Pruitt: Fired? Of Course...

  Quick Hit: Firing Validation

A bit of validation to the obvious. Scott Pruitt's departure from his perch as head of the EPA was the result of a phone call firing.

CNN Guest Contributor's Ridiculous Scott Pruitt Defense

Our piece has a primary focus on how one conservative CNN contributor handled his time on air during Pruitt's Congressional hearing appearances of yesterday.  We find it truly amazing the extent to which conservative paid talking-heads follow scripts which seem to be developed overnight and as timely as necessary for addressing the daily blunders and Keystone Copish nature of the Trump Administration. I personally heard the phrase "character assassination" twice on yesterday.

Before we probe the CNN segment, consider a bit of background on Pruitt's days in office. Consider visiting the Media Matters page for a more detailed review of what some consider scandalous or potentially scandalous (and as a minimum abuse of office).

Trump's EPA Head, Scott Pruitt, is under heavy scrutiny due to what many rational Americans would consider abuse of office, abuse of power and violations of ethics (while in office).

One week ago Media Matters published a detailed list of Pruitt scandals since taking office. As the EPA head has been in office less than two years, the list is almost unbelievable and seems to have a very active archiving life cycle; it continues to grow through last week.

A few examples include:
  • February 24, 2017, KOKH: Pruitt lied to senators about his use of a private email account.
  • May 17, 2017, ThinkProgress: An EPA appointee appeared to violate Trump's ethics order on lobbyists.
  • June 16, 2017, Bloomberg: Pruitt met with oil executives at Trump’s D.C. hotel, then backed away from a regulation on oil companies.
  • September 26, 2017, Wash. Post: Pruitt spent about $43,000 on a private soundproof booth, violating federal spending law.
  • September 27, 2017, Wash. Post: Pruitt spent $58,000 on charter and military flights.
  • February 11, 2018, Wash. Post: Pruitt spent $90,000 on first-class flights and other travel in a single week.
  • February 13, 2018, CBS News: Pruitt flew luxury business class on a foreign airline.
  • March 6, 2018, Wash. Post: EPA awarded a bug-sweeping contract to a business associate of Pruitt’s head of security.
  • March 28, 2018, Politico: EPA signs research agreement with firm tied to GOP megadonor Sheldon Adelson.
  • March 29, 2018, ABC News/Bloomberg: Pruitt paid below-market rent for a condo co-owned by the wife of an energy lobbyist
  • March 30, 2018, CNN: Taxpayers paid for Pruitt’s 24/7 security detail during his personal trips to Disneyland and the Rose Bowl.
  • April 3, 2018, The Atlantic: The White House told Pruitt he could not give two of his closest aides a pay raise, but he used a loophole to do it anyway.
  • April 5, 2018, CBS News: Pruitt asked to use vehicle siren during non-emergency, reassigned staffer who objected.
  • April 6 and 9, 2018, Wash. Post/The Atlantic: Doubts cast on Pruitt’s claim that he did not approve controversial pay raises
  • April 21, 2018, NY Times: Pruitt’s partners in ethically questionable behavior in Oklahoma now work for him at EPA.
Pruitt spent the majority of today in two hearings before members of Congress. While one hearing was void of representatives from the GOP, media reports Democrats grilled him as if he stole their office desk chairs.

As the day unfolded CNN covered the Pruitt sandals and today's hearings. Network producers followed their broadcast model via bookinga liberal contributor and a conservative contributor, Stephen Moore and liberal contributor Joan Walsh, for remote commentary with Erin Burnett. From the beginning of the segment (introductions), Moore appeared a bit uneasy and well different than his frequent early interview smiles and grins. His mission was twofold and he knew Donald Trump was watching the show while consuming a Diet Coke. While I am certainly well versed in the day's talking points, he went about his mission with the courage of the most dedicated of propagandists. The mission: defend Pruitt via focusing on Pruitt as an innocent victim of a liberal smear campaign while deflecting back to the Obama Administration with full-blown false equivalence.

Sadly his mission embodied expectations from the Trump White House and point-counterpoint from CNN producers as a viewer entertainment segment.

Watch and listen as Moore deploys the "character assassination" of Scott Pruitt strategy based on his anti-climate change beliefs and administration. He actually attempted to equate the number (and amount) of Pruitt's finances abuses with a weird (seemingly from the White House) analogy to Obama administration expenditures on climate conferences.
Moore didn't seem to make one point throughout the segment which didn't (via ridiculous examples) seem to offer more shame related to Pruitt's scandals.  It is impossible to explain and excuse the inexcusable.

If you viewed the full interview you witnessed a few examples of a society devolving to ruin via on-camera rationalizing political malfeasance and abuse coupled with a major news network staging predictable ideology segments with no purpose beyond viewer ratings: an advertisers dream.

Good Leadership As Evidence By Staffing ("Hire The Best")

Image result for swamp
If it looks and smells like a swamp, folks it is a swamp.

Staffing the Organization

The effective leadership benefits from and is identified via the quality of her/his executive team choices.

Just before the 2016 General election, CNBC broadcast a Q & A  interview with candidate Trump and John Paulson, funds manager.

Paulson asked a question regarding making the US government more effective: "What would be your criteria for selecting key administrators?" Amongst the many words Trump gave the audience and the television viewers the essence of his comments was: "I would hire the best (paraphrased)."

Scott Pruitt EPA Administrator is the most corrupt cabinet official across the full scope of modern US history.

In mid-March (2018) Media Matters posted a timeline of Pruitt scandals. The following link navigates to the Media Matters piece but keep in mind the piece runs through March 18, 2018.  Over the past month, Pruitt has been the subject of many additional reports of swamp-like scandals. Link here.

Talking Points Memo is reporting Trump has apparently commented the He may not have the "best" with all cabinet heads

As stated above, leadership is accompanied via staffing decisions and the quality of hire.

Trump Swamp Watch: Pruitt Circling Around The Quicksand

The Mashable has just published a list of Trump's number one swamp critter, Scott Pruitt-EPA Head. As we watch daily manifestations of Pruitt's over-the-top abuse of office and appointed privilege, recall Trump promised to rid DC of the swamp.

You should have known Trump is an acquirer and expander; he has expanded abuse of office without equal and his cabinet seems rotten with people who appear to feel the nation owes them a lavish and swamp laden lifestyle.

Last night's Rachel Maddow Show includes a segment worthy of the time it takes to view the segment. Scott Pruitt is an unequal crook who Trump seems to still hold in high regard. The EPA Head is a mantelpiece example of the "swamp" Trump campaigned on flushing out of Washington DC.

The portion of Maddow's segment starts at the 31: 33-minute mark and specific viewing can be stopped at the 25:40-minute mark.  It starts with Pruitt shabbily addressing his sweet $50 per night DC residence.

While we often used video from MSNBC, the in-line with our existential liberalism, it is important to note NBC. MSNBC management broadcast a once per week show which seems out of place with the newsworthy foundation of the network. watch Hugh Hewitt in his glorious ignominious reality.

MSNBC host Stephanie Ruhle hosted the segment with Hewitt and former George W. Bush Ethics Czar, Richard Painter

Trump was forced to replace HHS Head, Tom Price, due to issues related to Executive Branch abuse of charter flights. It is impossible to imagine the scope and depth of Pruitt's scandalous abuse has a long life in Trump's swamp.

As Trump's World Turns: The Golf, The Swamp, The Wall (Video)

If I were in the White House..... (Golf)

The Lie

The Reality

The Realit Carnival Barker

The Dissolving Administration
An example of how crass and insensitive Trump lives his life and how he harbors utter disregard for people. Chris Hayes interviewed the latest victim of Trump's leadership incompetence and his total disrespect for people who make the mistake of working in his "swamp".  The firing of the VA Head.

The Daily BIG Lie

Yesterday Trump precede his Mar-A-Lago Easter Weekend vacation with a campaign-like trip to Ohio. While addressing a group of so-called Union members (and supporters) Trump ran through a veritable grapevine of rhetoric, rants and silliness which have become as common to his life as President of the United States. From rambling rants about ISIS through railing about his call to his friend Roseanne Barr's TV show (the Real Barr as an ass)  and the ratings hit associated with his visit. Of particular interest, Trump grabbed a replacement project of a southern border fence left from the Obama years and claiming the work as the start of his "beautiful" wall. The original fence reaches back to the Clinton Administration and CNN reports a chain link fence on the location dates back tot he 1920s.

Great briefing this afternoon on the start of our Southern Border WALL!

Even for the pathological liar, Trump stretches the imagination. Even more strange: the unfathomable reality of Trump's supporter's acceptance and belief of every word of his carnival barking lies.
