As Trump's World Turns: The Art of the Lie And Defense Of Two Allies

Is there any wonder Trump would draw four Pinocchios from the Washinton Post fact-finders?  If you are thinking, "yes" quite a surprise, take a few minutes to see how 45 manages his life as President of the United States.

The world awakened to the daily diarrhea of Trump Tweets.  From comment about Asad to an FBI Probe to an example of banana republic justice system tampering akin to that of Putin's Russia.  Take a read of pure and unadulterated defense of the indefensible.  In one case, a US congressman's charged with insider trading (of which there are audio tape and video documentation). Another case involces a California congressman who has practically pleaded guilty via shifting total blame for campaign funds abuse to his wife.

Two long running, Obama era, investigations of two very popular Republican Congressmen were brought to a well publicized charge, just ahead of the Mid-Terms, by the Jeff Sessions Justice Department. Two easy wins now in doubt because there is not enough time. Good job Jeff......
Trump offers-up a defense which includes the reality the two potential felons were early su[p[prters, as well as bemoaning the potential loss of two safe Congressional seats. Actually, there is no way the New York state seat will be lost, and I personally doubt Duncan's seat, if left vacant, will be won by a Democrat. Nonetheless, the sleepless and frightened Trump places politics well beyond the law.  The nation's 45th President opts for attacking Jeff Sessions, via the use of two blatantly shameful Republicans for sake of tickling his base.
Aol via Reuters offers a quick read summary of the charges against the two members of Congress Trump has used as a tool against his Attorney General.

Trump accuses Sessions of hurting U.S. Republican congressional races

In Aug. 8, Congressman Christopher Collins, a Republican who was candidate Trump's first supporter in the House, was charged with participating in an insider trading scheme involving an Australian biotechnology company on whose board he served. Collins has denied wrongdoing but will not seek re-election.
Despite Trump's claim that both investigations began under Democratic President Barack Obama, Collins was charged over trades in June 2017 - nearly six months after Trump took office.
On Aug. 23, Republican Representative Duncan Hunter was indicted on charges that he and his wife used hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign funds to pay for vacations, video games and other personal expenses and filed false campaign finance reports, federal officials said.

There once was a time in the US when actions such as the defense of potential felons from a sitting US President was unheard of.

Oh, times they are a changing.

Bundled Hatred: "I Hate Gay People 'With A Passion'

Earlier in the week we experienced yet another random killing via a person who was so obviously insane, his loved ones should have committed him for psychiatric assessment.

Despite statements from his mother about her son "Flipping-out" or "snapping", anyone who knows even minuet details about deep rooted hatred, bigotry and racism, the psycho/social shortcomings start at home. Kenneth Morgan Stancil III, 20 years of age, is the latest example of social deprivation gone mad.

After hsi arrest this week, Stancil's mother did what the vast majority of mothers would do, she worked to rationalize just how her son could have shotgun killed a 44 year old college instructor.

AoL (quotes and comment on a per quote basis.)
Kenneth Morgan Stancil III, 20, was arrested early Tuesday in Florida, a day after authorities say he shot and killed Ron Lane, 44, a print shop director at Wayne Community College.
"He had a moment of insanity. I don't know," Stancil's mother, Debbie Stancil, said. "He just snapped. That is not my son," she said. "He's probably out of his mind. I think he needs mental help."

"He just snapped." I suggest his problems go far beyond "just snapping."

It appears he snapped many years ago.

"He had a moment of insanity." Really? Really now Mom, work with us here....A moment of insanity?.....Seriously? Stancil's Moment of insanity predates his 20 years of age and probably by a long shot.

Stancil is now granting interviews. You had to know his life is full of hatred of the LGBT, "race mixing" (we can assume he is a racists), an affinity for Nazism, and you had to know his education level seems to have stopped well before secondary school. Talking Points Memo (Muckraker) is reporting with details that we could have assumed via the images of Stancil at his booking.

They've got muck; we've got rakes.TPM MUCKRAKER

Read a few select passages from the linked piece. After the brief passages consider visiting PN form the full piece.
"I'm like a wizard," Stancil said. "Sometimes I can float, sometimes I can fly. Not literally speaking."
"The man's a child molester, man," Stancil said.
He claimed his boss had made advances toward a male relative.
"He ain't physically touch him but he was in the proposal to try to," Stancil said. "You know, and I wasn't gonna let that happen." When asked if he was a white supremacist, Stancil asked for clarification before confirming that he was a neo-Nazi.
"I am a neo-Nazi but, you know, I don't define with any group, you know. Obviously I will when I go to prison but, you know, that's just how things work. You understand?" Stancil said. "I try to look out for my fellow white people as much as possible, you understand? And, I don't believe in race mixing."
Read more linked above

Basically, what we have with Stancil is the most nascent case of human beings who have fallen under the deep paradigm of "white privilege", white nationalism, and the ultimate state of social deprivation,: "white supremacy."  Supremacy  I posit is the natural etastasization of policy and strategy from the GOP back through Richard Nixon and honed to a fine political science during the Reagan Years (and his strategist Lee Atwater). The GOP "Southern Strategy" is as responsible for deaths via white supremacist as the person who executes the innocent victim. Hatred never stands alone. The person who harbors deep racial hatred undoubtedly harbors similar hatred of the LGBT community and probably nurtures deep rooted gender bias. But, know hatred bundles as thoroughly as your Comcast Infinity or your AT&T Uverse bundles.

Southern Strategy (WIKI)

Kevin Phillips and Nixon
In American politics, the Southern strategy refers to a Republican Party strategy in the late 20th century of gaining political support for presidential candidates in the Southern United States by appealing to regional racial tensions and history of segregation.[1][2]
......Although the phrase "Southern strategy" is often attributed to Nixon's political strategist Kevin Phillips, he did not originate it[10] but popularized it.[11] In an interview included in a 1970 New York Times article, Phillips stated his analysis based on studies of ethnic voting:
From now on, the Republicans are never going to get more than 10 to 20 percent of the Negro vote and they don't need any more than that...but Republicans would be shortsighted if they weakened enforcement of the Voting Rights Act. The more Negroes who register as Democrats in the South, the sooner the Negrophobe whites will quit the Democrats and become Republicans. That's where the votes are. Without that prodding from the blacks, the whites will backslide into their old comfortable arrangement with the local Democrats.[1]
While Phillips sought to increase Republican power by polarizing ethnic voting in general, and not just to win the white South, the South was by far the biggest prize yielded by his approach. Its success began at the presidential level.
Now let's move a few years forward to that great Father of Modern Conservatism: Ronald Reagan. Again and I remain longstanding in my posit ronald Reagan's years mark the beginning of the extreme social and racial divide we live with each and every day of our lives. what Kevin Phillips did for Richard Nixon was taken to the next level for Ronald Reagan.

Lee Atwater and Ronald Reagan
Bob Herbert, a New York Times opinion columnist, reported a 1981 interview with Lee Atwater,[43] published in Southern Politics in the 1990s by Alexander P. Lamis, in which Atwater discussed the Southern strategy:
Questioner: But the fact is, isn't it, that Reagan does get to the Wallace voter and to the racist side of the Wallace voter by doing away with legal services, by cutting down on food stamps?
Atwater: You start out in 1954 by saying, "Nigger, nigger, nigger." By 1968 you can't say "nigger" — that hurts you. Backfires. So you say stuff like forced busing, states' rights and all that stuff. You're getting so abstract now [that] you're talking about cutting taxes, and all these things you're talking about are totally economic things and a byproduct of them is [that] blacks get hurt worse than whites. And subconsciously maybe that is part of it. I'm not saying that. But I'm saying that if it is getting that abstract, and that coded, that we are doing away with the racial problem one way or the other. You follow me — because obviously sitting around saying, "We want to cut this," is much more abstract than even the busing thing, and a hell of a lot more abstract than "Nigger, nigger."[44]
Herbert wrote in the same opinion column, "The truth is that there was very little that was subconscious about the G.O.P.'s relentless appeal to racist whites. Tired of losing elections, it saw an opportunity to renew itself by opening its arms wide to white voters who could never forgive the Democratic Party for its support of civil rights and voting rights for blacks."[43]
Political advantage was callously promulgated to win elections; it also lead the nation in: "It is OK to be a bigot."  What is the next level of social deprivation beyond bigotry. The question  was rhetorical.

The nation now suffers from a social phenomenon that leads to millions casting votes for a party that has grown to a racial demographic of 89 - 92% white. The figures denote racial divisiveness that far exceeds the level of political ideology based on fiscal conservatism. Voters are casting social votes and voting themselves into economic ruin, perpetual war and a deeper social divisiveness that has grown to manifest as regressive and oppressive.

It takes only three graphics to depict the impact of the GOP southern strategy and its ugly and dangerous side.

It looks as if when Democrats win the White House, hate crimes jump to exponential heights. The graphic above adds another perspective on hate crimes; look at the far right set of bar chart indicators. That makes race an undeniable denominator.

The data is stark and undeniable. What we have left for Ronald Reagan's snuggling with "race as a political tool" has metastasized into a true monster. Unfortunately, the reality is Stancil' s mother, with due amounts of respect for being a mother, cannot claim her son "just snapped." Her son snapped many years ago and the snap may have receive inertia from his early environment.

The nation simply must return to a time when over racism and acceptable levels of bigotry were locked in a closet with a sign: "UNACCEPTABLE, DO NOT OPEN"

Suspected Al Qaeda Operatives Last Mission in Yemen

.....when you visit a barbershop, need a haircut.

We at the TPI are not war mongers. We are very about the business of dealing with enemies when enemies deserve any level of action necessary to eliminate them as an enemy.

If you think such is outside the scope of liberalism, think about the kidnappers in Nigeria and also think about the equally heinous Timothy McVeigh. Bad actors who would have been candidates for eliminated as physical beings well before their heinous acts.

Last month,  I recall hearing a report of two Yemeni men shot dead by American officials assigned to US operations in Yemen. As is often the case with remote and vague reporting two things took place. My initial reaction to the story was a reserved thought of why are we even in these countries. In hindsight, I should have considered the need for vague reporting. Another brain exercise related to actions that led to the shooting. The latter cognitive process, albeit latent ,was probably 'dead-on' and apropos.

Media is reporting the dead Yemenis were Al Qaeda affiliated and may have been part of a scheme to kidnap foreign nationals. If you have preference for the quick read, the two Americans who shot the Yemeni men work respectively for the CIA and a "special operations commando." Apparently, one of the US officials sought personal grooming via a haircut. As I read the following stories, the thoughts of good fortune, both officials were not seated in the barber's chair.

After I finished reading the following pieces and viewing the short video, my thoughts again turned to another Al Qaeda affiliated group that kidnapped 276 school girls. What is it about (alleged Islamic) fighters that leads to kidnap as an acceptable form of warfare?

Americans in Yemen shooting were getting haircuts

SANAA, Yemen (AP) - One of the two officers at the U.S. Embassy in Yemen who shot and killed a pair of suspected al-Qaida gunmen was getting a haircut at a barbershop when the attempted abduction took place, Yemeni security officials said Sunday.
The attempted kidnapping April 24 is the latest evidence of al-Qaida's expanding presence in the capital, a serious challenge to the authority of the already weak central government. It also could strain ties between Yemen and the U.S., which has launched an aggressive campaign of drone strikes against suspected al-Qaida fighters in the country.
The barbershop, owned by a longtime Indian resident, is on Heda Street, a commercial road in the southern part of the city where some of Sanaa's best restaurants, supermarkets and high-end boutiques are located.
The Yemeni officials said the armed militants arrived in a battered SUV and burst into the shop shouting: "Police! Police!" The officials said one of the two Americans was having his hair cut, while the second waited for his turn.
They said one of the Americans killed both militants before the pair jumped into their waiting SUV and drove off. Owners of nearby stores rushed to the barbershop on hearing the gunshots but the Americans already had left, the officials said.

Civilians killed by U.S. in Yemen tied to al-Qaida

We are not allowed to post the piece. If you want to read a good accounting of the foiled kidnapping attempt, The Bulletin posted a great piece. We are unable to share The Bulletin piece. We have linked the piece here.

SANAA, Yemen — The kidnappers pulled up in a pickup truck outside the Taj barbershop in an upscale neighborhood here in the Yemeni capital. One held an AK-47 assault rifle and the other carried a stun gun. As the men went inside, nearby shopkeepers heard shots.
Then a foreigner — tall, with the physique of a body builder, and holding a black gun — was seen standing over one of the mortally wounded attackers in the doorway of the barbershop, witnesses said. The foreigner kicked an automatic weapon out of the man’s hands, looked right and left down the street, jumped into a nearby sport utility vehicle and drove away.
Those new details emerged Saturday about a shooting last month in which the Obama administration said two Americans from the United States Embassy killed two armed Yemenis who were trying to kidnap them from the barbershop.

While much about the encounter remains unclear, a Yemeni official said Saturday that the two Yemeni assailants were part of a cell linked to Al Qaeda that had planned and executed several attacks on foreigners in the country. Whether by design or chance, the official said, the Americans had apparently disrupted a kidnapping ring that government officials blame for killing a Frenchman last week, kidnapping a Dutch couple last year, trying to assassinate a German diplomat last month, and attacking the central prison here in February, freeing 19 inmates.
