The Sad State Of US Conservatism And Its Impact On Military Readiness

What follows from TPMLIVE exemplifies the sad state of our national psyche. The piece reports on a conservative poling authorities, Rassmusen's, polling results after early May poll among 1,000 "likely voters. 

While the results to do not an overwhelming aversion to Military exercises in home states, it does point to a paranoia that I can only label "dangerous." Where should the U military prepare for events that could manifest across the globe on a moments notice? What happens when the US military finds it is ill prepared for a contingency based on a case of 'real life' planning and related exercises? Is it possible US adversaries like China and Russia meet similar resistance hat is solely based in political expedience?

Allow me to answer the last question.  These people pictured in this town hall meeting would be up in arms about the nation's failure to meet the challenge:

Americans Can't Make Up Their Damn Minds About A Possible Military Takeover

Despite the hell that Texas residents have been raising about the U.S. military's "Jade Helm 15" training exercise and a possible military takeover of the Lone Star state, a poll released Tuesday found 65 percent of likely U.S. voters actually would like to have the military conduct such war games in their home state. 

A survey released by the conservative polling firm Rasmussen found that just 16 percent of likely voters would oppose having military training exercises take place in their state, while 19 percent were undecided. 

Yet 45 percent of likely voters also said that they'd be concerned the government would use military training exercises to exert greater control over some states, according to the survey. 

The Rasmussen survey found that particular concern was partisan: 50 percent of conservatives believed military training exercises would lead to greater federal control of some states. By contrast, 67 percent of liberals and 58 percent of those who identified as moderates said they weren't concerned, according to the survey.

Actor Chuck Norris, who has become a prominent conservative activist, published a column on the conspiracy theory website WND that told readers not to trust what the federal government has been saying about a military training exercise known as Jade Helm 15. Some conspiracy theorists have warned that the exercise, which is set to take place later this year in Texas and six other western states, may lead to a covert takeover of some of those states. THE AGE OF INSANITY IS UPON US — We live in a time when "The Onion" stories are the order of the day. 

You can't make this stuff up. I wondered yesterday, 

"How many stupid people are there in this nation to support the ever growing list of GOP clowns running for president?" 

Obviously a ton of "igits". They are the same people spreading the conspiracy plot in which our president, nearing the end of his term, has ordered federal military forces to invade Texas where dissenters will be placed in camps as President Obama declares a state of emergency and assumes a third term as president. NPR had a big story on it this morning. 

The "dumbassing down" of America is now complete. 

Letting the evangelicals take over the school books and state school boards has finally reaped the bad seeds they've sewn. And it isn't pretty. It has helped create the Age of Insanity in America. 

When will this madness end? When we restore Democrats to both houses of Congress and keep the White House, (through the ballot box, not the bullet box) and replace the fascists on the Supreme Court who sleep with the Koch brothers and other billionaires. That's when. And NOT until then.
