Sante Fe Shooter Bullied? A Father's Excuse

The danger of firearms in the hands of the irresponsible.

After last Friday's high school killings perpetrated by a 17-year-old student, I like most wondered how did such a young person get his hands on a .38 revolver and a shotgun. We wondered but really deep down we knew: a parent.

Do you recall the first victim of the Connecticut school shooting was actually the shooters mother in their home? The shooter's mother was an avid firearm enthusiast and had provided firearm trying for her son.

Parenting?

The state of humanism where it all begins, where it is all shaped and where it is the earliest stages of learning.  It goes without saying, it is the state of humans where life actually gets its first shot of failure (for some young people). All parents are not good parents.

It took only a few hours for reports regarding the shooters father to come forth.  On Monday, Antonios Pagourtzis told the Wall Street Journal (in a phone interview) his son probably reacted to the environment at the school as a catalyst to his mass murder.
He said his son was a “good boy” and had been “mistreated at school.”  He went on to say, " (his son) Dimitrios was bullied and “I believe that’s what was behind” the shooting.
Question, is it really possible a "good boy" would ear this to school every day.  Even if his mission was to avoid appearing plump, how about the badges.

Image result for santa fe shooter's jacket The jacket simply doesn't appear to be that of a person who was a constant victim of bullying. What about the tee shirt he was known for frequently wearing at the high school?

Dimitrios Pagourtzis Facebook page
Bullied? A recent piece via Heavy dot com offers five facts about the shooter. One item includes information the father has at least one case of public support from Right-wing demagogue and NRA advertisement sponsors Dana Loesch.

ABC News ran a segment (view at the 2:18-minute mark) which shed more revealing light on the shooters background, inclinations and facts about the shooting.

The most critical question going forward relates to the prospect the father may be charged as an accessory to murder. ABC News affiliate  WFAA broadcast a segment related to possible charges. The short answer is authorities are investing the matter. Despite legal verification of the unlawful nature of facilitating a weapon for a purse under 18, the decision hasn't been made regarding charges.

The father should be charged, in my opinion.

Dana Loesch: Typical NRA & American Racist Conservative

Yes, what she said I call controversial and flat-out racist. It isn't racist in the sense of overtly showing disregard for the many black mothers who appear on TV crying. No, it is much more subliminal. It is controversial and racist regarding Dana Loesch's exercising white privilege to the CPAC microphone ...and receiving accolades for spewing her racism.

Yet the spokesperson for the NRA is both highly paid, "controversial" probably deep core racist and a wanton titillation of white supremacists and Americna racists.  In 2017.  Bill Moyers and Company published a piece which illustrates how Dana Loesch serves the NRA and the millions across the nation who overtly and covertly subscribe to American racism.

Let's take a look and listen back to 2017.

NRA Issues Call for White Supremacy and Armed Insurrection

The gun lobby's new "recruitment ad" is really a call for white supremacy and armed insurrection, deliberately crafted to stir anger and fear.

BY BILL MOYERS AND MICHAEL WINSHIP | JUNE 29, 2017

Take a look at the ad below and ask whether the National Rifle Association can go any lower. Ponder this flagrant call for violence, this insidious advocacy of hate delivered with a sneer, this threat of civil war, this despicable use of propaganda to arouse rebellion against the rule of law and the ideals of democracy.

On the surface, this is a recruitment video for the National Rifle Association. But what you are really about to see is a call for white supremacy and armed insurrection, each word and image deliberately chosen to stir the feral instincts of troubled souls who lash out in anger and fear:

Disgusting. Dishonorable. Dangerous. But also deliberate. Everything deplored by the NRA in the ad is committed by “they” — a classic manipulation turning anyone who disagrees with your point of view into “The Other” — something alien, evil, foreign.

“They use their media to assassinate real news,” “They use their schools to teach children that their president is another Hitler,” “They use their movie stars and singers and comedy shows and award shows to repeat their narrative over and over again.”

“And then they use their ex-president to endorse the resistance.”

Well, we all know who “they” are, don’t we? This is the vitriol that has been spewed like garbage since the days of The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, blasted from lynch mobs and demagogues and fascistic factions of political parties that turn racial and religious minorities into grotesque caricatures, the better to demean and diminish and dominate.

It is the nature of such malevolent human beings to hate those whom they have injured, and the NRA has enabled more injury to more marginalized and vulnerable people than can be imagined. Note how the words “guns” or “firearms” are never mentioned once in the ad and yet we know that the NRA is death on steroids. And behind it are the arms merchants — the gun makers and gun sellers — who profit from selling semiautomatic rifles to deranged people who shoot down politicians playing intramural baseball, or slaughter children in their classrooms in schools named Sandy Hook, or who massacre black folks at Bible study in a Charleston church, or murderously infiltrate a gay nightclub in Orlando.

Watching this expertly produced ad, we thought of how the Nazis produced slick propaganda like this to demonize the Jews, round up gypsies and homosexuals, foment mobs, burn books, crush critics, justify torture and incite support for state violence.

It’s the crack in the Liberty Bell, this ad: the dropped stitch in the American flag, the dregs at the bottom of the cup of freedom. It’s a Trump-sized lie invoked to bolster his base, discredit critics, end dissent. Joseph McCarthy must be smiling in hell at such a powerful incarnation on earth of his wretched, twisted soul.

With this savage ad, every Democrat, every liberal, every person of color, every immigrant or anyone who carries a protest sign or raises a voice in disagreement becomes a target in the diseased mind of some tormented viewer. Heavily armed Americans are encouraged to lock and load and be ready for the ballistic solution to any who oppose the systematic looting of Washington by an authoritarian regime led by a deeply disturbed barracuda of a man who tweets personal insults, throws tantrums and degrades everything he touches.

Look again at the ad. Ask yourself: What kind of fools are they at the NRA to turn America into a killing ground for sport? To be choked with hate is a terrible fate, and it is worst for those on whom it is visited.

Take one more look, and ask: Why do they get away with it? What is happening to us? How long do we have before the fire this time?

Exploring a Network Cancer Part II: The Examiner.com....CNN analyst and radio show host compares union bosses to plantation owners

CNN

Cross posted with permission from The Liberal Examiner

Scott Walker able to hold on in the Wisconsin recall election, Republicans and conservatives across the country are gearing up for the November election and are prepared to attack union workers more than ever. Conservatives often attack unions and their workers because the union demands fair wages for the employee. Private sector unions negotiate with the business owners to create a balance of equal pay and treatment in the workplace. Public sector unions negotiate with the local governments to create the same fair balance between worker and employee, in the public sector case, the state and local government.

Exploring a Network Cancer: CNN's Affinity for Dana Loesch (Part I)

He surely leaves a legacy  Loesch, his legacy will include unethical video editing and outright editorial lies.

Why does CNN continue to employee Dana Loesch?  Loesch has a past that involved active Tea Party membership and she is an active participant in the Far-Right domain of AM radio. The Examiner.com's, Robby Sobel, has written a piece about  Loesch's her use of a metaphorical reference to slavery in her right-wing radio broadcast. The domain of AM radio is truly the relam of older whites who for the most part support the GOP and conservative values. Loesch's latest  mis-step is right out of the mouth of Limbaugh, Beck, Coulter and Maulkin. If we explore a bit it is not hard to see why the aforementioned demagogues influence minds on the Right.

Can you remember ever hearing a Left-leaning radio host? If you can remember one, is the host still on the air? The Left-wing radio host are an extinct species. They just do not represent a social and political paradigm that draws listeners.

Progressives simply do not spend hours upon hours listing to Radio broadcast.  Example, I am a prolific listener of NPR, but only if I am in my automobile. A bit of information about news viewers and listeners before I move to a great screed from the Examiner.com's Robby Sobel (The Examiner.com , Part II).  A Fairleigh Dickinson University study reported on people who view of listen to US national US media. The survey is linked via an article on Poytner.org.

Cybercollege.com publish and April 2012 article on radio listeners, format preferences and listener choices.  The article includes  a brief reference to Talk Radio.
News/Talk
>>Overall, the largest share of the overall radio audience today listens to news/talk stations. (These are also referred to as "News/Talk/Information" and "News/Talk/Personality.")

The overwhelming majority are considered conservative in their perspective and they have gained popularity primarily by attacking political parties and politicians they deem as "liberal."

The popularity of Talk-Radio among the nations conservatives is no surprise, if one considers talk radio listener demographics.

CNN shares exclusivity with Fox Newss

If CNN were truly 'middle of the three and balanced, why employ a far right-wing personality?

If media employs people who align themselves with US Tea Party inciters, the network should have to answer a few questions. One such questions is, "How thoroughly do you investigate or query (continue to vet) your broadcast personalities before hire, and do you periodically revisit their affiliations after hire?"
MediaMatters recently reported on possible affiliation of an special CNN reported Dana Loesch.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO) is receiving extra security after an activist in Missouri, Scott Boston, said, "We have to kill the Claire Bear." But in defending Boston, CNN contributor Dana Loesch failed to mention that she co-founded a conservative activist group with him.

From the Post-Dispatch:At an event Thursday in Springfield, Mo., Scott Boston, a St. Louis area activist who has been involved with the Tea Party, told the crowd "we have to get Claire McCaskill out."
"We have to kill the Claire Bear ladies and gentlemen," Boston said. "She walks around like she's some sort of Rainbow Brite Care Bear or something but really she's an evil monster."
The comment was seen as ominous enough to prompt the U.S. Capitol Police to seek extra protection for the Missouri Democrat. Police in Kirkwood (Missouri), where McCaskill lives, confirm they were asked by the Capitol security agency to perform stepped up patrols around her house.
McCaskill has also had extra security tailing her at public appearances.
