Trump Gives The World's Catholics Vatican Ambassador Mrs Newt Gingrich

Callista Gingrich Remarkably Life-Like At Vatican Confirmation Hearing

OMG, Elon Musk was right. Artificial intelligence will kill us all. I guess Donald Trump thought it would be real funny and a great way to tell off that commie Pope Francis, if he appointed Newt Gingrich's sex robot as ambassador to the Vatican. This answer she gave at her confirmation hearing this morning is exactly…

Conservative Media Reaches In The Gutter For Irrational Sustenance

Conservative media so disrespects its viewers and readers.

Conservatives Spread Lie That Obama Was Late To Meet Pope, Work Selves Into Frenzy

Just moments after Pope Francis landed in D.C. and was greeted by the president, right-wing media was already being sent into an irrational rage spiral over something that never happened. According to conservative outlets, President Obama had been late to greet the pope, and made his airplane circle around the airport helplessly while the affront to the Catholic leader grew worse by the minute. It’s easy to see why the story got conservatives salivating; it re-affirms all of their preconceived notions about Obama: He’s “classless,” he’s rude, he’s narcissistic.

Here’s conservative garbage dumb Breitbart breathlessly explaining Obama’s tardiness:
As Pope Francis’s plane approached the landing strip at Joint Base Andrews, the pilots were asked to wait to land, perhaps because President Obama hadn’t arrived yet to welcome him.
And Breitbart’s little brother, the Daily Caller, blasted a headline that was even more to the point:
Pope Francis’ Plane Circled In The Air Because Obama Was Late
The story, however, was complete and utter bullshit.

The pope’s plane did circle over the airport a few times, but that wasn’t because Obama overslept. Instead, the holding pattern was a routine maneuver because Francis’ plane had actually arrived early. As the Atlantic noted (after first irresponsibly speculating about Obama’s delay):
In an earlier version of this note, I reported that the reason the plane started circling was that Obama and Biden had been running late to the greeting ceremony. However, as a White House spokesman subsequently pointed out, the Pope deplaned at 4 p.m., precisely as scheduled, and the president was on hand to greet him.
Press notes record Obama meeting the pope at the steps of his plane at… 4:05 pm. His flight had been “delayed” by 5 minutes and Obama had nothing to do with it.

Despite the issue of timing being cleared up in a matter of minutes, conservative media outlets have spread the lie around with reckless abandon. Neither the Daily Caller nor Breitbart bothered to correct their mistakes (although Breitbart edited their article to soften the accusation and hoped no one would notice). Other conservative websites have since published their own versions, despite now knowing with absolute certainty that this is, in fact, a blatant lie. WND, a right-wing conspiracy site, ran with the story this morning, and noted within that while the article’s own headline was probably false, it seems like something Obama would do so spreading the lie was justified.
The story of Obama’s lateness may have gained quick traction in the press in part because of his rather lengthy record of etiquette offenses on the national and global platforms.
This from a site that once claimed it had good evidence that Obama once married a Pakistani guy he met in college…

As we’ve seen time-and-again – remember the “latte salute” faux-scandal? – conservatives hold such an irrational, directional hatred of President Obama that any story, true or false, that helps them justify it to themselves gets major traction in the right-wing media. Better to cling to a false story that lets them stay perpetually angry than grapple with a reality that makes them look like blustering idiots. And with so much rage in their hearts, is it any wonder that the ability to experience a sense of shame was the first thing to go?

Fox News Anti-Pope Quick Hit

President Obama and Pope Francis (2014)

While this is a mere quick hit video of Fox New's welcoming the Pope to the United States, I must point out one major insanity.

Brian Kilmeade, in the video, reads a script that dares to mention Trickle-down Economics. Can you share a case where Trickle-down Reaganomics has benefited you and your family?

TPI Morning Gazette: Confederate Flag, SCOTUS, Pope Francis, Jeb Bush, Trump

  Non-Progressive News

Reports are going viral regarding George W. Bush charging $100,000 to speak to a group of wounded and disabled vets.

We should be so happy, Snopes reports Bush lowered hid fee from $250,000.

We at the TPI will not celebrate the lowering the Confederate Flag. The flag is a mere symbol and it took the racist slaying of nine innocent African-American prayer worshipers as impetus to remove the flag.

SCOTUS...your generational stack highest court of the land.

SCALIA AND GANG WANT MORE MERCURY IN THE AIR WE BREATHE — The Supreme Court on Monday ruled against an Environmental Protection Agency regulation limiting mercury and other toxic emissions from power plants, undermining the Obama administration's drive to cut pollution from electricity generators. Corporate butt-kisser, Justice Antonin Scalia agreed with Republicans that the EPA's attempts to limit carcinogens like mercury constitute a "war on coal." When your children ask you some day why you didn't do more to save our planet, show them a photo of Scalia and tell them he was a whore for the Money Lords and Oligarchs, preferring to do their bidding rather than save the people from the horrible pollutants that the EPA was tasked by Congress to remove from our air and water. Same for the other Gang of Five members of the SCOTUS. The link to the story is in my first comment.

While Trump's numbers increase, he has taken a big chuck of voters away from many Republicans that were leading in the polls. Marco Rubio who? Remember him? LOL he thought he was on his way to winning the republican ticket? LOL...rememeber Walker? LOL Walker who? The best thing that could have ever happened to Democrats is The Republican party. In comparison, Republicans consume 90% of all political news in the media. Democrats are not even campaigning. They haven't even started and Republicans just on their own have put themselves way behind Hillary Clinton. The more they talk the better Hillary's numbers look. At last count Hillary would beat Jeb by 10% and the rest by 15%.

Jeb  Bush works  to appeal to his major constituents: big business plutocrats industrialist. Americans need to work longer into life via more legislative change to allow more hours work per week (Without OT Pay). He also strongly feels the Social Security eligibility age should be raised to 68 or 70 years of age.  Do you think the Bush multi-millionaire cares one iota that actuarial tables show the African-American male lives few years beyond age 70.

Such BS.

The former steelyard worker says "NO" to Jeb Bush's campaign ploy.  The Kochs and American Industrialist would love to rid the nation of Over-time pay; American workers must fightback with focused resistance. Do you recall before Eric Cantor espousing the elimination of over-time pay before he was his  unceremonious election  uprooting  from his comfy House Majority position. Cantor's Koch brothers supportive lie was eliminate over-time pay so that parents can spend more time with the family. Bush has thrown out the fake family mantra with his less than empathetic approach to US labor and the working people of the nation.

In regards to longer working hours, I have the definition of it .
I am one year younger than Jeb Bush, I am age 61. I retired from a steel mill here in Indiana after 41 years of service. Within the last 10 years of my work there and at the time of retirement, I was working 7 day work weeks through an entire calendar year and the only time I actually had off was during my 5 weeks vacation.
During the weekends I worked most of the time I worked a 16 shift to start the week of my next shift. I worked afternoons and midnight's. I seen times where I worked back to back 16 hour shifts during the same work week. Try working a midnight to a day turn 16 hour shift . I did this on several occasions, I would drive home from the plant which was 23 miles one way, I would pull into my driveway and I couldn't remember how I even got there. My dad held down two jobs as I was growing up. I didn't see much of him. All those hours he worked took a real serious toll on his health.
At age 72 he suffered a mild heart attack. He ended up with 30% heart damage. He ended up having a 6 by pass heart surgery. Eight years later he died in his basement when his heart stopped, he fell asleep in a chair in his basement as he was folding clean laundry. Everyone, this is what's known as longer working hours. I worked a total of 224 hours in one month. My statistics are backed up by my pay role statements from my bank through direct deposit. I would love for Jeb Bush to make this statement to me face to face. I will give him the same definition of longer working hours. Longer working hours with parents means alienation of their children. This type of alienation is not a far fetched fantasy, it's known as the clear fact of relationship between parents and their children. Does Jeb Bush really know what he is talking about? ABSOLUTELY NOT !

Immigration Ugliness!

A Papal View

"This humanitarian emergency requires, as a first urgent measure, these children be welcomed and protected. These measures, however, will not be sufficient, unless they are accompanied by policies that inform people about the dangers of such a journey and, above all, that promote development in their countries of origin." Pope Francis. Vatican Radio

Huntington Post on Pope Francis and Central American migration to the US.

Pope Francis: Immigrant Children Must Be 'Welcomed And Protected'

While Pope Francis delivered his message, Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin spoke at Mexico's Foreign Relations Secretariat and urged clergy and foreign ministers to protect young migrants.
"Whether they travel for reasons of poverty, violence or the hope of uniting with families on the other side of the border," Parolin said, "it is urgent to protect and assist them, because their frailty is greater and they're defenseless, they're at the mercy of any abuse or misfortune."

A Jon Stewart, Daily Show, expose'

And, a CNN segment that lays the ugliness out for all to see.

CNN host Carol Costello tackled once shameful exhibition of Americanism gone mad. The nine plus minute segment includes not only background on the Pinal County Arizona citizens protest, Costello secured an interview with the local sheriff. Sheriff Paul Babeu, was reported to have informed activist groups of the pending bus journey to a relief center.

These people are naive, this is America

We as a nation can rest assured people who are seeking to escape the horrors of their homelands, will not be welcomed in most US communities.

Wonder why we did not see the same level of disgust, chants of "USA, USA, USA" and ugly protest as the US migrated thousands for Eastern European wars and associated genocide?

Income Inequality, Tax Policy, Trickle-down And "Let Them Eat Cake"

It is time for a topic that simply doesn't lend itself to a really quick read. We recognize and understand most readers have grown to abhor long reads. Acknowledged, with this retort.

Would you acknowledge the American people voted to elect George W. Bush and Dick Cheney twice? How about your personal recall of NSA/AT&T communication monitoring as far back as 2006? Are surprised and dismayed about recent revelations from the Veterans Administration? The American public has a short-term paradigm as slippery as the slope of a single edged razor blade. If we do not recall "Trickle-down economics" and the clear fact the GOP has permanent roots in that fail economic policy, you are a danger to the greater society.

You may be a candidate to vote Republican in coming elections.

In 2007, Bush economic policy, lack of regulation and overlying GOP supply-side economic policy brought an end to the to the message from this chart: The US economic collapse  (Bush Great Recession) hit in December 2007.
The chart is a well known depiction income inequality since Trickle-down  (Supply-side) policy, from the Reagan Administration, took firm hold on a nation. The chart became uber popular after President Obama mentioned the growth of income disparity in a 2013 speech.  Evidence of how Reagan Economic policy has (via design) benefited the nation's top income earners was as stark as the corollary reality of the vast majority who are flat-lined.

Of much more significance, is the extent to which Americans do not know how Trickle-down has relegated the middle class to a horizon-like growth flat-line. After the aforementioned comments from Obama, a Tampa Bay Times, Politifact, reader fired-off a question about the veracity of Obama's statement. Alas, the reader's failure to believe the president led to a well published "TRUE" finding from Politifact.

The reality is, most of us get our news from television. When can you recall hearing and seeing the words "Income-Inequality" from cable news networks of the than MSNBC. Once, Ali Velshi was no longer broadcast on CNN, the network has gone cold on income inequality (almost as cold as it has frozen up on climate change.....excuse the pun). And, we certainly cannot expect Fox News to mention income inequality in any manner other than this.....

Bill O'Reilly takes up the castle like
moating for the wealthy via lecturing
Fox News Co-host Megyn Kelly.
"It’s worse now since 1920, according to the stats,” Kelly responded. She added that both parties agree on that point and that Democrats have been able to campaign on the issue.
“You’re buying into this fraud, Kelly, and I’m very disappointed,” O’Reilly shot back. "So, listen to the master here."

"The master?"
What is it about your psyche that would find such elitism and condensing behavior not only palatable, but preferred viewing? An answer to the question isn't necessary, as I and any regular reader of the TPI considered the question rhetorical. Two plus minutes of income inequality indifference and facilitation fit for archiving by any oligarch who desires to grip a nation.
Can you imagine tuning-in each evening as a viewer of O'Reilly's "The Factor?"

Fortunately, there are very powerful people among us who not only recognize the long-term danger of a nation (world) deeply separated  via economic strata. Much more important, they speak-out.

Do you sometimes wonder why Pope Francis is vilified by right-wing media? I posit, because Pope Francis recognizes the dehumanizing world of growing dystopia

In April, Pope Francis tweeted, “Inequality is the root of social evil.”

Head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) also knows the danger inherent in the growing divide. The IMF lends money to underdeveloped nations.

Christine LaGarde, the head of the International Monetary Fund  “One of the leading economic stories of our time is rising income inequality and the dark shadow it casts across the global economy,”

President Obama joins both leaders with proper attention to the problem and he does so from a befitting level in US governance: the Presidency. During his State of the Union Address this past January, Obama spoke at length, eloquently and effectively about growing inequality.

Barack H. Obama, 44th President of the United States of America                                                                                                                           .....But we know that people’s frustrations run deeper than these most recent political battles.  Their frustration is rooted in their own daily battles -- to make ends meet, to pay for college, buy a home, save for retirement.  It’s rooted in the nagging sense that no matter how hard they work, the deck is stacked against them.  And it’s rooted in the fear that their kids won’t be better off than they were.  They may not follow the constant back-and-forth in Washington or all the policy details, but they experience in a very personal way the relentless, decades-long trend that I want to spend some time talking about today.  And that is a dangerous and growing inequality and lack of upward mobility that has jeopardized middle-class America’s basic bargain -- that if you work hard, you have a chance to get ahead.
I believe this is the defining challenge of our time:  Making sure our economy works for every working American.  It’s why I ran for President.  It was at the center of last year’s campaign.  It drives everything I do in this office.  And I know I’ve raised this issue before, and some will ask why I raise the issue again right now.  I do it because the outcomes of the debates we’re having right now -- whether it’s health care, or the budget, or reforming our housing and financial systems -- all these things will have real, practical implications for every American.  And I am convinced that the decisions we make on these issues over the next few years will determine whether or not our children will grow up in an America where opportunity is real.

The Right regards Obama's concern for income inequality contemptible (to keep it clean), but Obama will not be found guilty of misprision regarding income inequality.

Bill Moyers and Company reported within the past 84 hours, IMF Chief LaGarde's comments about addressing inequity.

What to do about growing income disparity around the world? The IMF chief suggested countries implement “redistributive” measures, including expanded access to education and health care, increased property taxes and more progressive tax systems.
"...a more progressive tax system."

I ask, what one fiscal item has been at the forefront of Obama policy since his first term inauguration? The Bush tax cuts. What fiscal issue from the Right has been forefront in all matters of economic policy? Moating in resistance to raising taxes for the nation's wealthy.

I have linked the May 30th, 2014 Moyers and Company piece, here. I have posted a couple of few graphics from the piece for those who do not have time or interest in visiting the site.
The richest 10 percent of people in the world hold 86 percent of the world’s wealth and just 0.7 percent own 41 percent of global riches, according to the Credit Suisse 2013 Global Wealth Report. The bottom half of all adults in the world own just one percent of global wealth:

The global wealth pyramid (Mother Jones chart)
Here’s what the very top of that pyramid looks like. About 100,000 people have more than $50 million:
The apex of the wealth pyramid (MotherJones chart)
In 24 of the 26 countries where the IMF collects income data, the wealthiest one percent has increased its share of income over the past three decades.
The political Right is stuck on keeping taxes as low as taxes can exist. GOP politicians continue to strive towards cutting human services programs and enacting other austerity measures with contempt for passing even meager taxes increase to the nation's wealthy.

Paul Ryan's 2015 Budget (in brief) not only ignores growing income inequality, the budget offers yet another high income earner tax cut slap in our face .

Income inequality is a threat to the health of the nation as surely as former GOP economic policy laid us all bare to the ravages of Bush Great Recession.

How does tax policy look from the Center for Bugdet Policy Priorities (CBPP)?  What follows is a report form this past April 15th, (Tax Day). It provides information that supports consideration of "burying" Bush Tax Polity, yet the piece was written with full acknowledgment the rich pay much more federal taxes.  As is always the case CBPP does not address the fact many of our uber high income earners staffs copious pre-tax dollars is oversea tax shelters. Credit Suissie admits widespread sheltering.
