costs. http://1.usa.gov/eA5jVS http://bit.ly/eCNrD6

He created the Making Home Affordable home refinancing plan. http://1.usa.gov/goy6zl

He oversaw the creation of more jobs in 2010 alone than Bush did in eight years. http://bit.ly/hrrnjY

He oversaw a bailout of General Motors that saved at least 1.4 million jobs, and put pressure on the company to change its practices, resulting in GM returning to its place as the top car company in the world. http://lat.ms/zIJuQx

He also doubled funding for the Manufacturing Extension Partnership which is designed to improve manufacturing efficiency. http://bit.ly/eYD4nf

He signed the Fraud Enforcement and Recovery Act giving the federal government more tools to investigate and prosecute fraud in every corner of the financial system. It also created a bipartisan Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission to investigate the financial fraud that led to the economic meltdown. http://abcn.ws/g18Fe7

He signed the Credit Card Accountability, Responsibility and Disclosure (CARD) Act, which was designed to protect consumers from unfair and deceptive credit card practices. http://1.usa.gov/gIaNcS

He increased infrastructure spending after years of neglect. http://bit.ly/f77aOw

He signed the Helping Families Save Their Homes Act, expanding on the Making Home Affordable Program to help millions of Americans avoid preventable foreclosures. The bill also provided $2.2 billion to help combat homelessness, and to stabilize the housing market. http://bit.ly/eEpLFn

Through the Worker, Home Ownership, and Business Assistance Act of 2009, he and Congressional Democrats provided tax credits to first-time home buyers, which helped the U.S. housing market recovery. http://bit.ly/dZgXXw http://bit.ly/gORYfL

He initiated a $15 billion plan designed to encourage increased lending to small businesses.
http://1.usa.gov/eu0u0b
