A Trump Smorgasbord (The Week That Was)

Our smorgasbord starts with Trump in Ohio.

If what you are about to witness doesn't remind of Third Reich stadium oratory, you really should brush up on the history of the World Wars.

Inappropriate Politics

As the week progressed, so did Trump's exhibitions of a mind which is far off from stable. How bout that Boys Scouts Jamboree?

The Boys Scouts of America almost immediately enacted a strategy of rationale for Trump's appearance. We should have anticipated a day later, an apology for Trump's politicizing the Jamboree would be forthcoming.

A public apology for Trump's behavior from The Chief Scout Executive for the Boy Scouts of America.

Michael Surbaugh  statement linked.
"I want to extend my sincere apologies to those in our Scouting family who were offended by the political rhetoric that was inserted into the jamboree,"

Scouting Family,
In the last two weeks, we have celebrated the best of Scouting at our 20th National Jamboree with nearly 40,000 participants, volunteers, staff and visitors. The 2017 National Jamboree has showcased and furthered the Scouting mission by combining adventure and leadership development to give youth life-changing experiences. Scouts from Alaska met Scouts from Alabama; Scouts from New Mexico met those from New York, and American youth met youth from 59 other countries.
Over the course of ten days, Scouts have taken part in adventures, learned new skills, made new and lasting friendships and completed over 200 community service projects that offered 100,000 hours of service to the community by young men and women eager to do the right thing for the right reasons.
These character-building experiences have not diminished in recent days at the jamboree – Scouts have continued to trade patches, climb rock walls, and share stories about the day’s adventures. But for our Scouting family at home not able to see these real moments of Scouting, we know the past few days have been overshadowed by the remarks offered by the President of the United States.
I want to extend my sincere apologies to those in our Scouting family who were offended by the political rhetoric that was inserted into the jamboree. That was never our intent. The invitation for the sitting U.S. President to visit the National Jamboree is a long-standing tradition that has been extended to the leader of our nation that has had a Jamboree during his term since 1937. It is in no way an endorsement of any person, party or policies. For years, people have called upon us to take a position on political issues, and we have steadfastly remained non-partisan and refused to comment on political matters. We sincerely regret that politics were inserted into the Scouting program.
While we live in a challenging time in a country divided along political lines, the focus of Scouting remains the same today as every day.
Trustworthiness, loyalty, kindness and bravery are just a few of the admirable traits Scouts aspire to develop – in fact, they make up the Scout Oath and Scout Law.
As part of our program’s duty to country, we teach youth to become active citizens, to participate in their government, respect the variety of perspectives and to stand up for individual rights.
Few will argue the importance of teaching values and responsibility to our youth — not only right from wrong, but specific positive values such as fairness, courage, honor and respect for others.
For all of the adventure we provide youth such as hiking, camping and zip-lining, those activities actually serve as proven pathways and opportunities to develop leadership skills and become people of character.
In a time when differences seem to separate our country, we hope the true spirit of Scouting will empower our next generation of leaders to bring people together to do good in the world.
Yours in Scouting,
Mike

Sexual Orientation

Since Trump guided the media coverage this week via a blindside attack on the LGBTQ comunirty, it is only fitting we add a piece from last night's The Daily Show, with Trevor Noah.

Yes, America we have a problem.

The Daily GOP Ignominious: Trump "The Shame"

Image result for trump shameless The shame!

How about a quick video laced reminder of exactly what the nation placed in the White House. While Trump is doing all he can to keep his Russia/Putin troubles out of the media, his desperation is only surpassed by the level of contempt he imparts to rational Americans.

Let's start with a quick exhibition of why he should seriously avoid issues which require any level of cognitive reliance on reality.

ObamaCare for 17 years?  Really.

Seventeen years?

Now for the nascent White House communications chief who should more have the title of Chief Derriere Cleaner

Scaramucci shows extraordinary skills at derriere cleansing.

Football through a tire?

Trump continues his strong preference for entertaining crowds. Why not; he is the supreme carnival barker shelling out pure lies to get you to purchase a ticket to go in the carnival tent. Ever notice after you realize you have been ripped-off and the freak in the tent is laden with false props and makeup and isn't a real Snake woman, you run back outside to retrieve your money...and he is gone. Yes, the life of the carnival barker.

In Ohio and clear signs of a diseased mind selling snake oil.

While among the horde of supporters, Trump declared himself the most presidential of presidents in US History (other than Abe Lincoln).

The man has to be a psychiatrist and psychologist dream case.

If a person has to go before a supportive audience and declares himself
best of all, it shows deep rooted inadequacy with a need for support for sycophants.

After a night of what might have included a few minutes of sleep, what does the erratic one do?  He jumps on his cell phone and tweets out an anti LGBTQ reversal of Barack Obama's "right to serve openly policy."

How about the sudden LGBTQ shift. I suggest it is a smokescreen to distract from his current sets of Administration killing woes.

The man is as sad a carnival barker as we have witnessed over the course of our lives.

Thank you to the LGBT community! I will fight for you while Hillary brings in more people that will threaten your freedoms and beliefs.

"Hillary Clinton can never claim to be a friend of the gay community as long as she continues to support immigration policies that bring Islamic extremists into our country and who suppress women, gays and anyone else who doesn't share their views or values," Trump said, criticizing Clinton's call for the U.S. to accept more Syrian refugees.
"She can't have it both ways. She can't claim to be supportive of these communities while trying to increase the number of people coming in who want to oppress these same communities," he added.
Clinton is widely supported by the LGBT community and supports policies that would expand civil rights protections. She expressed solidarity with the community during a speech Monday in Cleveland.
"I want to say this to all the LGBT people grieving today in Florida and across our country," she said. "You have millions of allies who will always have your back. And I am one of them."
