The Daily GOP ignominious: The Leaders Lies, The Staff Cover The Lie; Democracy Suffers

Image result for lies beget lies quoteHave you ever seen or heard the phrase "A Bridge Too Far?"  How about the possibility you may have seen the movie titled as such? If you haven't the words are such they are easily discernible and straightforward. The words denote the reality of a task or something which is outside of the reach of doable. No matter how hard one tried or how much effort extended the task always falls to the reality of "fail."

After the killing of four US Army Special Forces troops in Niger, the nation's 45th President built a bridge based on foundations which were not true (he lied) and fixing his lie is an impossible task for his "presstitutes" and top staff.

Trump's presstitutes are digging the administration deeper and deeper into a hole while moving "the bridge" farther and farther away after Trump responded to a Rose Garden question. A question about why after 10 plus days he hadn't commented once about the loss of four of our finest military assets.
We to this day have no idea why Trump and his security and communications tea totally ignored the deaths for almost two weeks.  What we do know is the Trump team should have anticipated a question about the matter at the Rose Garden visit and should have equipped the communication (skills) deficient Trump with a better answer in the video above.

Trump again reached back to Obama (and others who preceded him) for lie based efforts to rationale his failures.

After days of proving the president was not accurate regarding his condolences wishes vs that of Obama, the arrival of the late Sgt. La David Johnson proved to push the Trump bridge out into the stratosphere.  Well, outside the reach of acceptable and rational comments from his presstitutes.

Before we move into Trump's webs of entanglement in which his staff and surrogates are forced to navigate, take three and one-half minutes for a perspective on Trump's lack of veracity and his penchant to simply lie as a first thought.

CNN

With credible validation of Trump's first thought inclination to lie or to lie for effectiveness let's move into yet another week of Trump social catastrophe. Towards the middle of the week and with the arrival of Sgt Johnson's body, Trump went here:
Trump told the pregnant widow her husband: “he knew what he signed up for... but when it happens it hurts anyway.
If we jump forward to week's end and the "stunning" revelation Trump's Chief of Staff Kelly gave Trump those words and accompanying thoughts, the plight of the staff (as presstitute) starts to materialize from the evaporating fog of Trumpism. Problem, most former military highest ranking generals are not proper sources for seeking words of empathy to pass to a twenty-something pregnant wife. Generals are called on, at times, to affect war and killing, the young mother's experience with life has probably been consumed with love of family love of her very young children and love of her now deceased husband.

End jump forward digression.

Kelly's words to the virtually illiterate Trump led to his coming forth with the revelation of his culpability and complicity I offer words to the widower which to her and her family seems insensitive.  I will not post Kelly's lie-filled performance to the White House Press Corp; I prefer to post Lawrence O'Donnell's effective dissection of Kelly's remarks.  The segment is very long, but not a minute wasted on setup and loquacious gobbled-gook.

Kelly is not a tool to shave the rough edges from Trump he is, in fact, an enabler.

From Kelly's lie filled performance, we move to one of the most despicable examples of growing US authoritarianism we have witnessed since Richard Nixon and Spiro Agnew (for those old enough to remember).

Just think. the nation, US taxpayers, pay for the White House Press Secretary to roll-out each day as Presstitute Numer One and do stuff like this.

"If you want to go after General Kelly, that is up to you. If you want to get into a debate with a four-star Marine general, I think that is something highly inappropriate."

If you have never witnessed authoritarianism laced with utter (and dangerous) sycophancy, you just observed and heard it from the White House. Most rational and self-respecting people would not have even thought the thought Sanders spoke as willingly as her daily lies from the podium.

On a more serious note, can you recognize the last national leaders who so surrounded himself with generals and a dedicated communications ministry?  If you need a hint, think about nascent growth and proliferation of white supremacist, anti-Semites and public exhibitions of Nazism.

While on the topic of communications, propaganda, and mind-shaping demagogues let's spend a few minutes with a couple of Trump's most visible talking-heads and reactions from people who hold diametrically opposite views. One person is a Republican, Rick Wilson, and a non-Trump supporter.

A well-known CNN contributor and conservative radio host and noted former congressional Trump rationalizers, took a step too far via blaming the Left for not taking the high road regarding Trump's  wallowing in the gutter.

Republican Rick Wilson, an anti-Trump Republican, was having no of it today.

Jack Kingston, an over-the-top Trump rationalizer, continues to make a fool of himself while trying to straddle the moving Trump fence.

Kingston is almost as ridiculous as the former CNN contributor Jeffrey Lord.

Yes, Trump and his close cabal offer a bridge too far.  The real tragedy is Trump moves that bridge farther and farther out with each passing week.

Last point; generals as the closets of advisers is not the tendency of a leader who cherishes democracy.

John McCain And Fox News's "Dumb Question"

Image result for steve doocy son
"Dumb Question" reporter and his father.
Yes, you recognize the father.

Last night's MSNBC News (talk) sows were nothing shy of stellar reporting and host opining.  Starting with Ari Melber's The Beat and finishing with a really great set of segments on The 11th Hour with Brian Williams, the network offered real journalism and professional commentary. Even if you are an on the fence voter (AKA independent) you would have to possess a deep hatred of liberalism (AKA progressivism) to find the shows null and "fake news."

Since the networks segments can run a bit long, I have posted a segment from Lawrence O'Donnell's The Last Word.  The segment relates to political criticism and Trump's kerfuffle with John McCain while offering a glimpse into the difference between professional news reporting (questions) and propaganda laden smut questioning from the GOP Communication and Propaganda network (Fox News).  O'Donnell offers a copious amount of commentary prior to running the question of McCain via MSNBC's reporter and the Fox News reporter. The Fox News reporter seemed to be the son of well known early morning host Steve Doocy.

Also, notice how McCain took the Fox News reporter to the journalistic woodshed and administered a lashing. The lashing hit home as you will notice the reporter's jaw tighten and flinch as McCain takes him to the credible journalism shed.

McCain has just spoken about how he is above Trump's name-calling and non-productive talk and stated his willingness to work with Trump. Why would the Fox News reporter totally ignore McCain's just delivered comment with a question obviously developed and given to the reporter by Fox News producers?

A couple of non-surprises: A dumb question from Fox News is like a Rabbit with oversized ears: of course.  Also, would anyone expect any level of a quesiotsn from the son of Steve Doocy which wouldn't be a dumb question?

The Daily GOP Ignominious: Lies, Misinformation, Fakery

Lies, Misinformation, Fakery Bundled As "Incompetence"

If you are a High Information Voter (HIV), you really must peruse this piece from the Washington Post.

In 263 days, President Trump has made 1,318 false and misleading claims

As of our latest update Oct. 10, 2017, or his 264th day in office, the president has made 1,318 claims over 263 days. He has averaged five claims a day, even picking up pace since the six-month mark. (Our full interactive graphic can be found here.)
The state of Trump is one of lies, misinformation, fakery accompanied by behind the scenes GOP reach back and grabs of times well past.  During last night's The Last Word, MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell, masterfully guided his audience through the Trump pathology of lie after lie, after lie.

Yes, the Trump pathology.  Is it [possible Trump supporters are starting to see through his campaign rhetoric? Are they suffering a form of post-election dissonance? Are they feeling entertained? One can only hope the answer to each question is: "Yes." They are entertained without cable TV fees, but it comes with the real prospect of moving the nation back to a pre-1950s cesspool of social injustice, the risk of nuclear weapons use , indifference to national natural catastrophes, and an apparent lack of concern for our military personnel losses.

While most will never admit to any level of "Trump concern", there is evidence of growing remorse from Trump's base. Just after the 2016 General elections, I read a social media comment which seemed to chide voters about the apparent or claimed, the success of a  "rural vote" election win. Yes, that ever-present rural vote (a euphemism) is time-worn and wrought with danger. We have suffered from the GOP rural vote" in our recent past.  It seems we may be doomed to relive that past with the prospect of worse via Trump.

Th following graphic is noteworthy for a number of reasons, the least of which is the message it imparts. It shows growing dissatisfaction with Trump's leadership after the 2016 General elections. The poll is particularly germane as it was conducted over a four week period among potential respondents who are considered "rural."

It is hard to imagine talk of seven more years of Trump if the poll is accurate. But, let's not end with the chart; let's visit with the Reuters's piece and the story of a 70 year old retired banker who, joined many other high end Baby Boomers in their dream of "taking their country back." Reuters linked.

Senate Gift To The Wealthy/Lower Income Death Panel Bill

As we watch the GOP cleverly manipulate themselves through repealing the ACA, the level of their desperation and lack of respect for rational Americans is stupefying.  As is our standard policy, let's take a few reads of what is a literal GOP death panel bill.

CNN's perfectly detailed explanation of how the Senate healthcare bill delivers for the nation's wealth, and at your expense.

National healthcare?

Once we get passed the reality the GOP did not want any form of national healthcare laws, we can look at how they resisted the Affordable Care Act.

First let's stake a place which places the GOP argument of Democrat secrecy in 2009/10 is comparable to the utter secrecy of Mitch McConnell's 13 man top .01% santa clause / lower income death panel.

Is there any wonder McConnell avoided the scrutiny of Ryan's death panel development (and deliberations)? I suggest there should not be.  Yet, we are now hearing that tried and proven effective strategy from the Right of 'deflect,' misinform, lie and then move-on." Have you heard republicans say, the Democrats developed the ACA in like secrecy?

Well, it is simply not true, according to fact finders.
Snopes:

Was the Passage of Obamacare Just as Secretive as GOP Efforts to Repeal It?

False mantra....

CNN five days ago (looking back on 2010)
In 2010, current Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said: "Democrats on Capitol Hill are working behind the scenes on a plan aimed at jamming this massive health spending bill through Congress against the clear wishes of an unsuspecting public."
Trump's Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price, then representing Georgia's 6th Congressional District, said Democrats were "sacrificing the trust of the American people."
With Democrats discussing health care in secret, they're sacrificing the trust of the American people.5:43 PM - 14 Jan 2010

He also told CBS News in 2010: "The negotiations are obviously being done in secret and the American people really just want to know what they are trying to hide."
Oh, how the tables turn.
False mantra aside, let's move back to the Senate Bill.
Last night MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell conducted a set of interviews which bare the Senate's BRCA like a naked butt in below zero temperatures. The segment runs a full ten minutes while laced with commentary and details important to consideration of what the GOP is ramming through the legislature.

We first offer a very short version of, Why I changed my mine on Obamacare.
MSNBC "catastrophic" CBO report

TrumpCare will come to reality, no doubt.  The ultimate question is how will the nation's rational voters vote in the 2018 mid-term elections.

Quick Hit Video: Lawrence O'Donnell's The Last Word

I'll just leave this here without additional comment. Well, I will offer a set of brief comments.

Yes, Trump was again lying.  He is a compulsive liar so we have grown to expect the first comment from Trump: a lie.

We are still awaiting Obama's birth records from Trump's investigative team in Hawaii. Man, those folks must be really enjoying life.

We are still recoiling from Trump's early administration lies about Obama wiretapping Trump Tower.

This week we found Trump in Iowa lying to a bunch of people who obviously relish being told lies.

After 40 plus days of living a lie about tapes regarding his visits with then FBI Director Comey, Trump was forced to come clean.  This lie might really work against Trump as the 45th President of the United States.

Despite the laughter, the applause and supporter sycophancy, Trump is a real and present danger.

The Daily GOP Ignominious: Why Has Trump Never Mentioned Abe Lincoln?

Actually, the title question is rhetorical. Most people know exactly why Trump has never mentioned Abe Lincoln.

Abe Lincoln isn't a historic icon for white nationalist.

No automatic alt text available.

Yes, someone created a caricature of Donald Trump's recent comment about his hero Andrew Jackson and his misguided (well actually, ignorant) remarks about the Civil War. The image about pokes fun at the nation's 45th President while also delivering a poignant statement about Trump's mentality and cognitive processes. The lined paper mocking however is not the too for proper depiction of Trump as a socially regressive racist.

Listen as Trump speaks on a Sirus radio show.

The shame of it all is so engrossing and encompassing. We are forced to guess less and less about Trump's mentality and social paradigm. Since, Trump is known as a non-reader, we may be able to accurately assume he is being coached like a grade school student in revisionist history by noted racist and white supremacists Steve Bannon.

If you have about 10 minutes and didn't see the following segment on MSNBC's The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell, give the segment a viewing.

During a week in which Trump crossed the line of rational acceptability via quasi-praise of Kim Jung Un, the prospect of inviting the Philippine President to the White House and enacting a congratulatory call to Turkeys evolving dictator.

Another consideration, since I was front and center about Trump's inclination an tendencies of his inner circle.

While a far less serous matter than Trumps communication week, it should be noted the latest of Trump's addition to the White House Press corp.

Trump, British INTEL, Russia, Approval Ratings

While the world boils into a cauldron of international conflict (post Trump's inauguration), we must not take our eyes off the reality of growing evidence Trump and his associates may have snuggled with Russian operatives to facilitate wing an election.

Image may contain: 1 person, text

Consider contrasting the following segment of Trump speaking with a well known conservative alleged "money talker", about his visit with the President of China. How seriously callous is the reference to the cake of choice while showing a great deal of machismo?

Now for much more serious updates and commentary on a matter which is headed straight towards probable impeachment of the nation's 45th President. There is simply no way to avoid the reality of the fire under maelstrom of the Trump/Russia smoke.

Rachel Maddow, The Rachel Maddow Show. (long segment but information doesn't come quick nor cheap) Moreover, think of the millions who watch Fox News on a nightly basis with bombardments of unreported facts, misinformation and does of social deprivation (racism, sexism, Homophobia al)

While that major story broke across certain broadcast media, MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell also broadcast a segment with reference to the British reports of Trup cohorts cohorting with Russian operatives. The O;Donnell take is intriguing and cannot be overlooked as to its possibility.

Another long commentary segment, but the segment includes two subject experts worthy of the viewing time.

If you don't care for MSNBC, here is a segment from CNN.

Yes, Trump is saber-rattling while doing what the carnival barker does best. The barker presents false reality to secure a path for his mission. In Trump's case the mission is multifaceted. He also must cover the developing Russian stories with "wag-the-dog" false reality, and he facilitates opportunity to raise his approval ratings.

Steve King Racism/White Supremacy: Call It For What It Is; Dangerous

White Supremacy
noun

the belief that white people are superior to those of all other races, especially the black race, and should therefore dominate society.
______________________

Yesterday, we along with many social media and national media sources posted or broadcast regarding over the top racism from Steve King of Iowa. Here is the piece from yesterday (if you did not view the post), linked. The piece serves as a back story for our choice to post a news segment with Cristina Beltran, director of Latino Studies at New York University official who spoke frankly about the dangers of such racism.

The following MSNBC,The Last Word, segment is a necessary exposition regarding the overwhelming racism inherent in Iowa's Congressman Steve King.

The warnings are ever-present.

Yer, it seems the White House isn't at all concerned:

The Daily GOP Ignominious: The Nation's 45TH President Is Hiding Something

122 vicious prisoners, released by the Obama Administration from Gitmo, have returned to the
battlefield. Just another terrible decision!

____________________________________________________

After the early Saturday morning tweet regarding claims of former president Obama having ordered wiretaps of Trump's NYC Tower Trump also levied another bold lie before leaving Mar-A-Lago. Before we move to a Fact Check dot org review of the tweet just above, take another read of how Trump feeds his minions. It should be noted some media are reporting on this latest tweet along with mentioning both Bannon and Priebus were not at Mar0A-Lago over the weekend.

Oh, when the cat is away the mice (child) will play.

Fact Check dot org allows reposting of its reviews. We are going to opt for a full reprint of the following piece due to the impressive detail of the author's review.

Robert Farley writes:

Trump’s False Gitmo Blame

President Donald Trump wrongly tweeted that “122 vicious prisoners, released by the Obama Administration from Gitmo, have returned to the battlefield.” Actually, it’s only nine former detainees. The other 113 were released under President George W. Bush.
122 vicious prisoners, released by the Obama Administration from Gitmo, have returned to the battlefield. Just another terrible decision!
The president’s March 7 tweet came just a half hour after “Fox & Friends” tweeted a Fox News story about a prisoner released by President Obama from the Guantanamo Bay detention facility who was killed recently by a U.S. airstrike. The tweet noted that “122 former Gitmo detainees have re-engaged in terrorism,” a point also made in the news story.

Former Gitmo detainee killed by a U.S. airstrike in Yemen; at least 122 former Gitmo detainees have re-engaged in terrorism
The Fox News segment reported that U.S, airstrikes in Yemen killed Yasir al Silmi, who the New York Times noted went by the name Mohammed Tahar while at Guantanamo, according to military records. According to The Long War Journal, al Silmi was detained at Gitmo because he was suspected of being part of a group that was “planning to use explosives against Americans in Afghanistan.”
Although he was recommended for “transfer out of [Department of Defense] control” in 2007, that assessment was reversed in 2008, according to a leaked intelligence document that stated it had been that determined al Silmi was a “high risk” as he is “likely to pose a threat to the US, its interests and allies.”
“It is assessed detainee [al Silmi] will engage in extremist activities upon release,” the 2008 report states. “He has threatened GTMO personnel and continues to support jihad.”
Nonetheless, after a comprehensive review of Gitmo detainees by the Obama administration, al Silmi was transferred from Gitmo to Yemen on Dec. 19, 2009.
According to the New York Times, al Silmi “was among a small group the Obama administration repatriated in December 2009 as part of an experiment.” However, the Timesreported, after the attempted bombing of a plane headed for Detroit by al Qaeda’s Yemen branch, Obama “halted further repatriations to Yemen.”
The Fox News segment posted on the “Fox & Friends” Twitter page on March 7 concluded with the announcer stating, “122 prisoners released from Gitmo have returned to the battlefield.” A graphic highlighted the same statistic.
That’s true. But Trump took the  extra step of assigning all of those releases to Obama. And that’s simply false.
According to the government’s latest “Summary of Reengagement of Detainees Formerly Held at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba,” the vast majority of the released Gitmo detainees who were “confirmed of reengaging”  — 113 of the 122 — were released or transferred out of Gitmo by President Bush.
Obama had transferred 161 Gitmo detainees as of July 15, 2016. Of those, nine were “confirmed of reengaging” in terrorist activities and another 11 were “suspected of reengaging.”
This is not the first time the Trump administration has wrongly assigned Obama blame for detainees released by Bush.
On Feb. 22, we wrote, Sebastian Gorka, a deputy assistant to the president, wrongly suggested that a released Guantanamo Bay detainee responsible for a recent suicide bombing in Iraq was released by Obama. He was transferred from Gitmo in 2004 under President Bush. Gorka also wrongly claimed that among detainees released by Obama, “almost half the time, they returned to the battlefield.” According to the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, about 12.4 percent of those transferred from Gitmo under Obama are either confirmed or suspected of reengaging.
As we noted then, most of the former Gitmo detainees who are now suspected or confirmed to have reengaged were transferred or released under President Bush. Bush transferred a higher number of detainees — 532 compared to 161 under Obama — and they have been reengaging (or are suspected of reengaging) at a higher rate — 35 percent  compared to 12.4 percent under Obama. That may change over time, but those were the percentages as of last July.
Update, March 7: The Director of National Intelligence on March 7 published updated figures, as of Jan. 15, 2017, for reengagement of detainees formerly held at Guantanamo Bay. The figures now show 121 former Gitmo detainees “confirmed of reengaging,” 113 of whom were transferred or released by President Bush, and eight by Obama. That’s one less under Obama and one less total from the July 15, 2016, figures we cite in our story.
Update No. 2, March 7: White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer was asked at a press briefing if Trump would offer a correction to the tweet. Spicer said: “I mean, obviously the president meant in totality the number that had been released on the battlefield — that have been released from Gitmo since — since individuals have been released. So that is — that is correct.”
Share The Facts
Donald Trump
President of the United States

“122 vicious prisoners, released by the Obama Administration from Gitmo, have returned to the battlefield.”

While we are convinced Donald trump has seen his most productive cognitive years, his current acts lean to our perception Trump is most definitely hiding something. We also recognize the man is pathological liar, but most such liars are generally much more adroit at constructing and promulgating their lies. Trump is firing-off lies like a double barrelled shotgun with no reason or rational thoughts behind the lies. As one newscaster stated yesterday afternoon, he seems to be awakening each morning with the focused purpose of influencing the daily news cycle.

MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell drew upon his experience as a staffer in the US Senate to develop a poignant segment regarding the dangers of Trump's lies for the nation and for the nation's 45th President.
