Mario Piperni Headlines Liz Cheney As "Quitter"

As we were about to head to the keyboard regarding the "QUIT" as a candidate for the US Senate, Mario Piperni blasted our email boxes with a piece that we simply cannot add additional value.

We will comment in one regard.  If you seriously believe the reason given for Cheney's decision not to run, I invite you for a few hands of Poker.

Question.  Do you really believe Liz Cheney would have dropped her quest for he Senate seat had she been a head in the pols by a wide margin?

Cry For Me, Wyoming

Cheney Dicks Unlimited-2 mariopiperni.com/

This was predictable.

Liz Cheney said in a statement early Monday morning that her decision to abruptly end her Senate campaign was prompted by health concerns in her family.

“Serious health issues have recently arisen in our family, and under the circumstances, I have decided to discontinue my campaign. My children and their futures were the motivation for our campaign and their health and well-being will always be my overriding priority,” she said in the statement.

Once back-stabbing, bigoted, sister-hating, power-hungry Liz gets past the BS excuse of health issues for her failed campaign, she’ll turn to the old conservative standby, aka Plan B – blame the biased liberal media for her miserable performance in Wisconsin Wyoming.

The only unfortunate outcome of this vile little person’s decision to quit is that we won’t get to watch Cheney getting trounced in the Republican primary.

Obamacare = Apartheid

Santorum - apartheid = obamacare : http://mariopiperni.com/
I don’t know what made Rick Santorum the disgusting human being he’s become, but whatever it is, it’s really messed up this ignorant fool big time. Is there any need to explain why the apartheid/ACA comparison is beyond stupid?

What can you say about a man who compares racism and oppression to a law that makes health insurance affordable to millions of uninsured Americans? I feel for this guy’s family and whomever else he has influence over.

Right-wing garbage at its worst.

Mario Piperni and "Preparation GOP"

A Happy ObamaCares Story

Conservatism - America's Suppository of Wisdom : http://mariopiperni.com/
TPM posted a a great ACA story from one of its readers.
I’ve an Obamacare story – a happy one! – I thought I’d share with you, because I suspect I’m representative of a demographic that’s not getting a lot of ink.
I’ve bought health insurance on the individual market for a decade. Since 2007, when my youngest was born, I’ve had the same BC&BS policy to cover the whole family (me, wife, two kids, no major health issues). It’s roughly equivalent to a silver plan, albeit a fairly tarnished silver—no maternity, for instance—and it’s more than doubled in the past six years, from $684 a month in ’07 to $1,457 now. Our plan is grandfathered, so we could keep it, a fact BC&BS reminded us of in a cheery mailer. If we did nothing, we’d be rolled over on January 1 with a new premium of $1,549 a month for our same silvery plan.
Or we could go through the exchange (which, in fairness, BC&BS did mention in that same mailer).Because I live in the North Carolina—currently run by dicks—that meant using healthcare.gov. Yes, it was frustrating for a couple of months; and, yes, the system is still glitchy (I had to reapply a bunch of times because it kept telling me my 8-year-old wasn’t eligible). But I got through the entire process yesterday, and enrolled us in a BC&BS platinum plan that includes dental for the kids and caps my out-of-pocket at $3,000 a year. Without a subsidy, that plan goes for $1,280 a month—almost $300 cheaper than my current, crappier insurance with the same goddamned company. With the subsidy, it drops to $770.Once I factor in the lower co-pays, the dental, and the far cheaper premiums, I’m going to save at least $12,000 this year. No, that’s not quite right: I’m probably going to spend most of it, maybe replace our 12-year-old bed or my 13-year-old car or our 20-year-old washing machine—all things we’ve put off for years while we shoveled money to those skimming middlemen. I can’t believe my situation is unique, so multiply me by a few million individual-market serfs and that’s an enormous amount of money that’s going to start circulating through the productive economy.
Of course, I could have saved more with a silver plan, but I’d rather over-insure if I can afford it. And I still want single-payer. But this is a colossal relief for the time being.

And yet a political party that professes to love its country is doing all it can to make sure that this guy and tens of millions like him go back to paying higher premiums for crappy policies or, worse, go uninsured. This is why you never want a government “run by dicks.”

Marip Piperni And The GOP End To Racism!

Re-blog from Mario Piperni Dot Com.

Rosa Parks, Racism and The Modern GOP

Rosa Parks - http://mariopiperni.com/

Glad to see the RNC being called out on their idiotic Rosa Parks tweet for their suggestion that racism has ended.

03-12-2013 3-54-33 PM

Oh, okay.

Nothing to be shocked or surprised at here. It’s business as usual for a political party whose very existence is based on being able to attract America’s entire lot of racists and bigots. As was clear during the Trayvon Martin uproar, the GOP operates on the premise that racism is a thing of the past…or, at the very least, this is what they’d like their mindless sheep to believe is true. If there’s no racism to speak of in America, then every bigoted racist move they pull (e.g. voter ID laws that target black Americans, Confederate flags at Tea Party rallies, birtherism…) can’t be racism, can it now? Pure bullshit, of course, as Ron Rosenbaum explains in a 2012 Slate piece.

I’m not saying all Republicans are racist. I’m saying that as a party, ever since Goldwater and Nixon concocted the benighted, openly racist “Southern Strategy” in the ’60s, the Republican Party has profited from overt and covert racism.
The Southern Strategy was designed to capitalize on Southern white resentment of court-enforced busing to end school desegregation, of the 1964 Civil Rights Act’s prohibition of discrimination in interstate commerce, of enforcement of the 1965 Voting Rights Act to prevent historically racist Southern counties and states from discriminating against blacks who sought to exercise their right to vote where once they’d been effectively barred. By playing on these issues, Nixon and other Republicans of this era won many traditionally Democratic votes in the South. Later, GOP opposition to affirmative action, race-based hiring “quotas” and all other methods of compensating for the debilitating legacy of slavery, Jim Crow and segregation fed into what was one of the momentous shifts, a total turnaround in just more than a decade (1970 to 1984) from a solidly Democratic South to a solidly Republican one.
Which is how the RNC tweet like the one above came to be.
The first truth is that this staffer, whoever it was, in all likelihood made this slip for a reason. She or he has been schooled to believe that racism did end, and that all present-day discussion of the problem is just whining from society’s takers. We might call this a central tenet of the right, although the word tenet dignifies it too much. It’s more like a fact-free conviction, held by people who are never capable of imagining walking a hundred yards, let alone a mile, in another person’s shoes.
Whoever this tweeter was, s/he has been hearing the refrain since the day s/he got into the game. Yes, there was racism, and it was wrong. But racism, she’d have been tutored to believe, was a Democratic problem (check that; a Democrat problem, her tutors would undoubtedly have said). She’d have heard all about how it was really Republican Sen. Everett Dirksen who passed the civil-rights bill (which is like saying the Serbs defeated the Nazis—they were on the right side, but they hardly carried the heavy artillery). She’d have been instructed to repeat “Party of Lincoln!” at the necessary intervals, and she’d have been coached in the phony, euphemistic language that Republicans use to acknowledge certain past sins but to press forward, sunnily noting that all of that is “behind us.”
[...] It’s amazing that it’s been six decades since Rosa Parks did what she did, and there hasn’t been one prominent national Republican leader who has said simply: “We were wrong. We, the white people of the South, the evangelicals, George Wallace’s famous beauticians and firemen, the beating heart of today’s GOP—we were wrong.” I’d like to see that tweet come out of the RNC, but I’m not holding my breath.
You want something else not to hold your breath hoping it’ll ever happen?
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Bob Dylan said:
This country is just too fucked up about color. … People at each other’s throats because they are of a different color. It’s the height of insanity, and it will hold any nation back—or any neighborhood back. … It’s a country founded on the backs of slaves. … If slavery had been given up in a more peaceful way, America would be far ahead today.
Yes: “A country founded on the backs of slaves.” And a party cravenly unashamed to base its existence on the backs of slaveholder states. Journalists, start telling the truth about the GOP.

NeoCon Motto According To Mario Piperni

Re-Blog from Mario Piperni Dot Com. "War, What Is It Good For?"

Neocon Motto: You Can’t Ever Have Too Much Blood On Your Hands

John Bolton Reacts to Iran Deal : http://mariopiperni.com/
Nothing short of another war in the Middle East will satisfy the bloodthirsty needs of John Bolton and his neocon cronies.
On the November 25 edition of Fox’s America’s News HQ, Former Ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton criticized the deal as ”abject surrender” to the Iranians. Bolton claimed sanctions “were never going to stop Iran from getting nuclear weapons anyway” because” sanctions need to be administered by a living breathing president,” and in Bolton’s mind, Obama isn’t capable of success on this front. Bolton added that we must accept one of two propositions; a nuclear Iran, or support Israeli airstrikes.
Kristol, Krauthammer and the rest of the usual suspects are all saying the same, more or less. No degree of diplomacy on the part of President Obama will satisfy the chickenhawks because their only option in dealing with Iran (and every other foreign policy issue) is annihilation.
As for John Bolton, there has never been a war he did not love…as long, of course, as he was not personally involved.
Bolton supported the Vietnam War but enlisted in the Maryland Army National Guard to avoid being sent overseas, and consequently did not serve in Vietnam. He wrote in his Yale 25th reunion book “I confess I had no desire to die in a Southeast Asian rice paddy.
These people make it so easy to despise them in every way possible.

McCain 2016? Say it ain’t so

John McCain - angry old man : http://mariopiperni.com/
Do some people really want this guy to take another run at the White House?
Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said over the weekend that he’s getting lots of pressure to run for president again, but that “it’s not on my radar.”
And off the radar is where it should stay. But if he changes his mind, well…
Back in 2008 question was whether McCain would lose to Obama or Hillary. If he runs again in 2016, we'll know the answer is: both.

Mario Piperni: Cookies and Lesbianism

Re-Blog from Mario Piperni Dot Com...

Cookies and Lesbianism – The Link Exposed

Crazy - http://mariopiperni.com/
I’ll bet that few of us would ever think that there existed a direct link between cookies and lesbians. There is and thanks to Religious Right activist and all-around crazy person, Kevin Swanson, we now know.
The individualism of feminism has been devastating to this country. I’d say you ought to say no to the Girl Scout cookies too. I don’t want to support lesbianism, I don’t want to support Planned Parenthood and I don’t want to support abortion, and if that be the case I’m not buying Girl Scout cookies.
…I don’t want to promote a wicked organization that according to its own website doesn’t promote godly womanhood, it just doesn’t, I don’t see anything that promotes godly womanhood. The vision of the Girl Scouts of America is antithetical to a biblical vision for womanhood, it’s antithetical to it.
Please, I beg of you, do not buy Girl Scout cookies. Please, I beg of you, stop buying Girl Scout cookies. And if you do, take a big black magic marker and cross out all of the references to Girl Scouts of America on all of the signs and all of the boxes because we do not want to promote that organization.
Delusional? Definitely, but there’s more because no proper attack from a right-wing loon inflicted with conspiratorial madness is ever complete without referencing the black guy in the White House. Here’s a statement from Swanson where he creates a fascinating thread which links lesbians, girl scouts, apple pie, Obama, Chevrolet, communism, feminism and cookies. Glenn Beck would be so proud.
I think we understand why Barack Obama is President of the United States. He is incredibly popular with single women, incredibly popular. In fact, if you want a communist in the White House in the year 2020 you have got to get more daughters raised with the worldview, the independent mindset, the worldview that is presented by the Girl Scouts of America. We’re going to go to the Girl Scouts of America because if you talk about Chevrolet, apple pie and America, if you want to talk about what America is all about, you’re talking about the Girl Scouts. These people show up every year about this time of year selling their cookies outside of the grocery stores across America.
They’re all quite psychotic, you know…but very, very entertaining, don’t you find?
So, if homophobia, ignorance and hate happen to be your thing, then – for the sake of Chevrolet, apple pie and all that is good in America – the crazy people beg of you, do not buy Girl Scout cookies.

Mario Piperni......Ted Cruz And The Losing Right!

Re-Blog from Mario Piperni Dot Com...I simply love this!

How Stupid Does Ted Cruz Think His Supporters Are?

Ted Cruz - barrow quote : http://mariopiperni.com/
Pencil in Josh Barrow as another young, smart conservative fighting an uphill battle to save the Republican party from itself. His argument is a simple one: anti-intellectualism is killing the GOP. And in return for stating what is obvious to anyone not living in the bubble, Barrow has been vilified by conservative media as a liberal-loving turncoat. Life in the Tea Party/Ted Cruz era of ignorance tends to do that sort of thing to good people. Especially to conservatives who happen to be gay and willing to speak outside of the Fox News/Hate Radio echo chamber
This morning, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz (R) spoke to the Values Voters Summit, and his speech was really weird. It’s like he’s living on another planet.
On Planet Cruz, there is a massive outpouring of public support for a government shutdown over Obamacare and it’s scaring the hell out of Democrats.
Meanwhile, back on planet earth, the public hates the shutdown, Americans are 20 points more likely to blame Republicans for the shutdown than Obama, the Republican Party is scoring its worst poll numbers on record, Cruz’s colleagues in the House and Senate hate him, and they’re preparing to cave to the president by reopening the government and funding Obamacare.
Cruz is betting that his supporters are too stupid to notice that his strategy is failing and was doomed to fail. He’s probably right.
What’s unprecedented about Cruz and similar Tea Party Republicans who make up about a third of the House Republican conference is that the aggrieved localized minority has gone national.Republicans once thought Fox News and the conservative media bubble were strategic advantages that allowed them to coordinate messages and organize voters; instead, they have allowed Republican voters to remain unaware that their favorite politicians are lying to them and alienating the median voter.
Living in a bubble can sustain one for only so long. We might very well be witnessing the death throes of the Republican party as we know it.

Mario Piperni: Conservative Leadership

Re-Blog......Mario Piperni digs deep!

Most Conservative Leaders Will Never Understand

Upton Sinclair quote - Conservatives : http://mariopiperni.com/
Sinclair has it right. I would also add that the understanding is even harder to come by when the people involved are, for the most part, suffering from a personality disorder that “manifests itself in such traits as dishonesty, charm, manipulation, narcissism, and a lack of both remorse and impulse control.”
That’s right – sociopathic behavior.
Which is why these conservatives and their minions…
O’Reilly, Beck, Hannity, Malkin, Ailes, Limbaugh, Inhofe, Savage, Cruz, Drudge, Paul, Palin, Levin, Will, Rove, Krauthammer, Coulter and many others
will never understand…
health care, poverty, climate change, middle class issues, fair taxation, gun control, immigration, marriage equality or women’s issues.
Never.

Mario Piperni and " I Have A Dream."

Re-blogged from Mario Piperni Dot Com

‘I Have A Dream’ 50 Years Later

Martin Luther King - Dream : http://mariopiperni.com/

One hundred years after Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation and 50 years after Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” speech, the conservative wing of the Supreme Court saw it fitting to strike down key components of the Voting Rights Act which enabled the Republican Party to move forward on legislation which suppresses the black vote. Also, as Trayvon Martin’s parents know only too well, 50 years after King spoke of his dream, every child in America is still not judged on the content of their character alone.

That said, 50 years later, and in spite of the best efforts of the bigots and haters, the president of the United States is a black man serving out his second term. After 150 years of freedom and 50 years of civil rights, the struggle continues but there is no denying that King’s dream is more real today than it’s ever been.

Mario Piperni: Death by Skin!

Re-post from Marion Piperni Dot Com..... (A good place to hangout. Comments for this thread are a must read.)

You Can Get Killed Just For Living In Your American Skin

White-Justice-in-America http://mariopiperni.com/
Is anyone the least bit surprised by the not guilty verdict in the Zimmerman trial?
This one had as likely an outcome as any trial you’ll ever witness. White man stalks and shoots an unarmed black kid in a southern state which has a Stand Your Ground law. It took police 44 days to arrest Zimmerman and the jury was made up of 5 white women and one Hispanic. What did you expect? A conviction?
It wasn’t going to happen…not in America.
Anyone who believes that race was not a crucial factor in this case needs to ask themselves a single question. If the skin color of the shooter and victim were reversed, is there any doubt that Zimmerman would have been arrested at the crime scene and later convicted of murder?
Moral of this story: if you have the makings of a wannabe cop who enjoys playing the role of vigilante and gunning down innocent black teenagers, check the color of your skin. The proper shade of pale will keep you out of prison.
UPDATE
I was watching Joy Reid on MSNBC speaking of her son and her concerns on his safety living as a black man in America. It reminded me of Springsteen’s American Skin which tells the story of Amadou Diallo who was killed in 1999 by four New York City plainclothes policeman who fired 41 shots at Diallo. Diallo was 23-years-old, black and unarmed.
Sprinsteen sings of a young black mother telling her son:
…on these streets Charles,  you got to understand the rules. Promise me if an officer stops you’ll always be polite. Never ever run away and promise mama you’ll keep your hands in sight.
It ain’t no secret…you can get killed just for living in your American skin.
Trayvon Martin found out exactly that. He is dead for the single reason that his American skin was black.

Mario Piperni...Scores On Scalia's Hate And Ignorance

As Scalia Knows, Hate Needs To Be Carefully Taught

Antonin Scalia - hate-and-ignorance : http://mariopiperni.com/
You’ve got to be taught
To hate and fear,
You’ve got to be taught
From year to year,
It’s got to be drummed
In your dear little ear
You’ve got to be carefully taught.
You’ve got to be taught to be afraid
Of people whose eyes are oddly made,
And people whose skin is a diff’rent shade,
You’ve got to be carefully taught.
You’ve got to be taught before it’s too late,
Before you are six or seven or eight,
To hate all the people your relatives hate,
You’ve got to be carefully taught!
~lyrics from South Pacific’s ‘Carefully Taught’
 Indeed, teach them well.
Almost a month after the Supreme Court’s landmark decisions in favor of marriage equality were handed down, one son of dissenting Justice Antonin Scalia will speak in front of Courage, an organization that believes gays and lesbians should never have sex.
Overshadowed by his father for years, the similarly anti-gay opinions of Scalia’s son Paul, however, are beginning to attract attention as well. An important tenet of the younger Scalia’s position on homosexuality is his belief that being gay is not an immutable characteristic or identity.
In 2005, Scalia espoused this view in an article for the magazine First Things, where he warned about high school clubs that encourage tolerance of homosexuality, and readily label themselves or others “gay” or “homosexual.”
“[Labels] presume that a person is his inclinations or attractions; he is a ‘gay’ or is a ‘homosexual,’” Paul Scalia wrote. “At some point adults have to admit that a fifteen-year-old who claims to be ‘a questioning transgendered bisexual’ is really just confused.”
Scalia’s general thought process is perhaps best summed up, however, in a 2012 article written for Humanum: Issues in Family, Culture & Science.
“In short, we should not predicate ‘homosexual’ of any person. That does a disservice to the dignity of the human person by collapsing personhood into sexual inclinations,” Scalia writes. “Indeed, the Church is still trying to find the right vocabulary to speak about this modern phenomenon … Either our sexuality is oriented in a certain direction (i.e. toward the one-flesh union of marriage), or it is not. We cannot speak of more than one sexual ‘orientation’ any more than we can think of the sun rising in more than one place (i.e. the orient).”
As one person noted, the bigot did not fall far from the tree.

MARIO PIPERNI: " Who Needs Immigrants....?"

Re posted from Mario Piperni Dot Com

Who Needs Immigrants When You Can Breed Your Own Voters

Bryan Fischer - Dick-of-the-Day : http://mariopiperni.com/

Sad day for liberals. The jig is up.

As much as liberals wanted to conceal the real reason they felt so strongly about immigration reform, they simply weren’t smart enough to outfox the likes of Bryan ‘Sherlock‘ Fischer of the American Family Association. Fischer revealed to his listeners the true motive behind liberals’ attempt at comprehensive immigration reform.

Conservatives are just outbreeding liberals and that’s a huge problem for liberals…because there’s just going to be more conservatives…10, 20 years down the road, they’re just going to be outnumbered. And that’s why they are so dedicated to amnesty.

We are breeding our own voters. We are conceiving our own voters. They’ve got to import them. They’re not producing them so they’ve got to import them. So, that’s why they’re so enamored with illegal aliens and amnesty for them is they’ve got to find some way to get these people on the voter rolls to just maintain numerical parity with conservatives.

Great point! Conceiving is always preferable to importing and as always another astute analysis by a conservative.

I need to ask again: why do conservatives get all the smart ones? Palin, Beck, Gohmert, Bachmann, Bush, Perry, Cain – the list goes on and on and on…

Mario Piperni: White Minority (GOP A Need For Change?)

A must read from Mario Piperni......(see  below)

During the early 1990s a case of severe police brutality was caught on video tape by a person in a nearby apartment who happened to  possess a video camera (and kept it at the ready).

There is a notable quote that came out of the brutality and later rioting in Los Angeles.  The quote does not lay blame for the disturbing beating the guy suffered at the hand of four LAPD officers.  His comments were aimed at quelling the rioting and also aimed at people who harbor ill-will towards a people simply based in skin color (black and white; it cuts both ways).

"Can we all get along?" -Rodney King (1965 - 2012, accidental drowning)

Mario Piperni posits on recently released data related to a country that is demographically changing regarding race and ethnicity. Implied in Pipern's eloquent piece; change must take place, it is inevitable, why not work the change to the good of the nation vs. obtuse resistance. While not necessary for the piece, we also know that demographically the nation is changing regarding age groupings and generational considerations. Boomers are moving to the "Seniors" category and each generation below the boomers are moving up in age and generational groupings. Why do we allow the past attitudes regarding social interaction and socially based politics continue to chip away at the "greater good society?" Resistance to demographic change as Mario states "White Minority" is futile. Why are we not pushing aside those who relish a regression to our oppressive past?

"Will numbers of this sort bring Republicans and conservatives to their senses?"

Let's read how Mario views the topic.
_________________________

Becoming a White Minority
JUNE 13, 2013 BY
Republican Teaparty Elephant - http://mariopiperni.com/
Not a good time to be the party of xenophobes and delusional frauds.
For the first time, America’s racial and ethnic minorities now make up about half of the under-5 age group, the government said Thursday. It’s a historic shift that shows how young people are at the forefront of sweeping changes by race and class.
The new census estimates, a snapshot of the U.S. population as of July 2012, comes a year after the Census Bureau reported that whites had fallen to a minority among babies. Fueled by immigration and high rates of birth, particularly among Hispanics, racial and ethnic minorities are now growing more rapidly in numbers than whites.
Based on current rates of growth, whites in the under-5 group are expected to tip to a minority this year or next, Thomas Mesenbourg, the Census Bureau’s acting director, said.
The government also projects that in five years, minorities will make up more than half of children under 18. Not long after, the total U.S. white population will begin an inexorable decline in absolute numbers, due to aging baby boomers.
Will numbers of this sort bring conservatives and Republicans to their senses and finally have them embrace comprehensive immigration reform? No, of course not. Teahadists will only dig their heels in and increase the decibel level of their screeching and opposition to any commonsense reform.

As we’ve come to learn, these sad little people don’t react well to numbers that don’t match up to their preconceived notion of reality.
