The Trump's On Memorial Day

Do you recall when Memorial Day was a day of commemoration, pride, and heartfelt reflection?

Well, let's visit the Trumps.

How about "Happy Memorial Day?" Linked piece.

Memorial Day..a day to show respect and live for those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. Trump used the day to self-aggrandize while (within the week) peppering lies(A, B, C) to the Naval Academy graduates class.  Self-aggrandizing doesn't work for you and you think, I am being harsh? Trump's Twitter Memorial Day Twitter.

Geroge W. Bush offered the following.

“On Memorial Day we honor, we remember, we mourn, and we give thanks to those soldiers, sailors, Marines, airmen and Coast Guardsmen who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country, and for each of us..”— Col. @MiguelHoweMSI via @dallasnews
Barack Obama offered his respects.

We can never truly repay the debt we owe our fallen heroes. But we can remember them, honor their sacrifice, and affirm in our own lives those enduring ideals of justice, equality, and opportunity for which generations of Americans have given that last full measure of devotion.

The shame from the White House never ceases.

What about his wife? Well, what does she do when the time comes to step up in her role of the nation's First Lady. She reaches back to find eloquence and notable quotes from her predecessors...and simply copies the remarks.

flotusOn #MemorialDay we honor the many Americans who laid down their lives for our great country. As one nation under God, we come together to remember that freedom isn’t free. Thank you to all the service members & their families who sacrifice so much to keep us safe. 🇺🇸
Very nice words, eh?

Why Do We Have Trump? Who Voted For Trump? Look At The Mess!

New poll reveals who voted, who didn't, and why in the 2016 Presidential Election:

Let's take a quick look at how your GOP House Of Representative literally celebrated the prospect of excluding 23 million Americans of any medical coverage over the next ten years.

A sickening aspect of Trump/Ryan repeal of the ACA is the reality of less of life's well-being for the elderly in nursing homes, children, pregnant women and the mentally and physically disabled.

A moment of pathetic from a pathetic man who 49 million non-voting Americans placed in the White House.

Honoring Our Past Protectors

National Anthem at Arlington National Cemetery Memorial Day is a somber remembrance ceremony. Do you think someone in the White House could have told 45 his Don King (former boxing promoter) like fake reverence for the cameras should have been avoided?

Why does he always remind of a lost child?

National Education via and Education Terrorist?
DeVoss carries the Trump/Pence elitist bias Dept. of Education purse.

This is beyond Hypocrisy. This is over the topic authoritarianism with clear efforts to mind shape with total malfeasance. "Anonymous sources" as sources of evil? OK, well, what about that early morning tweet?

It is called espionage!

Former CIA Director John McLaughlan recently told MSNBC's The Last Word Lawrence O'Donnell:
'I don’t want to overstate this because obviously there is a lot we don’t know - we don’t know the exact content of the conversation. We don't know the objective that was a part of the conversation - those things we don't know

'But I can't keep out of my mind the thought that, if an American intelligence officer had done anything like this, we'd consider it espionage.'

Memorial Day...Was There Ever A More Noble Cause?

If I could only know his name...

African-American Union soldier and his family.

They served and I have no knowledge of a draft to fight.

The Meaning of the Fourth of July

First a word about Memorial Day.....

After researching and writing about the origin of  Memorial Day, I will admit to finding historical origins to national holidays has turned into a fascination for me.

My knowledge of the origin of Memorial Day escaped me through the entirety of my life. An astounding fact for one who prides himself in absorbing as much information as the 24 hour day permits.

I was astounded to find that Memorial Day was first celebrated as former slaves visited a southern grave yard to honor Union soldiers who died fighting in the Civil War. The day was first called Decoration Day as the former slaves took items to the grave yard to make the graves look more attractive and befitting the honors of the died soldiers.  The Progressive Influence (linked article) The First Memorial Day (dead Union soldiers honored by freed slaves)

The Origin of the Fourth of July far supersedes Decoration Day, but I it may not supersede relative to actual celebration.  The history is not at my fingertips, but I doubt the national celebration was formally established prior to the Civil War ending Decoration Day, or, I should say not the level of celebration we experience over the past 200 hundred years.

The following is from Guest Writer Marion Young.....

Black folk are steep in American traditions and celebrations. To see the flag being burned can be disturbing to many. However, it is the only safe form of outrage and dissent to the gross injustices done to so many. Listen to what Frederick Douglass had to say about the 4th of July.
