John McCain And Fox News's "Dumb Question"

Image result for steve doocy son
"Dumb Question" reporter and his father.
Yes, you recognize the father.

Last night's MSNBC News (talk) sows were nothing shy of stellar reporting and host opining.  Starting with Ari Melber's The Beat and finishing with a really great set of segments on The 11th Hour with Brian Williams, the network offered real journalism and professional commentary. Even if you are an on the fence voter (AKA independent) you would have to possess a deep hatred of liberalism (AKA progressivism) to find the shows null and "fake news."

Since the networks segments can run a bit long, I have posted a segment from Lawrence O'Donnell's The Last Word.  The segment relates to political criticism and Trump's kerfuffle with John McCain while offering a glimpse into the difference between professional news reporting (questions) and propaganda laden smut questioning from the GOP Communication and Propaganda network (Fox News).  O'Donnell offers a copious amount of commentary prior to running the question of McCain via MSNBC's reporter and the Fox News reporter. The Fox News reporter seemed to be the son of well known early morning host Steve Doocy.

Also, notice how McCain took the Fox News reporter to the journalistic woodshed and administered a lashing. The lashing hit home as you will notice the reporter's jaw tighten and flinch as McCain takes him to the credible journalism shed.

McCain has just spoken about how he is above Trump's name-calling and non-productive talk and stated his willingness to work with Trump. Why would the Fox News reporter totally ignore McCain's just delivered comment with a question obviously developed and given to the reporter by Fox News producers?

A couple of non-surprises: A dumb question from Fox News is like a Rabbit with oversized ears: of course.  Also, would anyone expect any level of a quesiotsn from the son of Steve Doocy which wouldn't be a dumb question?

McCain Votes; Trump Stumbles, Viva La ACA (Video)

The moment John McCain, R-AZ) cast his vote against the so-called Senate ObamaCare "skinny bill.' McCain grabbed a moment of theatrics. I wonder if the watched the movie Lincoln and its vote dramatics.

With a loud, "No!"

And, Majority Leader McConnell suffers a tsunami sphincter contraction.

The crowd outside the Capitol after hearing Republicans didn't have the votes.
And, your president's first reaction to the vote. A vote which forestalled 15 million Americans losing their medical coverage in 2018. The bill would also have set in place 20% premiums increases starting next year.

          Donald J. Trump‏ @realDonaldTrump
3 Republicans and 48 Democrats let the American people down. As I said from the beginning, let ObamaCare implode, then deal. Watch!

A few days earlier Trump tweeted as such:

So great that John McCain is coming back to vote. Brave - American hero! Thank you John.

Trump is a totally misguided and seemingly unstable person.

He also seems to attract like characters.

The Daily GOP Ignominious: Trump Attacks McCain's Military Serivce

A couple of days ago John McCain spoke with Ryan Lizza of Th New Yorker about GOP 2016 presidential front runner (polling numbers), Donald Trump. Yes, Trump's racist rhetoric has catapulted the GOP carnival barker to the position of celebrated carnival barker.
The Conservative Tree House, July 14.....

McCain's response to an event in his home state of Arizona and a few thousands revelers at the Phoenix event, didn't set well with McCain.

The New Yorker
“It’s very bad,” McCain, who was eager to talk about Trump, told me on Monday when I stopped by his Senate office. The Senator is up for reëlection in 2016, and he pays close attention to how the issue of immigration is playing in his state. He was particularly rankled by Trump’s rally. “This performance with our friend out in Phoenix is very hurtful to me,” McCain said. “Because what he did was he fired up the crazies.”
Needless to say, McCain's comments struck the irascible Trump such a typical Trump response came forth. Trump took little time for a patented strategic and opportunistic comment.  First, Trump again threw-out the false claims lie of 15,000 Phoenix attendee and positioning McCain;s remarks towards the event attendees. Apparently, the City Fire Marshall or fire authorities refuted the 15,000 claim with reference to building code restriction for the facility. It is, by fire code, only allowed to house 4,000.  Trump's response on Twitter.

McCain never referred to the attendees as "crazies" en mass. His comments appear to have been much more general and related to Trump's excitement of elements on the GOP who are frankly "crazies." Nonetheless, Trump positioned for affect, and the battles ensued.

You have to know Trump did not stop there. His response to the pubic regarding McCain's comments were personal and outright ridiculous. The GOP carnival barker took exception to McCain as a national hero based on the fact he was captured while piloting a Navy Aircraft over North Viet Nam. Trump also criticized McCain for finishing towards the bottom of his Annapolis Class. McCain graduated 894 out of 899 graduates. Trumps comments are a bit perplexing yet indicative of his judgment and his emotional state; especially for a man who received military service deferments during the course of the Viet Nam War (like Dick Cheney).

Ezra Klein's Vox
Donald Trump never served in Vietnam. He's claimed in the past that he would have gone if drafted, but his draft number — the lottery number assigned to American men over 18 to determine the order in which they could be called into service — was too high. But records discovered in 2011 show that Trump got draft deferments from 1964 to 1968, while he was a college student, as well as an additional deferment afterward for medical reasons.

Trump's McCain Attack

The RNC has spoken on the Trump attack:

Posted by Mediaite on Saturday, July 18, 2015

We should report a day later Trump has refused to apologized for his remarks, but he has modified his criticism to McCain's Senate votes regarding our Veterans.

Prospects For Peace, GOP Reaction; Your Dollars And Children May Suffer War

Barack Obama's election in 2008 must have appeared as an oasis for Iran. Candidate Obama offered early signals he would talk with any nation to foster and preserve peace. In the course of the 2008 presidential campaign, Obama's words were a campaign mantra against "....bomb, bomb, bomb, Iran" John McCain. Also, his expression of willingness to talk to avoid war echoed the spirit of his opposition to Bush/Cheney's Invasion of Iraq. After eight years of Bush wars the US would have self imposed a death knell with more war. An election win for McCain, or four years later a win for Romney, would without question have led to an OK for an Israeli attack against Iran's nuclear programs. War bells toll as if the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq never happened. Some on the right are now offering wanton quest for the indiscriminate bombing of Iran is the thing to do (e.g. John Bolton, former Bush recess appointment Ambassador to the United Nations). Apparently, "war-hawk" McCain supports similar attacks.

Let's take Bolton's jingoist dogma and that of McCain to another more dangerous level. If you need any level of evidence, Your GOP is seeking yet another war, following this link (s) to John Boehner's war drivel. Mind you, Boehner is second in ascendancy to the Presidency should tragedy befall both President Obama and Vice President Biden.

After literally driving the United States into the precipice of economic ruin, in part due to two wars and cutting taxes, Your GOP longs for more war.

Before we move to another perspective on the real prospect of a "deal" consider a key position from a key Republican. John Boehner's Speaker of the House of Representatives, is speaking as if he also longs for war. While speaking about President Obama as an "anti-war" president, the Speaker reveals a paradigm that while longstanding among card carrying members of the GOP, also reveals what can only exist as an inner desire for war with Iran. A longing that seems to manifest in obedient servitude to the GOP's major constituency: Money-broker oligarch and the defense industry.

Unequivocally, 2008 candidate Obama directed his desire to talk to a nation weary of war and to a nation that would eventually become strangling with sanctions. Sanctions work! If you doubt in any way the deleterious effect of years under international sanctions, give Vladimir Putin a call. Or better yet, ask Edward Snowden to ask Putin on your behalf.

I posit Iranian leaders also got the willingness to talk message from Obama. Talk ensued apparently via diplomatic channels well before the US public was told of the prospect of a path to an Iran without a nuclear weapon.

From the reaction of the Iranian people, or large parts of the population the talks are as welcome as any given New Year. PBS offers a video about conditions in Iran prior to this past week's "agreement." The video actually reports on conditions that lead up to Iran's willingness to talk.

Now, take another minute and check out another very brief video of how Iranian daily life may change once sanctions are eased (should the agreement lead to such): Posted by PBS NewsHour on Sunday, April 5, 2015 In 1 minute: Learn how daily life in Iran may change if the nuclear agreement holds and sanctions are eased. Plus, watch our 2014 report from Tehran ►

Many sources are reporting the agreement has potential for a "good deal." The only comment I hear and read with negative deal overtones emanate from Israel's Prime Minister, Netanyahu, Fox News and the GOP.
Former Johnson Era adviser and national security adviser to Jimmy Carter, Zbigniew Brzezinski spoke on MSNBC about alternatives to the "deal." The operative words in Brzezinski minutes of the show: "self-destruction", without a deal. MSNBC linked, here.

Now, for that detail we so love here on the TPI. The Atlantic published a piece that offers the reader "by the numbers" clarity on the potential deal.

with all out efforts to sabotage the deal. Let's hope President Obama, the international community, and Iran will deal (pun intended) the "dark-side" yet another defeat.

You and I will pay for war weaponry and war, or kids and grand kids will fight the war, while the uber wealthy, relatives of members of congress and demagogues on Fox News remain Top 1% insulated from the ravishes of war.

The Daily GOP Ignominious: John McCain

Inadequacy and self loathing still exist in the ol dinosaur
John McCain shows the essence of GOP inner psyche regarding politics, politicking, and political dogma. Apparently, Netanyahu's comments along this line: "There will be no Palestinian State..."  the day before the Israeli elections didn't touch into any concern from the Right.

The fact the Israeli leader was flat out over the top lying not only didn't bother the irascible, McCain. He has taken to using the lie against the man who soundly defeated him and Sarah Palin in 2008.

 "temper tantrum?" (1:50 minutes)

I notice we have bit heard from McCain after Netanyahu offered his version of the ever present perfunctory apology.

Netanyahu, whose Likud Party won re-election in the vote, met with members of the Arab community at the prime minister's residence in Jerusalem on Monday and apologized.
He said he knows his "comments last week offended some Israeli citizens and offended members of the Israeli-Arab community."
"This was never my intent. I apologize for this," Netanyahu said. "I view myself as the prime minister of each and every citizen of Israel, without any prejudice based on religion, ethnicity or gender."
"I view all Israeli citizens as partners in the building of a prosperous and safe state of Israel, for all Israelis," he also said.
It appears President Obama's communicating with the Israeli leader induced a degree of personal cognitive dissonance and a political apology.  As I see the apology, I see leadership from Obama and I reflect on "get over it" via McCain.

While unrelated to Israel, I also reflect on the Paleozoic relic as he goes about the business of Senate votes.

The Daily GOP Ignominious: Palin Apologizes To The "Globe" (Insanity)

Does it look like we are reading?
While I will not spend much time on this post, I do feel compelled to share Sean Hannity and Sarah Palin's latest "carnival act" for Hannity's viewers.

Fortunately, the associated video clip runs 35 seconds only. Therefore, we do not have to concern with over exposure to Palin's overwhelming ignorance, Hannity's propaganda.

Here is the clip snippet....
Let's briefly address a few points.

From the time he graduated fourth from last out of 894 Annapolis graduates, John McCain has exhibited decision-making commensurate with his class standing. Three most notable decisions?
One: Sarah Palin as a perspective VP candidate in 2008. Two: The Keating Five Savings and Loan Scandal for which he should have been banned removed for the US Senate.Three: Reports of abandoning a severely injured ill wife to marry his moneyed current wife.
Of course, we know the purpose of the Hannity segment, but when Fox goes there, network management should give deep thought to millions upon million who recognized Palin as a McCain Achilles Heel. I offer that she literally influenced many conservatives to vote with their brains and not their lock-step tendencies via voting against the McCain ticket.

Palin offers an apology to the "globe."  I posit the globe is a much better place due to McCain's 2008 loss.  Let's take a quick peep at two items that support my point.

ON September 6, 2013, Mother Jones published this graphic via this link

McCain has previously quipped about leaving US troops in Afghanistan for 100 years. he also, just his week used Japan and Germany as sterling examples of leaving large armies in post-war foreign lands. Is the US a conquering and occupying nations?" Do you realize the cost incurred via maintaining large armies in foreign lands. McCain also failed to address the fact Maliki clearly wanted US troops out of Iraq via refusal to signed a standard Security Agreement. Would McCain have defied the wishes of a leader Bush helped to place in office? John McCain is a walking case of perpetual US war.

Another critical and very quick pint. If my recall isn't failing me, I recall hearing and seeing John McCain declare the he had a history of supporting 99% of George W. Bush's policies.

McCain: from the mouth of the irascible one: link.

My recall of candidate Obama's retort from one of the 2008 Presidential Debates:
"“What does it say about your judgment when you think George Bush has been right more than 90 percent of the time?” he asked. “I don’t know about you, but I’m not ready to take a 10 percent chance on change.”
Fox News must stand in perspective.  It is not a news network in any sense and Palin as apologist to the world is as nutty as Palin positing on Paul Revere and his pre-Revolutionary War alerts for the English.

If Hannity and Palin wish to express an apology, Palin should have received a to apologize for accepting the GOP VP ticket slot in 2008 McCain may have garner a few million more votes.

Now, let's layout a typical Palin report.  Two reports. The Wonkette report is a must read.

The New York Daily News

But the investigation continues!

Twitter Tree; Low Hanging Fruit, Halliburton, Duck Dynasty, Fox News

OK, OK we start this tree with low hanging fruit.

Never is there risk in including a posting regarding on of Americas recent great tragedies. A tragedy that befell the nation in 2008 and level against us all by Republican politics and its disregard for the good of the nation.  Sarah Palin as our 2008 tragedy was (is) bitter fruit, but nonetheless low hanging:

The really sad consideration of the meme is Palin's use of the word "meant."  Are you comfortable with Palin interpreting the intent of the crafters of the US Constitution?

Since, we explored low-hanging fruit, let's take a look at another set of John McCainisms.  Can this man do anything right?  From graduation at fifth from the bottom of his Annapolis class, through disobeying orders and landing in the Hanoi Hilton, right through the Keating Five Scandal and many years later the prospect of Sarah Palin in the White House? When will the people of Arizona grow weary of the aging relic?

While US media will not make the connection, social media is reminding of McCain's secret journey to Syria of hobnob with the current murderous leaders of ISIS.
This branches of our Twitter Tree also reach into the fallacy of Fox News, the unfathomable psyche of Sean Hannity's audience, and the continuing scam of the Bayou Bigotry" Phil Robertson. Regardless of your fondness for mindless entertainment like Duck Dynasty and your choice to ignore the politics of the shows entertainers, you have to question the temerity of Hannity and his producers. Their reach for the ultimate insult to the intellect of anyone with an IQ above 80, is truly astounding. Astounding while validation Fox News's mission in reaching for what the right perceives as popular to entertain its viewers.
Speaking of Fox News!!! And those of you who cannot stomach Arabs!
Know your GOP Vets! Know your GOP active duty soldiers, airmen, sailors and Marines!!!!!
Over ripe fruit with a very bitter taste.
After destroying or eliminating evidence from the Gulf Oil spill and years of legal battles, Halliburton settled on a $1.1 billion dollar settlement. During a recent broadcast on CNN, I heard Halliburton's stock is up 112% since the Gulf drilling rig explosion. The explosion resulted in the death of 11 platform workers and utter destruction of major parts of the Gulf of Mexico. In fact, tar balls continue to wash shore in the US Gulf and on Florida's coastlines.

Tar Balls I
Tar Balls II
Tar Balls III (Flesh eating components?)

Much like the legacy of George W. Bush and Dick Cheney, former CEO Halliburton, will the scourge of Halliburton ever wear away from the United States? From "no bid" war contracts under Bush/Cheney to destruction of one of the world's most beautiful and prolific ecosystems, America's Halliburton proves corporations are not people and corporations need for greater regulation and monitoring.

US Media (Including MSNBC) Wherefore Art Thou? McCain's ISIS Is Running Wild (VIDEO)

Over the past two plus years, John McCain and his shadow Lindsey Graham have perpetrated a media blitz to secure funding and arms for so-called Syrian rebels.

The Hill's Justin Sink as far backs as 2012....
Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), who both serve on the Senate Armed Services committee, argued that arming rebel fighters in the country could help beat back a Syrian government with close ties to Iran.

“Breaking Syria apart from Iran could be as important to containing a nuclear Iran as sanctions,” Graham said at a press conference in Kabul, according to the New York Times. “If the Syrian regime is replaced with another form of government that doesn’t tie its future to the Iranians, the world is a better place.”
If you wish a full blast of McCain/Graham's self-fulling ignorance, an August 29, 2014 New York Times OP-Ed shines revealing light on the Bopsy twins. If you read the OP-ED pay particular attention to their attack against President Obama for his frank comments about not-yet-developed strategic/tactical plans for dealing with ISIS. As matter of discussion do you join me in relating, Obama would never admit to a presser reporter the extent to which he will deal with ISIS? Nor should he speak via electronic media to the leaders of ISIS. Any such dialog would not only have possibly provided a glimpse into US stratagem, the wrong words could lead to US troop deaths; a concern obviously not shared by the Bopsy duo. Anyone with a modicum of open-minded brain power knows Obama has a strategy for dealing with ISIS. Strategy can only succeed with INTEL and support from key players. Official INTEL commenced late last week with direct orders to the US INTEL community. Do you believe for one second the US military and INTEL community were not active in ISIS surveillance prior to over-flight orders? We should rest assured the strategy, both mission and operational will not fall within the realm of McCain/Graham jingoism. The same jingoism that led the "white knight" charge of Bush's armies into Iraq. The strategy will enfold much more like the effective elimination of Obama bin Laden and elimination of Somali pirate raiders.

Neither McCain nor Graham spoke publicly about this response from Bush when asked about bin Laden's alluding apprehension.  Not one word from the Bopsy boys.

Bush often commented about bin Laden living in a  cave when he was well housed in a Pakistani estate build express for the terror master.

When it comes to two Senators who are as responsible for taking the US to the precipice of economic and international ruin, a bit of introspection is in order. Introspection that is not at all mentioned via US media!
John McCain and the GOP are pure political malarkey and a social force that is dangerous to the United States.
In May of 2013, John McCain took a secret trip to Syria to discuss giving arms and support to Syrian rebels. On 29 June 2014, ISIS announced the establishment of a caliphate, al-Baghdadi was named its caliph, to be known as Caliph Ibrahim, and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant was renamed the Islamic State (IS)
Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader and commander of the Islamic State in Iraq, otherwise known as ISIS.
John McCain photographed in secret meeting with Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the Commander of the Islamic State terror group known as ISIS. Is this where the funding for ISIS came from?
Why is there no mention of this in the main stream media? Why is this story being buried? Did McCain help funnel money and weapons to al-Baghdadi after his secret meeting in 2013? Is ISIS a creation of the Pentagon? How did ISIS get so big so fast?…

US media should be ashamed of its focus, mission, and product.

John McCain Join Howard Kurtz On Fox and Earns A Jon Stewart Segment

This past Sunday John McCain found his Sunday morning news show perch on Fox News.  Each week McCain must focus on which Sunday news show he would join as surely a you and I contemplate our next great meal.  His worship of and longing for a Sunday News show seat has to compare to the deep libido surges of a very young alpha male who hasn't been close to (that  GOP loathsome act) of copulation in quite some time. His Sunday appearances must surely "make his day week."

While sitting with Howard Kurtz may not provide the same libido surge as an interview with Meet The Press's resident conservative, David Gregory, or the back and forth Bob Schieffer, nor the "safe" progressive interview with George Stephanopoulos, it is nonetheless a Sunday seat.  Gotta take what you can get!

Since Kurtz is in no way even an alleged journalist, I wonder if McCain knew in advance his visit with include questions about Comedy Central's (The Daily Show) Jon Stewart.  If McCain was prepped for the interview with full disclosure of a "turn at Jon Stewart", McCain must not have consulted with his advisers. Heck, it appeared he didn't even consult with his wife Cindy on playing it safe via avoiding Kurtz's muckraking. Muckraking that could only lead to a Daily Show segment with Stewart at the helm. As Stewart so adroitly pointed-out in the following segment, one would think the last word McCain should use in public is "wrong." If you need an example here is a hint: "ALASKA."

And did Stewart come through!  The Daily Show host didn't even bring-up Sarah Palin as he responded to the Kurtz/McCain interview.  There wasn't an need to reach to McCain most noted mistake since hanging out with the Keating Five during the savings and Loan Scandal. Fortunately for McCain, Stewart held his response to slightly over two minutes.  However, we suspect Stewart is saving the "Good stuff" should McCain make the mistake of joining Stewart on The Daily Show. Or, the good stuff will be sprinkled among other opportunities Stewart will surely exercise with focused in the Keystone Cop existence of today's GOP.
