Conservatives Gone Mad; Jon Stewart, Fox News and Huckabee

This is just insane!

Jon Stewart continues to close out his time on the daily show with cogent and point-on depictions and analysis of (drum roll please)..."Your GOP." The following segment is a bit long, but when delving into a major fraud like Dick Cheney, time is expendable.

http://hulu.com/w/np29

If you have just a few more minutes you might want to provide a self-injection booster (shot) of your immunization from conservative America, Fox News and the GOP.

Imagine being a regular of Fox News and finding even modicum of sanity in this 2 plus minute segment.

OK, one more peep at modern conservatism and the toil of false prophets. After this one, you will thank the heavens for your Fox News and conservative vaccination!  Mike Huckabee says, do not join the military until Obama leaves office. Intriguing.

First, there is a touch of treason in the words, but more significant consider the utter insanity of the man's words.

Would the false prophet ask our young to avoid military service until (he is hoping) a republican wins the White House and the young person becomes fodder for GOP international malfeasance.  Think of the number of conflicts to which GOP leadership would have sent troops of Us bomber plane's  How about the 5,000 US dead (and tens of thousands disabled or maimed) seeking Iraqi WMD while Dick Cheney's Halliburton reaped $39 Billion in no- bid contract revenue? How about holding-off on joining the military when the GOP has consistently and continuously voted against improving veteran benefits?   If you absorbed all of that, how about the zaniness to assume Hillary Clinton would manage her Department of Defense and her lack of interest in showing disrespect to the Islamic Faith any differently. Of course, your cognitive processes went to the next level of ridiculousness; Huckabee would deliver false sermons to people without any inkling of a GOP Victory in 2016: NPR article, here; audio segment, here.

The Daily GOP Ignominious: The Factor's O'Reilly "Obama had nothing to do with getting bin Laden!" (Media Matters UPDATE)

What you are about to see and hear is over-the-edge demagoguery with negative intent. Bill O'Reilly recently proven to be the most non-credible, embellishing and lying television personality, programs one of Fox News's most bizarre "leggy" hosts to partake in Obama bashing. The booking of Tantaros was not a surprise as the theme of the segment related to comment from of all people Dick Cheney. Tantaros surpasses all hosts on Fox with her level of zany and well concocted anti-Obama dogma.

Fox News and right wing media continues to offer a platform for the nation's most ancient of conservative dinosaurs and a chief policy framer for the Afghanistan and Iraq Wars. Dick Cheney is traipsing across conservative media like Tiny Tim "Tip Toe (ing) through the Tulips" , taking shots at President ObamaOf course, the Paleozoic Era relic is an anti-Obama "on demand performance" for Fox News entertainers and fresh "Kool-Aid" for O'Reilly viewers. As audience that is as easily entertained as hunting Ants with a peanut butter and jelly sandwich on a hot sidewalk.

The following segment was broadcast as anticipated from Fox. Bill O'Reilly and his producers inserted a "red meat" (alleged) democratic strategist who was ill prepared to respond to O'Reilly poking at Obama with no international accomplishments through two terms in office. Sadly, the alleged Democratic strategist, appeared to give-in to O'Reilly's attempt at "gotcha." Before a complete cave to the Fox News chief demagogue, the guest summonsed-up bin Laden. If O'Reilly did not anticipate the response he must have been preoccupied with deciding which international event he would insert himself before the end of the segment. Maybe, he was trying to recall if he was across the field from the bin laden Compound during the raid. He was taken aback and literally fumbled through the last seconds of the interview. O'Reilly may have actually uttered an under his breathe "whatever", after asserting Obama had nothing to do with the killing of the nation's number one enemy. After throwing-out US Intel and Navy Seals as the entities that got bin Laden, The Factor's producer quickly ended the segment.

Saved by the show producers. Even a novice Democratic strategist would surely report with facts related to the president's ultimate responsibility for the killing of bin Laden.

An image such as this was planned to the minute such that all parties gathered in the White House Situation Room.  The order for the raid came from the president with the full consultation of military officers and Intel staff in the room. Navy Seals who raided the bin Laden compound were skilled and courageous military executioners. Men who executed a mission planned by some in attendance that evening and key operatives in the field. Fox News producers ended the segment before the alleged strategist summoned-up the fact that President Obama ordered and authorized teh raid on the bin Laden compound. Within weeks of taking office in 2009, President Obama gave orders for a 90 day operational plan with timelines regarding the bin Laden elimination.

O'Reilly said, "Obama had nothing to do with it," probably sent his viewers off into the night to finish their stove-top tin ball popcorn and beer safe in their dreams and anticipation of the next night's O'Reilly Factor. Problem! You can rest assured the viewers did not end their evenings with thoughts of this:

Did he say, "Hiding in a cave?"

The problem with demagoguery? It fails to consider archival history and it is more often than not absent of fact while feeding off emotion.

....AND THE BAND PLAYS ON....

Dick Cheney Wants More Defense Spending And Less Assistance To Americans

Photo: Liz Cheney is right. The Republican Party has zero solutions to the dry serious challenges facing America and the world.

Thanks to Democratic Underground.

While speaking at a Politico “playbook lunch” Cheney along with his wife, Lynne, and daughter, Liz gave Politico reporter Mike Allen a jingoist mouthful that should have induced a major sphincter contraction across the breadth of GOP leadership.

We are well past wonderment of why media grants Dick Cheney so much air-time, press and attention. He is the embodiment of all that is wrong in our nation. And, if we have experienced a US war criminal during the nation's 400 year history, it would be Cheney (as several Bush Administration war-hawks). Yet, the revenue focus of US media facilitates wrench the last Tyrannosaurus breathe from the crumbling war monger.

Cheney's remarks and exhortation to forego programs for the needy and infrastructure programs is typically conservative, and an outright guttural thought.

Cheney with family in tow spewed pure militaristic garbage to  Mike Allen .
Cheney ripped Obama for having "dramatically reduced the military," and also called cuts at the Pentagon "outrageous.
He also made a call for the next president to rebuild the military.
“Turn around the whole trend with the United State military,” Cheney said. “That ought to be our top priority for spending. Not food stamps, not highways, or anything else. Your number one responsibility as president is to support and defend the Constitution of the United States. He’s the commander-in-chief and he’s absolutely devastating the United States military today.”

More Defense spending linked here.

Barack Obama is a constitutional scholar. His knowledge of the US Constitution and its crafters undoubtedly far exceed the single militaristic focus and conservative paradigm of Dick Cheney.

As you can imagine, Cheney's dogma and rhetoric chase me off to "Chart Land." First, know the Heritage Foundation has a plethora of chart and graphs as an archive from which conservatives can feed their paranoia. Herewith are a couple of examples of such.

In December 2012 The Daily Signal agonized over the imminent Federal Budget "Sequester." You will notice Heritage didn't bother to label Bush defense spending.

How about these Heritage charts with a slam against so-called "entitlement spending."

Defense's Share of Federal Spending and Economy has been Declining
The substantial decline in the defense share of the budget largely reflects the dramatic growth of entitlement spending. Entitlements now account for around 65 percent of all federal spending and a record 18 percent of GDP.[11] The three largest entitlements—Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid—eclipsed defense spending in 1976 and have been growing ever since. If future taxes are held at the historical average, these three entitlements will consume all tax revenues by 2052, leaving no money for the government’s primary constitutional obligation: providing for the common defense.[12]
Entitlement Spending is Encroaching on the Defense Budget
A Heritage "Mother of Defense Spending Chart" with a focus on Obama defense cuts.

US Defense Budget History

Yes, defense spending is decreasing since World War II. The salient point is how much defense spending is necessary to ensure total destruction of an adversary or group of adversaries. Another consideration, is US defense spending inclusive of adequate INTEL expenditures to conduct cyber warfare and enact counter measures against.

While Russia is according to Jane's is increasing its defense/military spending, Americans should come to accept Russia is not a globe superpower. It is a regional power and stands a far second from China.  All said, the following sets of graphics illustrate to the absolute fallacy of the Tyrannosaurs Cheney's rhetoric and the mind-bending and fear filled quest by Heritage to disparage the Obama Administration.

The International Business Times February 2014
2013 Defense Budgets, Top 20
As you can see from the chart below, the U.S. continues to be in the lead, by far, on defense spending. It spent 2.7 times more than China and Russia combined and it spent nearly 11 percent more than the 17 other countries combined.
U.S. Defense Spending compared to rest of world

In January of this tear, Nelsnewday published a piece with contrasting comparison of US defense spending and spending on budgets that provide assistance to less fortunate Americans.

We offer an excerpt from the piece for comparative perspective on US defense spending as a portion of international budgets.  Forty-eight of the world's military spending!
The military gets more than half of the budget–$573 billion for defense spending and $525 billion for non-defense discretionary spending. At 48 percent of the world’s military spending, the U.S. military budget is equal to the next ten countriesmilitary budgets combined.
military_by_country_spending-by-country
Now for a quick look at US Federal spending, via National Priorities.

Mandatory spending is largely made up of earned-benefit or entitlement programs, and the spending for those programs is determined by eligibility rules rather than the appropriations process. For example, Congress decides to create a program like the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), also known as food stamps. It then sets criteria for determining who is eligible to receive benefits from the program. The amount of money spent on SNAP each year is then determined by how many people are eligible and apply for benefits.

Discretionary spending refers to the portion of the budget that goes through the annual appropriations process each year. In other words, Congress directly sets the level of spending on discretionary programs. Congress can choose to increase or decrease spending on any of those programs in a given year.
This chart shows where the projected $2.56 trillion in mandatory spending will go in fiscal year 2015.
President's Proposed Mandatory Spending

Dick Cheney shows why the Bush Administration was the most jingoist administration in modern US History. We expect no less for Heritage. As the nascent quip goes, if Obama came out in favor of the necessity of unobstructed human breathing and airways, Heritage would posit for mass self strangulation.

The more relevant question is why does media continue to give airtime to a former vice president who left office with approval ratings in the guttier and who literally hid from the public for many years. If Cheney was such a credible vice president, why the need to hide from the public? Moreover, what has changed relative to Cheney that entices media interviews, joking (quick response questions) and images of his twisted oral cavity?

Seven Key Republicans Do Not Find Value In Palin's Fox News Impeachment Talk

As I think of the latest Sarah Palin traipse around the airways (with first appearance on Fox New's Hannity show), my mind fixates on the GOP/RNC decision to attach Palin to the flawed 2008 GOP ticket.

The Grand Ol Party literally created a monster (in more ways than one). The monster trod across the land reaping havoc and horror as the days passed and until roving bands of voters, citizens brought the horror to an end.

The imagery is stark and the visual entertain even today.

Its Alive

Frankenstein movie windmill burns down (The Monster "turned on its Creator)

There is little entertainment in Fox New's reviving the monster. Alas, Fox News is not about news it is about entertainment for a very specific audience. An audience that is not comprised of some members of Congress.

ABC News reports on seven key Republicans who do not agree with Palin's insanity. while I hold nothing he has to say in any level of credible, Dick Cheney told Jake Tapper, CNN, he believes Palin's comments are counter productive.

Sarah Palin penned an op-ed last week calling for the impeachment of President Obama. OnBeribart.com, the former Republican vice presidential candidate said, “Enough is enough of the years of abuse from this president. His unsecured border crisis is the last straw that makes the battered wife say, ‘no mas.’”
Her comments have drawn criticism from Republicans and Democrats alike.
“She wasn’t a particularly good vice presidential candidate,” Attorney General Eric Holder told ABC News’ Pierre Thomas on “This Week.” “She’s an even worse judge of who ought to be impeached and why,” he added.
And it’s not just Obama loyalists who disagree with Palin. ABC News rounded up a list of prominent Republicans who say the president should not be impeached.
1. Rep. Bob Goodlatte, R-Virginia, House Judiciary Committee Chair“We are not working on or drawing up articles of impeachment,” Goodlatte told ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos on Sunday on “This Week.” “The Constitution is very clear as to what constitutes grounds for impeachment of the President of the United States. He has not committed the kind of criminal acts that call for that.”
2. Speaker of the House John Boehner, R-OhioSarah Palin called Speaker Boehner’s efforts to sue the president “bringing a lawsuit to a gunfight.” In response to a reporter’s question regarding Palin’s remarks, Boehner simply reiterated, “I disagree.”
When a reporter asked Boehner’s if a lawsuit implied an impeachable offense, the Speaker of the House replied, “I think this is a battle between the two branches of government. Others can make a determination about whether it’s impeachable or not. I believe that the path that we’re going is the right one to defend our institution against the encroachment from the executive branch and to preserve the Constitution of our country as it was written and as it was intended.”
“I believe that the path we’re going down is the correct one,” Boehner added.

It is really sad the GOP cannot shut its Monster!

Dick Cheney Via The WSJ And Hawking For Daughter Continues To Embarrass The GOP

Cheney? Dick Cheney? As Assessor Of A US President?

A comment from POTUS that has to make US conservative war-hawks sick to their jingoist stomachs.

"Just because we have the best hammer does not mean that every problem is a nail." — President Obama on U.S. leadership in the world

I am certain the comment and subsequent Tweet has John McCain salivating in rage, Lindsey Graham holding McCain hand in sympathetic solace and Kelly Ayotte enacting a "what do I do next?" followers posture.

Presidents Obama's announcement of the US draw-down of US troops in Afghanistan is the natural next stage of removal of the 'Hammer when there is no nail worthy of continued driving forces.' The draw-down is also the anticipation and expected continuum of the graphic just above.

Reuters November 2013 captured the Obama Afghanistan "surge" and associated coalition deaths....(added text and identifiers via The Pardu.)

President Obama enacts Executive Branch leadership by reducing US troop strength and presence in Afghanistan. Of course, the chorus from the Right is: "....weak, failure, sending messages to the Taliban, sending message across the globe." The very loudest and most detestable of whiners is of all people Dick Cheney.

Cheney is the least credible person to comment about US incursion into foreign nations. Since, we know his history, his dark side and his ineptitude, we will not dwell on an old man who should simply pass away in time much like his former WMD conspirator: George W. Bush.

Let's instead take a look at how polled Americans view military involvement in Afghanistan. In 2013, ABC News published a George W. Bush survey that reflects other sourced information available to President Obama.

ABC News Poll (Langer Research) December 2013
"Most Want Some Troops In Afghanistan Despite Strong Criticism of The War"

If polled Americans have much less interest in continuing Afghan "nation protecting and nation building," what would be the logic of following GOP war hawks who are so obviously wanton of war?

Only news show hosts on MSNBC can effectively analyze the rambling blabber of Dick Cheney and Fox News facilitating propagandist: Sean Hannity. We will start with brief Politics Nation, Al Sharpton comments following Cheney's Hannity appearance.

Late yesterday morning, Huffington Post published a piece with comment from Richard Clark, former counter-terrorism official in the Clinton and Bush Administrations. Clark's comment when coupled with comment from former Colin Powell aid Lt. Colonel Lawrence Wilkerson cast a real shadow on Cheney's inane ramblings about appearing "weak."

Former Counterterrorism Czar Richard Clarke: Bush, Cheney Committed War Crimes

 Posted:

Excerpt
"I think things that they authorized probably fall within the area of war crimes. Whether that would be productive or not, I think, is a discussion we could all have,” said Clarke, who resigned in 2003 after the Bush administration's decision to invade Iraq. “But we have established procedures now with the International Criminal Court in The Hague, where people who take actions as serving presidents or prime ministers of countries have been indicted and have been tried.”
In the first-ever judgment of its kind, Bush and seven other top members of his administration were convicted in absentia of war crimes in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2012 for the unlawful invasion of Iraq.
“So the precedent is there to do that sort of thing. And I think we need to ask ourselves whether or not it would be useful to do that in the case of members of the Bush administration,” Clarke continued. “It’s clear that things that the Bush administration did -- in my mind, at least, it’s clear that some of the things they did were war crimes."
Col. Lawrence Wilkerson, former Secretary of State Colin Powell's chief of staff, also accused Cheney of war crimes in 2011, citing the former vice president's affinity for enhanced interrogation techniques.

"Waterboarding is a war crime, unwarranted surveillance ... all of which are crimes," Wilkerson said in 2011. "I don't care whether the president authorized him to do it or not, they are crimes."

As Alex Wagner stated in the video clips above, Cheney seems to have deep rooted inertia for legacy remedy and character props. Of late, the former vice president  appears before cameras with any mention of Iraq or Afghanistan and his appearances seem to have devolved to mere Obama character assassination. Fox News provides an open platform for the old predator as the network (regardless of recent ratings) fulfills its role as a devotee to delivery of Right-wing dogma.

On May 19th, we published a piece about Cheney, his book-hawking wife, and Chris Wallace in discussion of President Obama.

Question. Is it possible Fox News actually feels it is providing new worthy broadcast segments of Dick Cheney?

David Edwards, The Raw Story Captures Sunday Morning Blues Via The GOP And Nationanl Networks

Dick who? Booking the likes of Dick Cheney on televisions shows to speak about international conflict and decisions with war as a side-bar is as ridiculous as asking Dracula about the cleanliness off biting his victims neck. Seriously, Sunday morning news shows?
