CNN's Cuomo Invites Kellyanne Conway To A Gish Gallop Debacle

 Gish Gallop
... is a technique, named after the creationist Duane Gish who employed it, whereby someone argues a cause by hurling as many different half-truths and no-truths into a very short space of time so that their opponent cannot hope to combat each point in real time.
________

Kellyanne Conway Gish Gallops Chris Cuomo
Last night CNN's Chris Cuomo solidified my belief many TV news production teams and on-air hosts are about ratings and little more. Cuomo has a tendency to seek and book conservative talking heads on his Prime Time show for his version of the CNN on-air guest combat model. The model has grown tiring and trite. Viewers know that the liberal guest will go Left; they also know the conservative guest will go Right. While biased I must state the conservative guest are more often than not GOP operatives who serve their wallets via lucrative CNN paychecks as well as Trump talking heads who serve their leader via spewing garbage.

What follows is a serious of video to make a case, Cuomo should avoid offering platforms for highly paid liars. That mission is well served by Fox News and Sinclair broadcasting along with many right-wing radio hosts.

First a piece of Cuomo with Conway. The interview ran for 39 minutes and at times was outright excruciating in its silliness. There were moments when the host succumbs to Conway's slick offensive assertions he actually defended himself as if trying to wave of the wind from his face while standing in a Cat 5 hurricane.
Huffington Post published a piece earlier today with Conway's husband, longtime Trump critic, seems to do what Cuomo should have done early in his 39-minute debacle.

And, Cuomo continued with the ridiculous.
After Cuomo allowed 39 minutes of a professional Gish Gallop employed by a person who lies form the moment he awakens until he lays down his iPhone in the wee hours, Don Lemon follow Cuomo's Prime Time with the most apropos question of 2018.  "Why?"

What follows is a prime example of TV journalism as it polices itself with necessary questioning of what might be a cheap ratings trick via Cuomo.  He obviously wants to have more conservative viewers during his time slot. But at what cost? Why offer a platform to a documented liar who works for a pathological liar whose shared mission is to pull the wool over the minds of certain segments of the population.

Watch as Lemon's disbelieving nonverbals regarding Cuomo's comments. The Prime Time host's remarks about playing the victim to show core values of Trumpism is pure malarkey. "......they attack me!" They attack everyone other than Trumps family and Cuomo offering himself up on a metaphoric guillotine is pure bunk and not healthyTV news.

Yes, Conway performed well for Trump while Cuomo ...well...

US Regressivism And No Leadership From The Top

Drake UniversityAs we watch the US growing acceptance of overt racism and Anti-Semitism, we will do our part in publicizing that which warrants special reporting. That said, we note the many cases of reported abuse base din race, culture and religion are not reported on The Progressive Influence.

The image to the right-hand above is yet another example of young racist making life uncomfortable for a fellow black student at Drake University in Iowa. The details are embedded below.

Iowa Students Fearful After Racist Note Left Under Dorm Room Door: ‘Porch Monkey…Leave or Else’

And then there is this. Les leave Iowa and travel to Mississippi.

As we move away from the midterm election and various state elections. take look at two candidates for office in Mississippi. It is important to note Mississippi has its election on November 27th.

Cindy Hyde-Smith, a white Republican VS African-American candidate and former federal official, Mike Espy, Democrat. One of the two candidates recently publicly joked about being on the front row of a public lynching. Would you care to guess which candidate went there?

Look close before you make pr pick.  OK, if you picked Epsy as the joking candidate, you should avoid appearing on a TV game show which includes picking: door number two, or dooooooooor number three.

Actually, we seriously hope the door game wasn't a challenge.  Of course, the GOP state senator went there. She joined a Mississippi state cattle rancher she ha only met that day.

Huffington Post
Mississippi Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith, a white Republican, joked about going to a “public hanging” during a campaign event this weekend, a comment her Democratic challenger, who is black, called “reprehensible” and divisive ahead of a runoff election later this month.
“If he invited me to a public hanging, I’d be on the front row,” Hyde-Smith said on Sunday morning in Tupelo, Miss. during an event with a cattle rancher. It’s unclear what context the comments were made under, although she appeared to be praising the rancher, Colin Hutchinson.
From Mississippi to the Great State of Wisconsin.

Wisconsin High School Students prom photo was taken in early 2018.

It seems one didn't join the Nazi Salute.

Alas, history has repeated itself yet again.  August Landmeseer in Nazi Germany also stood outside of the herd.

Where does it all lead? Where does it lead when national leaders not only refuse to speak out against such acts, it ends at a bad pace when leadership seems to embrace growing US racism.

America! We Have A GOP Problem

Image result for confederate flagsWe don't believe the majority of the GOP is racist. Yet, we know US racist do not flock to the Democrat Party for political and social affiliation. The GOP has a core of racial bias and racism against people of color and a far more pervasive filed of acceptance of all things GOP among its denizens And that means no backlash from the parties leaders nor its core constituents and supporters.

Each week we receive reminders of the extent to which your Trump supporting neighbors and family members are part of the nation's growing cadre of white nationals (a nice moniker for white supremacist).

On election day, a conscientious citizen took a photo of this racist in the state of Mississippi.

Image result for racist mississippi voter

Image result for racist mississippi voter Notice the Confederate flag. Notice the Noose. And Notice the connection to a state in which the most lynching of black people occurred during the many years of US Jim Crow.

The exhibitionist racist lost his job at a local hospital once his brazen white supremacy was posted to social media. Imagine being an African-American or Latino (and probably also Asian) with the voter on staff with a primary job function of close contact with people seeking medical care.  Ugly, eh?

Before you simply dismiss the candidates choice of language as a joke, understand for millions in American the joke may have reached back into the lives and history of African-Americans who lost loved ones and family to racist lynchings.

And then there is this from the State of Flordia. De Santis (Trump stooge candidate for Governor) and the Mayor of the State's capital Gillum.

DeSantis openly courts and courted support from Trump. Trump has proven he is inclined to US nationalism (hint). Why wouldn't DeSantis's "monkey: comment appear as something of a Freudian slip at its lowest denominator? On a broader scale, DeSantis appealed to his supporters and potential voters with a clear dog whistle.

White supremacists support and embedded in the GOP is no surprise as the part has courted and nourished white bias since the days of the now famous "Southern Strategy".  What is a bit of a surprise is not one member of the GOP has come out and openly spoke against clear claiming the GOP by people such as David Duke, former KKK Leader.

The Chicago Tribune and other press/media have written extensively about David Duke and his public affinity for Donald Trump and Trump's GOP.

David Duke praises Trump for tweet about 'large scale killing' of white ...

(There is no large-scale killing of white farmers in South Africa)

America, we have a political party problem and it may manifest in your neighborhood, your family and probably has infested your friends. If you have read through and viewed this piece with no appreciation for a political party gone repressively rogue, you are also infected.

YOUR GOP: Steve King of Iowa

Image result for steve king "Still Racist"  Forever racist.

If you are a follower of current events, a person suspicious of growing racism from the Right, and if you are an American who finds growing racism unacceptable, you will recall this MSNBC News clip from 2016. Iowa Representative Steve King went full racist on national television. His remarks so startled the MSNBC host, Chris Hayes, he shut down any opportunity for a non-white member of his panel to respond to King. Hayes later expressed remorse for the shutdown. His initial reaction to King was both telling and tragic. King was allowed to spew pure racism on a progressive-leaning network and his actions went unchecked. King's racism linked here.

While we saw the latest example of conservative America's acceptance white supremacy via last night's Primary win for Corey Stewart, we received a solid dose of GOP racism this morning for none other than the party's the proudest racist, King.

All cable media except Fox News are reporting on the latest racist escapade of Iowa's Steve King.  Huffington Post published a piece about the racist King's recent retweet.

As of yesterday, King says he didn't know he was retweeting a white supremacist.  Yes, of course......  The New GOP.

Trumpism Gazette: Grows and Spreads (It will Eventually Touch You)

We use the phrase "rational Americans" in any of our posts. Realize we do so with absolute certainty the nation is suffering from chronic insanity on the political and social Right.

Take a look and listen to the perfect examples of why we separate Right and Left for purpose of prose. When the political advertisement has core props of numerous firearms and with consideration of the overwhelming number of firearm deaths across the nation, our contempt for all things Right is reinforced.

A candidate for the Governorship of Georgia

Now we speak of the hurt from Trumps ObamaCare cuts?

The good doctor and that letter we all knew he did not write. Talking Points Memo and John Marshall.

Trump as Nobel Peace Prize Recipient?

Are you up to speed on the current move to secure a Nobel Peace Prize for Trump?  Of course, the President of South Korea is speaking openly about the matter as he, as a middle of the road peacemaker, has sought peace with Kim Jong Un since he took office a year ago. If you are not aware of other efforts don't feel put off. Most TV media isn't covering Trump's wish for the Prize; social media, on the other hand, is rife with reports of subterfuge via stolen identities to nominating Trump.

National print media have published a few accounts of the fake letters  We feel the Washington Post piece is a detailed accounting of what is known to date (linked here).

Let's think for a minute. We have a doctor admitting he didn't write letters widely published in 2016 as a testimony of Trump's great health.  If you recall the former White House Physician to the President also read a letter of praise for Trump's health which included an advertisement for Trump DNA. Funny and strange things are occurring with letters during the era of Trump.

Now for a quick run through what seems daily reports regarding a nation which is regressing regard race. Regressing to a time when nonwhites were rarely mentioned in the press, the media and seemed to live as what I (disparagingly) call The Invisible Negro.

I will wager not one of his police calling neighbors voted with a Left lean.

Also something remarkably conservative about this sheriff.

Wonder if Trump finds these people as "fine people on both sides?" Better yet, how about that death penalty he espouses.

Speaking of conservatives embracing racism. How about a bit of Pence and his snuggle with Arpaio? "

 “America’s toughest sheriff”

Since 2015 Trump has been very open and preachy about our need to seek the death penalty against "drug dealers". While I have little to no sympathy for anyone who sells drugs, it should be noted Trump hasn't commented in any form regarding the 47 white supremacists recently arrested in Texas for the manufacturer and selling all sorts of harmful street drugs.

Follow the story via the Huffington Post.

Do you think Trump would recommend the death penalty for those arrested if they are found guilty?

Do you recall this from July 2015

How about we end with a peep at the real impact of Trump/Ryan's tax cuts (which Ryan loves to call "tax reform")?

More Sleaziness From The Administration

“Democrats who stand in our way will be complicit in every murder committed by illegal immigrants.”

Trump Immigration ad.  Seriously?

Yes, the ad reminds of what Republicans do with total disregard for decency and politics without racism. Watch and listen to a Karl Rove/Roger Ailes and Bush I ad with clear racial imagery.

As pf this morning it seems some White House officials are working to distance the White House from the ad. Huffington Post is reporting on the White House’s legislative affairs director, Marc Short's, visit with Meet The Press and Chuck Todd. HuffPo  linked.

Todd didn't exactly allow Short to pull a "trump."

It is as clear as the morning dew, Trump is rotten with racism and apparently has a tight group of White House (social) facilitators. Short may work the networks to call off the dogs on Trump's assertion of national murder perpetrated by Democrats, but it seems someone in the White House has the wherewithal to at any time affect overt slander with a slant towards racism.

Despite our political correct tendencies to avoid comparing Trump to past dictators and nation-killing leaders, we cannot avoid thinking about a paragraph in an article from My Jewish Learning dot com:
Once in power, Hitler moved quickly to end German democracy. He convinced his cabinet to invoke emergency clauses of the constitution that permitted the suspension of individual freedoms of press, speech, and assembly. Special security forces — the Gestapo, the Storm Troopers (SA), and the SS — murdered or arrested leaders of opposition political parties (Communists, socialists, and liberals). The Enabling Act of March 23, 1933 — forced through the Reichstag already purged of many political opponents –gave dictatorial powers to Hitler.
The United States cannot survive years of Trump and his swamp in an around Washington DC.

Trump's Swamp Continues To Dissipate

We often hear the words: "The Swamp."

If you are one who fell for Trump's campaign rhetoric shrouded around the mantra " he Swamp" and actually voted for Trump, you might be one who would purchase sand while standing in the Sahara Desert.

Read the following and consider clinking the Huffington Post link which follows. The 38 second Anderson Cooper Video is a must view.

"I'm sorry. I'm not sorry that my words were published, I am sorry that I said them in 2013," he wrote. "Those words do not reflect who I am or what I stand for, I regret saying them. Last night I informed the WH that I was resigning so as not to distract from POTUS' many success. #noexcuses"

The words of a Trump appointee:  Carl Higbie, the chief of external affairs for the Corporation for National and Community Service. The racist and homophobic appointee resigned from the Trump Swamp on Thursday.

Apparently, CNN uncovered a series of radio appearances in which the Trump appointee was unabashed in his racism, bigotry, and homophobia.

It is unfortunate, despite my liberalism, I do not relish what I am about to add to this piece.

Trump's Swamp, among others things, is a cesspool swamp of racism and bigotry.
