Ryan Votes for the Veterans? Read and Take Heed!

Veterans and active military, "Take Heed" They men are dangerous!

I am personally excited with the following screed from the www.thepragmaticprogressive.blogspot.com webpage.  Linked

As a US veteran, a couple of things come to mind when I read the following.  First, the stark reality of just how the GOP  willingly and anxiously sends young men and women off to war, while working against their greater good post-war.  They send these young Americans off in some cases ill-prepared and ill-equipped, while saving funds via veterans related budgets.  I posit, major cuts in veterans benefit were enacted during the early years of the Bush Administration to support Bush's charge  into Iraq.

If you followed the manipulations a maneuvers of the Bush White House, you know that the Iraq War was fabricated. If you followed the Afghan and Iraq Wars from day one, you know the ever-present and frowning face Donald Rumsfeld denying proper body armor, denying additional troops once committed, and frowning like a overheated vulture when generals asked for more (equipment and troops).   War cost!

Once,  a nation commits to war the nation has to commit fully: cost, troops, and support back home.  Bush and his team were so busy fulfilling Bush's jingoism and some insane doctrine about democracy in the Middle East, the cost for his war feel to other budgets.  We must not forget  Saddam was a bad guy, after all he tried  to kill me Dad!". Bush W.

Did veterans really have to me part of the scrounging around for 'war money'?  Of course, cutting taxes while waging two wars was typical republican and chronically callous.

Let's look at the new GOP "wonderboy". Let's look closely at his commitment to veterans.

Paul Ryan's Shameful Record on Veterans' Affairs

Ryan Opposed Veterans Health Care Funds.

In 2007, Ryan voted against legislation that provided critical funding for veterans health care, including funds to enhance medical services for active duty forces, mobilized personnel and their family members and $1.7 billion for veterans’ health care priorities including maintenance at VA health care facilities like Walter Reed.

The measure included: $550 million to address the maintenance backlog at VA health care facilities to prevent situations similar to those at Walter Reed;

$250 million for medical administration to ensure sufficient personnel to address the rising number of veterans and to maintain a high level of service;

$229 million for treating the growing number of veterans;

$100 million to allow the VA to contract with private mental healthcare providers to offer veterans, including Guard and reserve members, quality and timely care; and,

$62 million to speed claims processing for returning veterans.

The measure passed 218-212 [ Roll Call 186, H 1591, 03/23/2007;CQ House Action Reports, No. 110-3]

When One Hides, People Seek More From Them

This is what happens when a candidate, shuts down the media and squirrels away form the press.
If you had a glaringly obvious personal weakness and was forced to spend more time in the public eye than was comfortable for you, how would you handle the scrutiny. Most people would find the scrutiny very uncomfortable and take measures to reduce the scrutiny. So far, all is natural.
As forewarned by his GOP opponents for the GOP nomination, Mitt Romney has a few character flaws that are undeniable.  He also constantly reminds of the flaws via the basic requirement for visibility while running for public office.  As a candidate for president he can hide, but he cannot escape. Romney is finding it harder and harder to avoid the prying questions of the media. He has a team of advisers and spokespeople who are doing him much more harm than good, and when he does avail himself to interviews he appears inordinately uncomfortable. Could it be he is masking his innate tendencies to 'lie'?

Media Matters: Fox's Doocy Falsely Claims Health Care Ruling Creates A Tax That's "Going To Hit Everybody"

Pants on Fire

The following should not surprise readers of The Progressive Influence.  The Fox & Friends morning brain trust, followed its producers directions; use the Courts ruling of the constitutionality of tax consequences for refusal to secure health coverage.

If you can take the inane drivel, watch Doocy, Carlson and Kimeade do what they do best: give television news shows a bad name.  Two points..... I stretch my imagination to refer to the show as news show. Second,  I could only watch for a brief momnet or two. You might pay focused attention to the 'very cognitive' Doocy as he sets-up the "Medicare Killer' Paul Ryan, with, ".......it is going to hit everybody isn't it".

June 29, 2012 11:05 am ET
From the June 29 edition of Fox News' Fox & Friends:

Regardless of Ryan's answer, which I frankly did not watch, it is impossible for the ACA to result in taxes on "Everybody".

The strategy from the Right was clear within hours of the historic SCOTUS Decision. The Court ruled the commerce clause in relation to the ACA's mandate was unconstitutional, but the right to place the penalty for refusal to secure health coverage in the realm of the IRS as a tax was constitutional.    Ah and Alas the Right grab its time proven 'false mantra' of not raising taxes, revive the presidents comments about not increasing taxes on the american [people, and developed their strategy going into the fall elections.

Romney the Great Offshorer of US Jobs

Mitt Romney has been called a vulture capitalist by New Gingrich and Rick Perry. The charges continue even after all GOP hopefuls are now supporting the vulture capitalist for President of the United States.

How about a little packaging of the corporate raiders.

(Highlight text added for emphasis)

WIKI ...Venture capitalists

A venture capitalist is a person or investment firm that makes venture investments, and these venture capitalists are expected to bring managerial and technical expertise as well as capital to their investments. A venture capital fund refers to a pooled investment vehicle (often an LP or LLC) that primarily invests the financial capital of third-party investors in enterprises that are too risky for the standard capital markets or bank loans. Venture capital firms typically comprise small teams with technology backgrounds (scientists, researchers) or those with business training or deep industry experience.

A core skill within VC is the ability to identify novel technologies that have the potential to generate high commercial returns at an early stage. By definition, VCs also take a role in managing entrepreneurial companies at an early stage, thus adding skills as well as capital, thereby differentiating VC from buy-out private equity, which typically invest in companies with proven revenue, and thereby potentially realizing much higher rates of returns. Inherent in realizing abnormally high rates of returns is the risk of losing all of one's investment in a given startup company. As a consequence, most venture capital investments are done in a pool format, where several investors combine their investments into one large fund that invests in many different startup companies. By investing in the pool format, the investors are spreading out their risk to many different investments versus taking the chance of putting all of their money in one start up firm.

Thus opportunist financial elitist provides imagery of a flock of circling vultures, seeking companies from Venture investment, and in many cases [especially with Romney's groups] ravaged the companies to the bones.  They then fly off fully capital sustained like a satiated vulture.

The following is an Obama Campaign Team depiction of Romney's history of off-shoring jobs.  As I review the graphic, I cannot force  The Daily Callers Munro out of my mind as he stood in the White House Rose Garden disrespecting our president via yelling about possible immigrants taking US jobs. Tucker Carlson's Caller has never delved into Romney's empirical record of off-shoring US jobs.

First a peep at a WIKI diagram of Vulture Capitalist

WIKI Linked Venture Capital (Diagram of the structure of a generic venture capital fund)

If you are one who finds Romney's jobs history admirable, you really should question your compassion for both US citizens and the US economy.  Vulture capitalist are about nothing more than personal GREED. When Romney says he likes to "fire people that provide services to him," his work with Bain Capital must have given him virtual orgasmic satisfaction.

Wisconsin Governor Recall Vote nears; GOP dirty tricks step-up

NOTE: The following was received today via email.  It is such a critical message, I have to post it here. I have deleted  campaign donation solicitations requests that were embedded in the email text. I have personally contributed to the effort to offset millions from the Right for walker campaign advertisements. While those donations were my choice, I will not paste same solicitation on the web page.

Some of us remember the days of Richard Nixon and his C.R.E.E.P. political campaign dirty tricks squad.  A few of the squad's paid contractors were caught pilfer-aging through the office of Daniel Elsberg the Watergate Office Bldg. by an hourly paid security guard.  That one detailed and focused security guard may very well have saved the nation from sure "I will be King-ism" from Richard Nixon.
In case you live in a closet without benefit of any new channels on your television set, or you live in a foreign land and love to follow US politics, you may not know the following names.

Tom Barret, Democratic candidate running against the GOP Governor.

Scott Walker, Republican candidate, campaign via a recall special election vote.

Tax Haven Romney

Job Creator in the Cayman Islands!

Cayman Island National Emblem

Where is your shirt, Mitt?

How many Americans do you think you know who might possible have a Cayman Island bank account (or investment shed)?  If you answered the question in the affirmative, you might possibly know such a person, the next questions is, do you have such an account? If you have such an account, why is the account in the Cayman Islands?  Do you care that such "commerce" provides  jobs for the tiny island where companies lease offices and declare the office a headquarters for an operating unit, then, sparely furnish the room?
