As Trump's World Turns: " I won the popular vote!"

Trump
California "admitted" there were "a million" illegal votes in the 2016 presidential election.
— Donald Trump on Sunday, June 23rd, 2019 in an interview on "Meet the Press"          Pants on Fire!

Do you remember the major lie Trump told MSNBC's Chuck Todd regarding not actually losing the popular vote in 2016?

Yes Donald Trump, you most assuredly lost the popular vote and you became president via a flawed voting system which should be abolished, or as a minimum, update to account for historic slow vote count districts.

Hillary Clinton was the recipient of the final vote count in 2016: 2.84 million votes more than Trump.

America we have a problem. Some states are passing legislation which will award that states based on the winner of the popular vote in the state

I digress.

After running across a Politifact's review of Trump's claim of not losing the popular vote, I thought I would archive a bit of it on The Progressive Influence.

If you don't wish to expose your self to lying Donald Trump a key portion of the variable is posted below.

Politifact's Text:

Todd: "You didn't like the fact that you lost the popular vote. That bothered you, didn't it?"
Trump: "Well, I think it was a -- I mean, I'll say something that, again, is controversial. There were a lot of votes cast that I don't believe. I look at California."
Todd: "Mr. President."
Trump: "Excuse me."
Todd: "But that’s a …"
Trump: "Take a look at Judicial Watch. Take a look at their settlement. California admitted to a million votes. They admitted to a million votes."
Todd: "A million votes of what?"
Trump: "Take a look at Judicial …
Todd: "What are you talking about?"
Trump: "Judicial Watch made a settlement. There was …"
Todd: "About what?"
Trump: "There was much illegal voting."
President Trump claimed there’s proof to support his repeatedly debunked claim that "serious voter fraud" took place in California during the 2016 presidential election.

Well.....

POLITIFACTS REVIEW

Every day we live through the minutes with the ever-resent prospect of yet another Donald Trump lie.  Is this a healthy way to live?  While the question is rhetorical for Americans with rational minds, it is nonetheless a relevant query for those who seemed to have lost their minds via a form of Trump cultism.

Chuck Todd Challenged Congressman Jeffries; What Happened With Brokaw?

Yesterday one of MSNBC's resident conservatives and his production team hosted a segment replete with what some thought would be a balanced discussion of politics. As is the case with all things conservative, the segment ended with a dud comment from a Paleozoic Era NBC Nightly News host. A host who really should relegate himself to the role of a quiet conservative. Before we comment on Tom Brokaw's comments, let's digress some to make a point about Todd's production and the reality of a conservative show host flapping around like a fish out of water seeking to support Trump.

Congressman Hakeem Jeffries D-NY. last week
“These are challenging times in the United States of America — we have a hater in the White House, a birther in chief, the grand wizard of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue,” Jeffries said at an event hosted by the National Action Network in Harlem. “One of the things that we’ve learned is that while Jim Crow may be dead, he still got some nieces and nephews that are alive and well.”
As we consider the United States since July 2015, it is impossible to avoid recognition of significant changes in national leadership. Leadership which reaches to the very top of federal governance: The 45th US President. In addition, to an overwhelming increase in nation's spending, as the Trump economy added $2 Trillion to the US deficit since January 2009, social regression in many forms has reached back to the days of the 1940s.

We are writing about matters related to Trump.

In the late summer of 2017, white supremacists and Jew-hating white men (and some women) held a well-planned protest against the removal of a confederates general statute in Charleston, SC.

After the dust settled Trump and his staff worked to clean up his support for the white supremacists via perfunctory remarks which made little to no sense.  A year later Trump was reported to have stated his efforts to minimize his support for "both sides" was a  mistake. According to Bob Woodward via his book, Trump privately stated he regretted the efforts to clean up his "both sides" comments.

Let's visit a bit of data regarding growing racist hatred since Trump took office. Growth which he has yet to directly challenge.

And, not a word of caution or condemnation from Trump. How could or why would Trump condemn when he has a current and past history of close association with the likes of:

Image result for trump inner circle white supremacists

And of course, you recall Trump was the leading messaging regarding the racist attacks on Barack Obama's citizenship as the 44th US President.

Lets now play around with a related loose syllogism.

Syllogism
  • Major premise: All men are mortal. Minor premise: Socrates is a man. Conclusion: Socrates is mortal. (This is an example of Aristotle's famous "Barbara" syllogism.)
  • Major premise: Plants need to carbon dioxide to live. Minor premise: The oak tree is a plant. Conclusion: The oak tree needs carbon dioxide to live.
Image result for syllogism examples

Major premise: Whites supremacists and anti-Semites are major Trump supporters.
Minor premise: The Ku Klux Klan and US Nazis are white supremacists.
Conclusion: Trump is a favored leader of white supremacists and anti-Semites.

US leaders of white supremacists and anti-Semites have for more than a century followed leaders who were referred to as "grand dragons."

Why would MSNBC's Chuck Todd join at least one CNN host in challenge Representative Jeffries use of an apropos metaphor regarding t/rump?  Why would Todd use the word "apology" when we have a man in the White House who has delivered the most heinous and disgusting attacks on fellow Americans?

The simple answer is the false belief that an occupant of the White House is due an artificial level of respect even when the occupant has proven to regard no one outside of his family with even an iota of respect.

Even though what follows took place at the end of the Sunday Show, It seems Todd hasn't issued a comment about Tom Brokaw's foray into the ugly fissures of racism.

No matter Brokaw's intent, one's inner core values tend to eventually ooze to the surface. I offer such is especially true when given a platform such as Todd's Meet The Press. And especially when you have another well known Trump supporter sitting across the table in the form of MSNBC's Hugh Hewitt.

Do you recall Todd's remarks to an Ohio state official regarding the official's right to seek voter ID laws in his state? Only a conservative show host and ideologue would go there. Todd went there.

GOP Talking Head Challenged (VIDEO)

I once read an article written by a writer in the home state of the GOP's Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn (R-TN). I walked away from the piece with to clear mental images.

First Blackburn has yet to meet a camera she doesn't find appealing. As a former beauty contestant, it seems her fantasy of never-ending attractiveness is an existential reality. She is mistaken beyond explanation.

Another point was Blackburn penchant for mouthiness. I totally agree. The one thing that is common among all GOP and conservative talking heads is their devotion to on-camera interviews strategy akin to the technique Mitt Romney used against Barack Obama during the 2008 Presidential Debates. Romney successfully, without question, Gish Galloped Obama into a first debate loss. Fortunately, the wily and ever-present competent Obama and his team prepared for the next debate; Romey never won another debate.

If you are a person who watches cable news you ay have noticed the use of the technique tweaked for use against TV hosts. You have seen the technique may be without recognition when you see conservatives guess (surrogates, pundits et al) on cable news shows talking incessantly without a pause. Incessant comment without a spouse isn't the critical issue. The issue is the talking heads know reach news segment has hard start and end times. They know the host generally can not extend the length of a segment and must follow direction from the booth to end the segment If the Gish Galloping talking head refuses to allow other points of view or refuses to allow the host to adequately performance a productive interview.

Marsha Blackburn is the supreme Gish Galloper.  MSNBC's Chuck Todd must have prepared well for the babbling nonsensical Blackburn.

Chuck Todd Scolds Marsha Blackburn Over Russia: 'Where Is The Urgency?'

Chuck Todd's interview with Rep. Marsha Blackburn started with a bang right out of the gate when he began with a question to her about James Comey's testimony yesterday and Russia. Chuck Todd was trying to get some idea of how Blackburn (and Congressional Republicans) feel about Russian interference in our election by mentioning Comey's emotional…

Trump Branding Approval Ratings And Gallup Update

Polls, Polls, and more polls.

While Survey/Monkey and Rassmussen have Trump's approval rating moderately over 40%, and McClatcthy/Marist and Gallup have published results at 39 to 40% approval, we feel it worthwhile to post a video with Chuck Todd's running through a few key public perception rating data.

The uniqueness of the BNC polling is in polling focus on the Trump brand.
Respondents were asked three separate questions:
  1. Would you be more likely to use a product endorsed by President Trump?
  1. Would you be less likely to use a product endorsed by President Trump?
  1. Would you actively boycott a product endorsed by President Trump?

We offer the link to the Todd segment while closing with a few graphics from the piece.

Isn't it amazing how the graphics parallel the following graphic:

And we wonder why we have so much partisanship in the US Congress.

UPDATE: Since publishing this piece earlier today, we ran across a recent release from Gallup
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- President Donald Trump's image among Americans as someone who keeps his promises has faded in the first two months of his presidency, falling from 62% in February to 45%. The public is also less likely to see him as a "strong and decisive leader," as someone who "can bring about the changes this country needs" or as "honest and trustworthy."

Over the past two months, Trump's ratings have declined at least marginally on all six characteristics that Gallup measured in its April 5-9 poll. The percentages saying he cares about the needs of people like themselves and that he can manage the government effectively slipped three to four percentage points, but the changes are not statistically significant.

Shameful America Guided By US Conservatism

"Damaging"(minority support for the party)? Did someone say "Damaging".... Better referred to as extinguished minority support. Does the GOP think there is anything it can do to recoup now?

I read the set of statements earlier today after I read a headline about how Trump may become the target of uber GOP money backers and establishment GOP operatives. Apparently the oligarchs feel he is ruining the party's opportunity to win in 2016 via his over-the-top bigotry and racism.  The word "damaging" is well outside the box Trump has drawn for the party on the RightHe is garnering significant support from white supremacists and white nationalists, and tapping into that inner core of Amercian conservatism that contributes to GOP membership which is 92% white.

As we consider Syrian refugees and all of the nascent paranoia and flak from the Right (and, yes some from the Left), data again delineates reality.

As stated above reports are some in the GOP are working against Trump.
A team of establishment GOPers is launching a "guerrilla" campaign against Trump, who is damaging the party's ability to appeal to minority voters.
Seth Meyers handed it to the GOP field and laid a cutting line to Ted (immigrant father) Cruz.

CNN's challenge to the phoniest of the phony.https://youtu.be/YYOFyYMegFU

If you have a couple of minutes to devote to watching and listening to how a Muslim woman dealt with Chuck Todd's shill reporting (hosting). MSNBC should be ashamed of its airing of Todd on shows with a storied history such as Meet the Press. he is so obviously a far right news operative and has never shown an inclination to be a fair and balanced reporter. Watch.....especially towards the end of the 2:09-minute segment.

Todd's question was as ridiculous and ill-advised as GOP 2016 candidate's insistence on President Obama labeling heinous terrorism as the product of "radical Islam." Yet, not one GOP candidate (and frankly few Democrats) offer condemnation of homegrown white male terrorism.

From Chuck Todd's conservative messaging to a deeper illustration of an ideology running on dangerous.  Iowa Seve King offered his patented form of bigotry and racism and it mirrors that of party leader Donald Trump.

Rep. King in his splendid bigotry.

Did Jib Bush actually mention a "religious tests?"  One person simply does not agree.

Can anyone imagine life in the United Stats with a Republican in the White House, majority GOP members in both congressional houses, and an even more conservative SCOTUS? If you can reach that level of horror, imagine the outlawing of people who are not Christian, herding and incarceration  atheist and agnostics, and from there only Lucifer knows.

Fox News has done it again. Network managers and producers are so busy painting Vladimir Putin as a world's savior (white horse, no shirt and all), it's writers busily concocted a headline based on a Tweet.  Fox offer its readers and viewers the false report of a quote they attributed to Russia's Putin.  The quote didn't emanate from the Russian leader; it was straight out of the movies.

Let's start with a November 18, apology from a Twitter account.

You are curious about the quote, aren't you?  “To Forgive The Terrorists Is Up To God, But To Send Them To Him Is Up To Me,”  Did you nail the source of the quote?

https://youtu.be/LZDIju_EFlc

Alas, the quote didn't even come from a white guy. It was written into the script of Man of Fire, starring Denzel Washington.  Oh, the sadness of it all.  Earlier in the week Fox News broadcast a segment with comments exhorting Obama to copy the comments of one of the show's leading actors. The show is fiction delivered via the mind a writer earning millions while consuming Lattes in the comfort of offices and multi-million dollars buildings.  It didn't end with Fox News. Even earlier in the week Joe Scarborough, MSNBC's Morning Joe Show also visited Homeland as a model for the nation's 44th President.

How deep will conservative America allow its media to take to the depths of fantasy and reality TV?

Will the action actually allow paranoia and media led fear to further drive us away from values that once propped up a (formerly) great nation? Not one of the killed of captured Paris terrorists were from Syria.

Chuck Todd Again Proves He Is Unfit For National Media

NBC's Meet The Press SNAFU: Chuck Todd

Host of NBC’s Meet the Press Chuck Todd apologized Monday morning for airing a video which featured convicted murderers expressing regret for committing gun violence, all of whom were black.
The segment received harsh criticism, predominantly from liberal viewers and outlets, for being racist in the wake of the murder of nine African-Americans at the hand of a white man in Charleston. The criticism was so harsh
Todd posted a long statement on the Meet the Press website defending airing the segment, but apologized on Twitter after being criticized by Al-Jazeera’s Soledad O’Brien.

Just inappropriate: "Meet the Press should make all viewers uncomfortable at some point or we are not doing our job"

@chucktodd @meetthepress the privilege of not having to be aware of your own color.

.@DoctorLeRoyH @soledadobrien We’ve heard you. We clearly got it wrong and we are sorry.
