TPI Morning Gazette: Duggars, Trump, Cotton "Monkey Man"

Non-Progressive News

The Learning Channel folds the Matunity ward on the Duggars.

19 kids

Arkansas's Tom Cotton is a former army officer who served in combat units across Bush's war theaters. He managed to out politic his opposition to secure a seat on the US Senate, but Scott apparently has a knowledge void that is both telling and sad. He has fought enemies in parts of the world without possessing an "Officer and A Gentleman's" level of knowledge of theater geography and nation capitols.

We certain do not expect all US politicians to know world geography with an ability to extemporaneous recite nation's capitols, but to blow it on Iran's capitol city?   We think the very under-educated Scott Walker knows the capitol of Iran.

How do you feel about the prospect your wife, daughter, mother or grandmother receives less pay than her male coworkers with no redeeming rationale for the inequity. There is a real prospect it is happening, has been longstanding and will not relinquish its male "good ol boy" genesis without a world wide intervention.

Well, let's be fair half the nations depicted in the following graphic need to work to being pay inequity into the 21st Century.

Wage gap data is for full-time employees and is defined as the difference between male and female median wages divided by male median wages. (OECD)
If you recall President Obama's first official act after moving to the Oal Office in 2009 was to sign the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay ActOver the course of Obama's time in office, we haven't found one indication the GOP has any level of empathy regarding fair pay and equitable pay for women.

Republicans Unanimously Block Equal Pay Bill ...

An absence of conservatives......

Last week the National Council of La Raza held its annual conference. After Reince Priebus's apparently insincere comments after the 2012 general election loss to Barack Obama, his party needs a lobotomy to posture for the future. Well, Preibus was either totally naive in his proclamation-like suggestion or Preibus has been thwarted like a scurrying pest by the core of his party (and its ideology). Donald Trumps anti-immigrant/ anti-Mexico message truly speaks to the core values of the GOP as evidenced by his nascent lead in public opinion poling among Republicans.

Additional evidence of Priebus's failed grip on key matters related to US conservatism ad his party is his lack of ability to have any current presidential candidate attend the La Raza conference. Both political parties need the Latino vote to win national elections. the fact that Latino population in California has surpassed white population is an indicator of the significance of that segment of the voting public. Yet, not one GOP top candidate attended and event; an indication of disdain for a populace and an indicator of a party with 92% white membership.

On the other side of the political spectrum:

Democrats at NCLR — Clinton, O’Malley, and Sanders attended, as did HUD Secretary Julian Castro — were quick to remind the audience of Trump’s comments and paint them as representative of the GOP as a whole.
NBC News, part of a larger media entity that cut ties with Trump, reported on the event:
“I have just one word for Mr. Trump — Basta! Enough!” Clinton said to cheers.
“And to all the other Republicans running for president, why did it take weeks for most of you to speak out?” she said. “The sad truth is even if some of the other candidates now condemn those words if you look at many of their policies, it’s hard to tell the difference.”
Message received! Need say no more!

The Daily GOP Ignominious: Fox News's Megyn Kelly Has Issues With Release of Duggar Molestation Records

Click this link for more Kelly rationale, but Kurtz could not totally agree. Yet, Kurtz got his MSNBC dig in!

Fox News is not only circling the wagons around the Duggar family, its most prolific rationale "gunslinger" (excuse the weapon metaphor), Megyn Kelly, seems taken aback by the release of the Duggar scandal records.

Megyn Kelly is an attorney by profession. One would think she and her production team would check Arkansas State law record Freedom on Information requests before airing segments with disdain for the Duggar's molestation cases.

Mediaite places the Kelly, Duggar and Fox News defense in proper perspective.

Ark. City Attorney Defends Legality of Releasing Duggar Police Report

josh-duggar2-300x197
There’s been a pretty big debate these past few weeks over the legality of the release of the 2006 police report invoking the multiple incidents where Josh Duggar molested young girls as a teenager, including his own sisters. A judge recently ordered the report to be destroyed, and Megyn Kelly––who interviewed the Duggars––said it was released illegally.
Well, tonight, the city attorney of Springdale, Arkansas released a statement defending the legality of the report’s release.
Here’s the statement in full:
On 5/20/15, in full compliance with Arkansas Law, the Springdale Police Department responded to a records request under the Arkansas Freedom of Information Act. The requested record was not sealed or expunged, and at the time the report was filed, the person listed in the report was an adult. Any names of minors included in the report, as well as pronouns, were redacted from the report by the Springdale Police Department in compliance with Arkansas law prior to release.
In Touch, the magazine that broke the story in the first place, fired back today by also insisting the report’s release was legal.

Does Fox News have a legal team? Corporate attorneys are masters at seeking answers via legal publications. Arkansas statutes are a matter of pubic record, Or, does the network focus more on the immediate message to the unsuspecting and the unknowing LIVS (low information viewers/voters) who patronize the network?

Fox News Avoids the Duggar Family Revelations! News Network Or Propaganda Outlet?

The Learning Channel (TLC) is reported to be in consideration of "dropping" or "spinning off" the conservative Duggars (and their 19 kids) reality show after revelation of  their son Josh's(now 27) molestation of four of his sibling sisters an another victim.  If you are like, you never heard of their show except for the rantings ravings and criticism form reality show sycophants who tune-in for weekly doses of television malpractice and habitual voyeurism. Correction, I hope you're not like me in many regards, but when it comes to reality TV we should seek a bit of common grown.  A coupe of years back I found myself on the outside with a couple of intern friends and family members who were weekly followers of Duck Dynasty.  I also had never once viewed the show, but the thought of a family of "Bayou Bigots" appealed to me as much as sitting in front of my refrigerator with the freezer compartment open watching and waiting for ice cubes to freeze.  It took Phil Robertson's lying comments about how he never heard southern blacks complaining about the horrors of Jim Crow. He knew because he worked beside blacks in the fields."

The Robertson "blacks and Jim Crow" lie spun off a few associates and relatives who previously giggled through the show each week.  A mass defection hit when Robertson went here:

I digress for sake of showing the bottom-dwellers of American conservatism.

Media Matters ran a piece on yesterday that clearly shows the hypocrisy and lack of decency missing as an inner core of conservatism. If You Only News offer a piece that proved irresistible. The piece is posted beow. As you read the piece, think about why a major cable news networks would completely avoid coverage of a story that strives at the heart of conservative values. The question is answered as it states. The word "News" differentiates Fox News for CNN and MSNBC. Rather than coverage an international story, Fox opts to avoid sharing reality with its viewers.

It’s not exactly shocking, but Fox News has largely ignored the controversy surrounding the revelation that conservative hero and former hate group operative Josh Duggar molested four of his sisters and one other unnamed victim.
Ever since it was revealed that Duggar had molested five children as they slept, the Right has been almost desperate to defend what honor they imagine Josh Duggar possesses. Some have disgustingly said that Duggar was justplaying doctor” with the sleeping children, while other — like former Fox host Mike Huckabee — have simply offered their full support to their favorite child molester. One relative even asserted that anyone would molest a child, if the opportunity was there and there were no consequences.
It would be unwise for Fox News to take a public stance in support of Duggar, so they are doing the next best thing: pretty much pretending nothing happened. Media Matters notes that “while MSNBC and CNN have reportedly heavily on the Duggar scandal, Fox News has largely ignored the story.”
According to a Media Matters analysis, Fox News spent less than two minutes covering the story between May 21 and May 25, compared to almost an hour of coverage from the other cable news networks,” the media watchdog points out.
egergeFox host Howard Kurtz even took 41 seconds of his time on May 24 to criticize the rest of the media for “piling on” by bringing attention to Duggar’s association with numerous Republican politicians, including many of the GOP’s 2016 presidential hopefuls.
“The Duggar controversy has put Fox News in an awkward position,” Media Matters notes. “Before he resigned the day In Touch‘s story broke, Josh Duggar was the head of the Family Research Council’s (FRC) political wing. Representatives of FRC, an anti-gay hate group that routinely links homosexuality to pedophilia and describes LGBT people as a threat to children, are a regular fixture on Fox News.”
When it comes to the Duggar situation, there’s much to discuss. Jim Bob, who campaigned for Senate on a platform that called for the execution of child molesters like his son, waited a full year after learning of his son’s horrific actions.
When Jim Bob did report it, he and Josh told a friend who was a state trooper. That friend is currently serving 56 years in prison for possession of child pornography, but he says that the Duggars lied to him before he gave Josh a “stern talk.” According to disgraced Arkansas cop Joseph Hutchens, the Duggars told him that Josh only molested one girl, one time, and through the clothes. Hutchens says that, had he known the full extent of Josh’s actions, he “might have done more” to address the situation.
Instead of facing an actual punishment, Josh Duggar was sent to counseling at a center founded by a man who eventually resigned after it was revealed that he was grooming young teens and women for sex. There, Duggar learned that he need only claim God forgives him to continue about his existence with a clear conscience. Worse, though that same philosophy, his victims were taught that they were at fault for the damage their brother did to them.
This should be a nonpartisan issue. Child abuse is wrong, no matter what. Conservatives, unfortunately, have decided that the hate Josh Duggar and his family represent is more important than the horrific crimes the Duggar son has committed.

Josh And The Fairly Duggars And Their Secret! FRC Speaks In "Tongue"

Hypocrisy is ugly, living as frauds is inexcusable, but wallowing in the very lifestyle you so often speak out against is well... read the closing passage of this piece.

TLC

  • A top 10 cable network for women
  • Targeting adults 25-54, particularly women
  • Launched: November 1980 (acquired by
      Discovery in May 1991)
  • Subscribers: More than 94 million U.S. households;
      302 million international subscribers

I am proud to admit, I had absolutely no idea knowledge of the "Duggars"  prior to the recent revelations of child abuse. His leadership of the Family Research Council (FRC) also speaks volumes about the hypocrisy of many on the far Right.

It is important to remind of a couple of core Duggars values belief systems, especially for those who follow the simple mindedness and voyeurism of reality TV.  They family is a darling of conservative America, vehemently anti-LGBT and has a core belief of no human touching among the opposite sexes (prior to marriage). Well, the latter is a major problem as the money grabbing Duggars who have hidden a secret from the pubic well beyond the inception of their Discovery Communications show.

The family is so "core" Conservative and a flagship clan for the GOP, party heavy weights and presidential hopefuls seem to line-up for their photo opportunity with Josh Duggars.
Embedded image permalink      My Google search did not yield photos with Ben Carson nor Lindsey Graham .....UUUM, intriguing.

Josh Duggar has recently resigned his executive director of the FRC (leadership role!). The 27 year ultra conservative is suffering from revelations of sexual abuse of a younger sister and the like abuse of five other children. Seems like he partook in "pre-marital touching" against the very values belief that has brought the family wealth! The family's show on the Learning Channel has been suspended and he has apologized for his acts. The ever present apology.

APOLOGY? Really? I seriously don't think the mere sexual abuse ripe for forgiveness nor is the apology sufficient cleansing (punishment). My issues with a Duggar apology has nothing to to with protocol and the act of apologizing. My concern has much more to do with the egregious acts, the family cover up for many years, earning millions for the Duggar family and for The Learning Channel (get that The Learning Channel!) and up the corporate ladder to Discovery Communications. It should be noted Discovery networks for some reason seems to contract and broadcast a number of shows that have predominantly conservative audiences.

CNN has offered comprehensive segments regarding the flagship conservative family. Here is a piece with ample background about the family and the Josh Duggar's child abuse.

http://cnn.it/1Ln87wm

CNN also offered an updated segment which included comment from CNN's media host Brian Stelter, Reliable Sources.

While TLC has suspended filming and pulled remaining episodes of the Duggar Show, the network's website description (linked above) should lead to consideration of dropping the show like a hot potato (excuse the expedient use of the cliche).

Did this guy actually say "child safety?"

"When you wallow with PIGS, the pig loves you. First, you wallowed in his pig pen at his level, and now you Stink! "

UPDATE: The FRC offers as sheepish and stagen a statement imaginable regarding their recently resigned Executive Director.

Think Progress....
The FRC statement, posted only on its website’s front page (as opposed to a dedicated press release page that would be archived), simply states, “Today Josh Duggar made the decision to resign his position as a result of previously unknown information becoming public concerning events that occurred during his teenage years. Josh believes that the situation will make it difficult for him to be effective in his current work. We believe this is the best decision for Josh and his family at this time. We will be praying for everyone involved.” The organization, committed to protecting children and families, never identifies the “concerning events” nor condemns Duggar’s behavior.
Again....
"The organization, committed to protecting children and families, never identifies the “concerning events” nor condemns Duggar’s behavior."
WHAT? "Plausible Deniability?"
