Kochs: "Plutocrat" (And they will come for you...)

The ultimate plutocrats
Please watch the video below and share this and other related articles on social media forums so that we can expose the Koch Brothers and their sinister purchasing of our economic discourse.

While this video is widely circulated and has been viewed by millions, there can never be enough exposure of these people. Born into wealth via a father who had co-founding roots in the John Birch Society, their efforts to ascend to non-elected leadership the US government is as dangerous as any external threat to our nation.

Robert Greenwald's "Koch Brothers Exposed" (Full)

Published on Aug 23, 2012
Koch Brothers Exposed is a hard-hitting investigation of the 1% at its very worst. This full-length documentary film on Charles and David Koch—two of the world's richest and most powerful men—is the latest from acclaimed director Robert Greenwald (Wal-Mart: the High Cost of Low Price, Outfoxed, Rethink Afghanistan). The billionaire brothers bankroll a vast network of organizations that work to undermine the interests of the 99% on issues ranging from Social Security to the environment to civil rights. This film uncovers the Kochs' corruption—and points the way to how Americans can reclaim their democracy.

What can you do to fight back? Get the film. Host a screening. Tell your friends. Get the Koch brothers out of the shadows and into the spotlight.

10 Shocking Facts on the Kochs

1. Koch Industries, which the brothers own, is one of the top ten polluters in the United States -- which perhaps explains why the Kochs have given $60 million to climate denial groups between 1997 and 2010.
2. The Kochs are the oil and gas industry's biggest donors to the congressional committee with oversight of the hazardous Keystone XL oil pipeline. They and their employees gave more than $300,000 to members of the House Energy and Commerce Committee in 2010 alone.
3. From 1998-2008, Koch-controlled foundations gave more than $196 million to organizations that favor polices that would financially enrich the two brothers. In addition, Koch Industries spent $50 million on lobbying and some $8 million in PAC contributions.
4. The Koch fortune has its origins in engineering contracts with Joseph Stalin's Soviet Union.
5. The Kochs are suing to take over the Cato Institute, which has accused the Kochs of attempting to destroy the group's identity as an independent, libertarian think and align it more closely with a partisan agenda.
6. A Huffington Post source who was at a three-day retreat of conservative billionaires said the Koch brothers pledged to donate $60 million to defeat President Obama in 2012 and produce pledges of $40 million more from others at the retreat.
7. Since 2000, the Kochs have collected almost $100 million in government contracts, mostly from the Department of Defense.
8. Koch Industries has an annual production capacity of 2.2 billion pounds of the carcinogen formaldehyde. The company has worked to keep it from being classified as a carcinogen even though David Koch is a prostate cancer survivor.
9. The Koch brothers' combined fortune of roughly $50 billion is exceeded only by that of Bill Gates in the United States.
10. The Senate Select Committee on Indian Affairs accused Koch Oil of scheming to steal $31 million of crude oil from Native Americans. Although the company claimed it was accidental, a former executive in this operation said Charles Koch had known about it and had responded to the overages by saying, "I want my fair share, and that's all of it."

The Dangers of Having A Koch!

Ed Meese
On January 20th, 2009, Barack Obama shortly after inaugurated 44th President of the United States of America, a group of right-wing politicians and GOP party operatives meet secretly plotted GOP obstruction against the nation. The obstruction literally commenced on January 21st, 2009 and has run as consistently and reliably as the rising and setting sun

While all MSNBC hosts have performed admirably in covering the "Great Obstruction Meeting," We think Al Sharpton has devoted more research and air-time to early obstruction we "off-the-cuff" refer to as the beginning of GOP sedition.

April 2012 Gingrich admits Inauguration day meeting.

Where were these plutocrats during the eight horrible years of Bush/Cheney?  While we would like to think the obstructionist have issues with our president based on his party affiliation and his opposite economic policy, we are reticent to go there. Obama policies economically and as Commander-in-Chief have so outpaced Bush it is actually embarrassing. Now, what other factors could lead to so much effort money-contributed, money-spent and outright obstruction that is detrimental to is all? The question is rhetorical.

Let's follow a few major news sources from the 2009 obstruction planning session through the Ed Messe, Koch meeting of a week ago.

Robert Draper Book: GOP's Anti-Obama Campaign Started Night Of Inauguration

WASHINGTON -- As President Barack Obama was celebrating his inauguration at various balls, top Republican lawmakers and strategists were conjuring up ways to submarine his presidency at a private dinner in Washington.
The event -- which provides a telling revelation for how quickly the post-election climate soured -- serves as the prologue of Robert Draper's much-discussed and heavily-reported new book, "Do Not Ask What Good We Do: Inside the U.S. House of Representatives."
According to Draper, the guest list that night (which was just over 15 people in total) included Republican Reps. Eric Cantor (Va.), Kevin McCarthy (Calif.), Paul Ryan (Wis.), Pete Sessions (Texas), Jeb Hensarling (Texas), Pete Hoekstra (Mich.) and Dan Lungren (Calif.), along with Republican Sens. Jim DeMint (S.C.), Jon Kyl (Ariz.), Tom Coburn (Okla.), John Ensign (Nev.) and Bob Corker (Tenn.). The non-lawmakers present included Newt Gingrich, several years removed from his presidential campaign, and Frank Luntz, the long-time Republican wordsmith. Notably absent were Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) -- who, Draper writes, had an acrimonious relationship with Luntz.
For several hours in the Caucus Room (a high-end D.C. establishment), the book says they plotted out ways to not just win back political power, but to also put the brakes on Obama's legislative platform.

The Conspiracy to Commit Legislative Constipation

In a scene reminiscent of the summit meeting of mob bosses in The Godfather, Republican House leaders were summoned by evil marshmallow and message-crafter Frank Luntz to hash out a strategy to cope with the defeat of their party in 2008 and the election of the newly inaugurated President Obama, according to Robert Draper's just published book Do Not Ask What Good We Do: Inside the U.S. House of Representatives.
During a lengthy discussion, the senior GOP members worked out a plan to repeatedly block Obama over the coming four years to try to ensure he would not be re-elected.
In his book, Draper opens with the heady atmosphere in Washington on the days running up to the inauguration and the day itself, which attracted 1.8 million to the mall to witness Obama being sworn in as America's first black president.
Obstruction has worked well for the GOP in many arenas. While obstruction has not undermined a dynamic president with the right agenda, it has slowed economic improvement and has factually contributed to divisiveness never before seen in the nation.

The perfect example of obstruction is the continuing battles from the Right against President Obama's signature health care reform legislation. Obstruction funded and fueled by under wealthy plutocrats like David and Charles Koch.  Since we have written extensively about the Kochs (search Koch brothers this site) we will defer extensive comment about their DNA that reaches back to the founding of the John Birch Society. We will not delve deeper into their major backing of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC). And, we will not spend time on their efforts to re-segregate schools in some communities (See North Carolina). Since you are high information voters, we assume you know the Kochs are top level Libertarian; that means compassion for people is not a trait among the brothers.

The obstruction of "all things Obama" seems common among ultra conservatives and it appears an utmost strategy of the Kochs. Whenever we read or hear about major political (PAC) contributions from ultra conservatives two names seem to show-up: David and Charles Koch.

Yesterday, The Economic Policy Journal webpage published a good synopsis piece about a much greater story. A former GOP top level administration official and the Kochs have again perpetrated what we refer to as a form of sedition.  During the post-Bush years any obstruction to the prospect of improving the nation's economy works again the general welfare of the nation.

Koch Brothers and Ed Meese Join Together To Oppose Obamacare
Given the pro-government positions on some topics, the Kochs and Ed Meese may be useful anti-Obamacare tools and cheer them on, but always keep in mind that they can only be supported on an ad hoc basis when their advocacy falls in line with liberty. I won't always.
Bottom line: The Koch brothers joined with Ed Meese are far from
Here's NYT:
Shortly after President Obama started his second term, a loose-knit coalition of conservative activists led by former Attorney General Edwin Meese III gathered in the capital to plot strategy. Their push to repeal Mr. Obama’s health care law was going nowhere, and they desperately needed a new plan.
Out of that session, held one morning in a location the members insist on keeping secret, came a little-noticed “blueprint to defunding Obamacare,” signed by Mr. Meese and leaders of more than three dozen conservative groups.
It articulated a take-no-prisoners legislative strategy that had long percolated in conservative circles: that Republicans could derail the health care overhaul if conservative lawmakers were willing to push fellow Republicans — including their cautious leaders — into cutting off financing for the entire federal government.
“We felt very strongly at the start of this year that the House needed to use the power of the purse,” said one coalition member, Michael A. Needham, who runs Heritage Action for America, the political arm of the Heritage Foundation. “At least at Heritage Action, we felt very strongly from the start that this was a fight that we were going to pick.”
Last week the country witnessed the fallout from that strategy: a standoff that has shuttered much of the federal bureaucracy and unsettled the nation.

During today's non-scheduled press conference, President Obama finally spoke about uber wealthy plutocrats who work against the good of the nation beyond their own self interest.

Addictinginfo: Ron Paul, Not Racist, Seriously? "Facts are Stubborn Things!"

We have expended many hours on Ron Paul and his racism. Paul contends he is not racist despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. Paul has received major support from white supremacist groups. He has been photographed with Don Black of StormFront Dot Org. He published racist newsletters years ago. Of course, he denied writing the passages in the newsletters, but a former administrative assistant indicated he certainly exercised editorial authority over the news letters. Paul was also reported by an Anonymous hacking probe to have sat-in on a white supremacist conference call during the 2008 presidential cycle.

Nathaniel Downes walks us through Paul's latest episode.

Ron Paul Forgets That He’s Not Racist And Plans To Attend Anti-Semitic Conference

Author August 22, 2013 1:53 am
ron paul2
Ron Paul has a racist problem. He is well known for a series of gaffes which have made him sound racist. Leaked documents show him with ties to racist groups. And let’s not forget those newsletters of his. If there is a way to appear to be bigoted, Ron Paul is there.

The John Birch Society has similarly been plagued by claims of racism. From their earliest history, back when they claimed Eisenhower was a Communist, they have been bankrolled by big money, anti-government interests. Identified with various racist movements over the years, the John Birch Society is a loud and proud anti-American organization, dedicated to destroying the ideal of “We the People” in order to impose their own brand of dictatorship – rule by the white, male majority (“No Irish Need Apply“).
And now, both Ron Paul and John Birch Society president, John McManus, are on the schedule to speak at Fatima: The Path To Peace,” a conference put together by the Society of Saint Pius X, an organization labelled by the Southern Poverty Law Center as a “Radical Powerhouse in the anti-Semitic movement. As reported, the SSPX has released articles where they pushed anti-Semitic ideals, with this as an example passage held up by the order:
In the Catholic Middle Ages the Jews were relatively impotent to harm Christendom, but as Catholics have grown over the centuries since then weaker and weaker in the faith, especially since Vatican II, so the Jews have come closer and closer to fulfilling their substitute-Messianic drive towards world dominion.
Jews for world domination? There was a powerful speaker several decades ago who claimed the same thing. We now hold up his name as an epitaph for racism after he murdered six million of them, along with countless other minorities in his drive for racial purity. What kind of “peace” can be discussed by these radicals when, in the past, that discussion has ended in mass murder, the epitome of such hate speech?
The press release for the conference itself described it well:
All speakers share one thing in common, a keen understanding that the nations of the world suffer profound disorder, that evil and shocking immorality are on the rise, that war and violence steadily increase, that the stability of our entire social order is at stake, and that a solution to the present chaos is of utmost necessity.
A solution, a final solution, to stabilize the social order – a social order whereby only the racially and ideologically pure have any rights and all others are either serfs or are fit only for extermination. Sound familiar? This peace is a peace by destruction.
That anyone would attend such a conference is disgusting and horrifying in this day and age. The radical right-wings total embrace of an almost Daffy Duck level of “It’s Mine, Mine, All Mine” has resulted in their merging with the worst aspects of human nature. That a one-time serious contender for the GOP’s presidential nomination is now cavorting with overt racists seeking nothing less than the total subjugation of any “lesser races” leaves observers with a bad taste… and leaves Ron Paul with yet another reason to be called a racist.

Rubio, Kochs, John Birch Society!!!

The following involves a bit of reading. Reading takes time.  Time is of no consequence, for people who truly are seekers of information. Information helps free the mind from dogmas, manipulation and plutocracy.

Marco Rubio accepts Koch Brothers invitation to speak where!

Down With Tyranny
Marco Rubio To Give Keynote Speech For Koch Brothers' New John Birch Society

The linked article above provides perspective on how far down the ladder Marco Rubio has fallen.

Rubio knows the history of the John Birch Society as well as anyone in the United States. Yet, he is the classic example of a politician who benefited from large infusions of cash from moneyed plutocrats. He is (as they would say in the Old West) "Obliging."  A few words about the John Birch Society.

Although anti-socialist and anti-communist as its core mission and value, never underestimate the fissures of the John Birch Society that most assured reached into anti-Civil Rights.  If I am not mistaken, the JBS also had, and continues to maintain,  anti-Semitic belief paradigm.

Racist roots: The John Birch Society today denies any racial or anti-Semitic animus, but it wasn’t always so. The society joined others on the far right in accusing Martin Luther King of attending a “Communist training school” in the 1960s. WILLIAM LOVELACE/GETTY IMAGES

The man pictured at the meeting was so obviously not Martin Luther King, Jr. Does the 1964 image remind of anything today. How about and the Fox News broadcast model.
The resurgence of the John Birch Society (JBS) is no surprise.  As with the exponential growth of militia groups and hate groups post the first inauguration of the nation's first African-American President, groups such as the JBS and the Tea Party should have been expected as resurgent off-shoots.
JBS Founder, Welch
If you are a consistent reader of the TPI, you know that David and Charles Koch are major supporters of the Tea Party, Freedom Works and The Americans for Prosperity Foundation.  In fact, we think it safe to posit, were it not for Koch money, the nation would be free of a Tea Party infested 112th and 113th Congress with approval ratings reaching single digits.  Whether you have a personal affinity for the tea party (was you once perceived it) its impact on progress toward improving our economy is as reliable to the negative as the 24 hour clock.  The movement has also drawn support from groups who are intolerant against people who are not white Americans. I saw so despite the like of Allen West, Ted Cruz, and the former tea arty poster figure Marco Rubio.   The Kochs are also son's of  JBS founding member.

Earlier in 2013, The Southern Poverty Law Center published a piece about the resurgent JBS.

Southern Poverty Law Center:  Bringing Back Birch
Charges of racism and anti-Semitism have dogged the John Birch Society since its earliest days. It opposed civil rights legislation in the 1960s, saying the African-American freedom movement was being manipulated from Moscow with the goal of creating a “Soviet Negro Republic” in the Southern United States. The society was a close ally of Alabama’s segregationist governer George Wallace and reportedly had 100 chapters in and around Birmingham, Alabama’s largest city, as well as chapters across the rest of the state. Thompson, the group’s CEO, said the society has never been either racist or anti-Semitic, going so far as to add that once a member is discovered to harbor such views he or she is immediately “booted out.’’

From Welch to Koch
The John Birch Society has been knocked down and counted out numerous times since it was founded in 1958 by Robert Welch, a brilliant, wealthy former candy manufacturer, high-ranking Massachusetts Republican Party official and board member of the ultra-conservative National Association of Manufacturers. The society was named after an American missionary and Army intelligence officer executed by the Chinese days after World War II. One of the society’s first members and major backers was Fred Koch, a multimillionaire businessman, who left a fortunate to his sons. David and Charles Koch have become the billionaire sugar daddies of today’s American right.

Back from the Birchers: Claire Conner
grew up among leading lights of the

society, but completely rejected its
views later in life. COURTESY CLAIRE
At 67, Claire Conner has been watching the John Birch Society up close and very personal for most of her life. Conner was once right-wing royalty, a princess in the court of Welch. Her father was a member of the 25-person national council of the society for 32 years. He was the first official Bircher in Chicago. Her mother was the second. They signed their daughter up when she was 13. Welch often stayed at their home when visiting the city on Birch business. “He was kind of off-putting when you first met him,” Conner said. “You expected this giant of a man. He had sinus problems and was forever coughing into a handkerchief. When he gave a speech, he just read it. But he was brilliant, and, at the dinner table, he was very animated.’’
Conner long ago turned her back on the society. Today, she is an unabashed, proud, Obama-loving liberal. She has written a funny and sometimes sad book about growing up Birch called Wrapped in the Flag: A Personal History of America’s Radical Right that is due to be released by Beacon Press in early July. She worries that her fellow liberals are making an old mistake, underestimating the John Birch Society and its ability to “create havoc.”
“I always say to my liberal friends you better stop laughing at these people and pay attention,” she says. “The ideas that you hear today coming from the right were generated in the ’60s by the John Birch Society. It’s new language, but the same ideas. In terms of the intellectual framework of the GOP, it’s the Birch Society every single day.”
She says liberals are still celebrating Obama’s re-election while the Birchers and the rest of the right are back at work. One lost election or 20 years of lost elections, she says, won’t discourage them. “If anything,” she says, “they’re going to be energized. They really believe President Obama is part of the socialist revolution that began with FDR. So, they’re going to dig in their heels. They’re going to get busy and stay busy. As the kids say, that’s how they roll.
Modern American conservatism is busting at the seems with wacky examples of people who desire a nation that is governed via various forms of plutocracy.  Billionaires and millionaires do not spend opulent sums of money without a pre-determined purpose. If they spend, as business men (and in a fewer cases women) they expect a very business-like common ROI (Return on Investment).  In fairness, the Left also has major contributors who give opulent sums.  We do not, however, find those contributors stoking the fires of liberalism to the point of advancing agendas comparable to how the Kochs influence right-wing politics. We do not find an organizations comparable to the American Legislative Exchange council (ALEC) on the Left. In fact, we do not even find efforts by Liberals donors to influence state governance as does the members of ALEC. I personally cannot recall Left leaning corporations forming bounds to shape legislation.  All said, Rubio accepts and invitation to speak at the John Birch Society existentially places the Cuban-immigrant descendant in a precarious position with no good end.

The "price" (pun intended) we pay!

Video perspectives from the founder of the JBS.  You will notice a clear focus on socialism, communism and anti-government dogma.  What you do not see in the following video are clear anti-Civil Rights and clear anti-Semite views that accompany the JBS platform and paradigm-ed beliefs systems.

Kochs Want To Own America (Romney is their lynchpin)

I was recently re-introduced to the Kochs from a perspective that I will admit to being shamelessly ignorant. David and Charles Koch come from 'stock' that many might consider dangerous to any society.  Dangerous if one considers that so many of our traits, character, and motivations are passed down through our DNA. If you or I somehow avoid physical and mental family DNA, think about the significant impact of our 'upbringing" (lineage, environment and parenting).  The Kochs have a lineage that includes societal horrors in Nazi German and the 1950's US John Birch Society(JBS).

Writers admit to difficulty in finding information about the Koch family. A history that may connect to Nazi war Crimes.   How about a quick journey through the Koch's contribution to the Third Reich.

Let's start with a Ilse Koch: (many bloggers are reporting this same information . The root origin of the information is not easy to locate)

 Ilse Koch

Notorious Nazis Ilse Koch, her husband Karl Otto Koch and Erich Koch are the ghosts of  Koch Industries, who seized the U.S. conservative political agenda years ago and seem capable of seizing the government in total through the Tea Party. Ilse Koch was the Nazi’s specialist in making objects from human skin; was the only woman charged with war crimes; and along with her husband was in charge of one of the most horrific horror camps in Nazi Germany. Ilse and her husband Karl were tried by the SS before the war ended, accused of corruption. Her husband Karl Otto Koch was tried and sentenced to death in Nazi Germany. After the war, Ilse was arrested in the German American Zone, tried in front of a tribunal and sentenced, but was quickly pardoned by the American general appointed leader of the zone.
Erich Koch
Koch reported to Hitler that unemployment had been banished entirely from East Prussia, a feat that gained admiration throughout the Reich.

On September 1, Koch became Reichskommissar of Reichskommissariat Ukraine with control of the Gestapo and the police. His domain was extended from the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea; he captured ethnic German, Polish, Belarus and Ukrainian’s declaring that “Ukraine children need no schools. What they’ll have to learn will be taught them by their German masters” and “If I meet a Ukrainian worthy of being seated at my table, I must have him shot..”.
Brother of Erich Koch, Karl Otto Koch
….(August 2, 1897 – April 5, 1945), a Standartenf├╝hrer (Colonel) in the German Schutzstaffel (SS), was the first commandant of the Nazi concentration camps at Buchenwald. On August 1, 1937 he was given command of the new concentration camp at Buchenwald. Investigation into his improper conduct at Buchenwald included corruption, fraud, embezzlement, drunkenness, sexual offences and a murder. Koch’s orders to kill prisoners at the camp were revealed, as well as embezzlement of property stolen from prisoners.
Fred Chase Koch
….(September 23, 1900 – November 17, 1967) chemical engineer and founded the TEXACO oil refinery firm that later became Koch Industries (Chevron). Koch and its customers were sued for patent infringement, process for turning crude oil into gasoline. Litigation effectively put Winkler-Koch out of business in the U.S. for several years. Koch turned his focus to foreign markets, including the Soviet Union and NAZI GERMANY, reportedly with the help of ERICH KOCH.

During his time in the Soviet Union, Fred Koch came to despise communism and Josef Stalin’s regime “a land of hunger, misery and terror”.

Fred C. Koch married Mary Robinson in Kansas City, Missouri in 1932. They had four sons, Frederick (b. 1933), Charles (b. 1935), David (b. 1940) and William (b. 1940). His sons are Charles de Ganahl Koch and David H. Koch.
Now let's move forward to the 1950's and Fred Koch, David and Charles Koch's father.

The John Birch Society

The society was established in Indianapolis, Indiana, on December 9, 1958, by a group of 12 led by Robert Welch, Jr., a retired candy manufacturer from Belmont, Massachusetts. Welch named the new organization after John Birch, an American Baptist missionary and United States military intelligence officer who was shot by communist forces in China in August 1945, shortly after the conclusion of World War II. Welch claimed that Birch was an unknown, but dedicated anti-communist,[7] and the first American casualty of the Cold War.

One of the founding members[22][23][24] was Fred Koch,[25] founder of Koch Industries, one of the largest private corporations in America.[26]

Robert Welch, JR,. on , "What is the John Birch Society".

Youtube.... (4:13 Minutes. The primary focus for posting here is the last 2 minutes of the video)

If Fred Koch was one of 20 founders of the JBS, I posit it is impossible his children (at least the two most visible) managed to avoid a paradigm that coincided with the following.

The John Birch Society is as anti-civil Rights, as the Ku Klux Klan. The basic difference between the two cancers in US society are tactics for achievement of a 'snow white' society. The JBS's possible acceptance of African-Americans living in servitude and certainly in a state akin to American Southern Jim Crowe is both offset and complimented by the Ku Klux Klan and many other white supremacist groups. While the Ku Klux Klan is generally about the uneducated, and guttural business of hatred of blacks, Jews and Catholics, the Welch/Koch founded JBS is much more crippling to the basic fabric of a fair America.

If you watched Point 2 of the video, you heard Welch speak about JBS's concern with communism.  Much written material indicate the JBS aversion to civil rights was, and is, based in its concern for infiltration of communist and associated doctrine. Nonetheless, we lump the Ku Klux Klan, the John Birch Society as well as the Mormon Church are similarly anti-minority and harbor beliefs contrary to American principles as a republic democracy.

Have you noticed the sprinkling of Republicnas we are openly using the word, "communism" in their opratory?  One has to wonder if they are not pandering to the Kochs.

If you take a bit of time and educate yourself about Charles and David Koch, you might get a better feel for progressive contempt at every mention of their names.  The name is forever emblazoned in world history.   Why allow the descendants of such shame take a financial hold on the Executive branch of the US Government?
