Sen. Tim Scott Is The Only Republican To Sign On To The Anti-Lynching Bill

Pure Republicanism!

I often wonder why African-Americans support the GOP. Yes, I understand the need for some human beings to overstep all rational existence via reaching to differentiate themselves from another group they literally stand as utter fools. In the context of this past that Pother group: happens to be other African-Americans. As I move through the piece it is important to remind readers African-American who claim and affiliate with conservative Amercian refuse to refer to themselves in the commonly accepted vernacular of "African-American." You refer to them as "black" or do not refer to them with any skin color phraseology at all.  well, an ideal state which has not come to be in the US.

A few examples are clear. Clarence Thomas and his confessed hatred of his "blackness' and year after year of disassociation from the black community while so diligently working to associate with the GOP he often makes himself appear pathetic. Another well-known example...

"I am an American. Black. Conservative," he said, punctuating each aspect of his self-identity. "I don't use African-American, because I'm American, I'm black and I'm conservative. I don't like people trying to label me. African- American is socially acceptable for some people, but I am not some people."
While the vast majority of "black" conservatives work to disassociate from African-American it should be noted they to the person claiming the GOP. The next and logical question is why doesn't the GOP work to at as a minimum to offer some degree of support for slam-dunk humane issues?  Before the following segment allow me a moment to answer the question.

First, the part, movement, and conservative America don't give one damn about Americans who are not white. The statement may appear harsh, but the reality is irrefutable. Another consideration is the basic paradigm of the Conservative mind: Ayn Randism and the reality of their "It doesn't affect me" psyche.  On a tertiary basis and probably the most influencing of them all, GOP politician will not go against the underlying core values of their constituents.  If the politician signs on with legislation or measures which only addresses the African-American community, the politician risks the wrath of all things conservative among their constituents. Basically, and in much more simple terms. Give the constituents what they want and avoid that which would raise their eyebrows.

The need for an anti-lynching bill is a bit perplexing, but still a measure only one GOP Senator supported. The one supporters: Southern Carolina's Tim Scott.

Crooks & Liars

Sen. Tim Scott Is The Only Republican To Sign On To The Anti-Lynching Bill: Sen. Tim Scott could not explain why no other Republican in the Senate is supporting his anti-lynching legislation.

Trump Stumbles On Day One: Conservative Media To Social Media To Blame?

Do you recall Mitt Romney's pre-election 2012 fiasco?

No not that one.

I am not referencing his widely publicized and potential voter shushing 47% comment in Boca Raton, Florida. My reference is to his ill-fated Chrysler plant closing comments during a run through the State of Ohio State. The one of a kind candidate literally stood with a audience in a Chrysler Jeep plant and commented that Chrysler would be closing plants. Major speaking SNAFUs happen.  Why does it seem GOP candidates accomplish Richter Scale 8.5 speech SNAFUs?

As SNAFUs go Donald Trump has given the GOP its immigration quote of the campaign.  His comments about Mexican Immigrants offered yet another glimpse into the inner psyche of some conservatives. The Trump remarks clearly indicate the shallowness of information resources often quoted by GOP candidates.

Mitt Romney garnered the spotlight in the lede section of this piece due his the classic example of information-misuse.

Romney and the Jeep Chrysler

Bloomberg....March 2014
Remember the closing days of the 2012 presidential campaign when Mitt Romney ran that explosive ad suggesting Chrysler was going to stop building Jeeps in Ohio and move production to China? The one that got “Four Pinocchios” from the fact-checker at the Washington Post? The one Romney himself echoed in a speech he delivered near the Jeep plant in Ohio: “I saw a story today that one of the great manufacturers in this state, Jeep, now owned by the Italians, is thinking of moving all production to China.”
Forbes 2012 Chrysler's Sergio Marchionne
“Chrysler Group’s production plans for the Jeep brand have become the focus of public debate.
“I feel obliged to unambiguously restate our position: Jeep production will not be moved from the United States to China.
“North American production is critical to achieving our goal of selling 800,000 Jeep vehicles by 2014. In fact, U.S. production of our Jeep models has nearly tripled (it is expected to be up 185%) since 2009 in order to keep up with global demand.

“We also are investing to improve and expand our entire U.S. operations, including our Jeep facilities. The numbers tell the story:
  • We will invest more than $1.7 billion to develop and produce the next generation Jeep SUV, the successor of the Jeep Liberty — including $500 million directly to tool and expand our Toledo Assembly Complex and will be adding about 1,100 jobs on a second shift by 2013.
  • At our Jefferson North Assembly Plant, where we build the Jeep Grand Cherokee, we have created 2,000 jobs since June 2009 and have invested more than $1.8 billion.
  • In Belvidere, where we build two Jeep models, we have added two shifts since 2009 resulting in an additional 2,600 jobs.
The Atlantic explored the apparent Romney lie and found it to be a bit more complicated. While Chrysler eventually expanded Jeep production in China, the Atlantic piece properly ferreted out the essence of the 2012 campaign fiasco.
This claim got four Pinocchios and was later named PolitiFact's 2012 "Lie of the Year":
It was a lie told in the critical state of Ohio in the final days of a close campaign -- that Jeep was moving its U.S. production to China. It originated with a conservative blogger, who twisted an accurate news story into a falsehood. Then it picked up steam when the Drudge Report ran with it. Even though Jeep's parent company gave a quick and clear denial, Mitt Romney repeated it and his campaign turned it into a TV ad.
At the end of the issue lay the reality of Romney and his campaign teams failure: following the writings of conservative bloggers and  conservative  social media.

It appears Donald Trump may have taken the same wrong turn on the path to SNAFUville. As reported by CNN's Don Lemon, Trump and his staff either misread a Fusion piece or Trump did what Trump often does: embellish for affect.

Trump Completely Misread Fusion Article About Immigration and Rape

by  | 7:43 pm, July 1st, 2015

Donald Trump has never been one to apologize. And at this point, he has doubled, tripled and quadrupled down so hard on his presidential campaign announcement comments characterizing Mexican immigrants as “rapists” that he has no real choice but to find some sort of justification for his blatantly inflammatory words.
The candidate’s latest explanation for why he has been repeatedly calling Mexican immigrants “rapists” came during a preview clip from interview with CNN’s Don Lemon that will air later tonight.
“If you go to Fusion, you will see a story: About 80% of the women coming in — you know who owns Fusion? Univision!” Trump told Lemon. “Go to Fusion and pick up the stories on rape. And it’s unbelievable when you look at what’s going on. So all I’m doing is telling the truth,” Trump told Lemon.
When the host pushed back, noting that the stories concern female immigrants being raped, Trump shot back with this instantly classic quotes. “Well, somebody’s doing the raping, Don! I mean somebody’s doing it!” Trump said. “Who’s doing the raping? Who’s doing the raping?
Watch the clip below, via CNN:
To find the answer to Trump’s question, we can turn to the Fusion article he loves so much. Headlined,Is rape the price to pay for migrant women chasing the American Dream?” the 2014 piece, written by Erin Siegal McIntyre and Deborah Bonello, found that “a staggering 80 percent of Central American girls and women crossing Mexico en route to the United States are raped along the way.” According to Fusion’s reporting, “perpetrators can be coyotes, other migrants, bandits, or even government authorities.”
The article highlights the horrific plight that female migrants face during their journeys north to the United States. The authors quote one lawyer who has worked helping women along the Mexico-Guatemala border as saying, “[These migrants] know the price to pay for getting to the United States. The price is being sexually violated.”
So yes, Donald, “somebody’s doing the raping.” But in his original comments, he explicitly said that Mexico is “sending” these rapists to the United States. “What do you think they’re going to send us their best people, their finest people?” he asked in a follow-up interview. “The answer is no.”
While it’s possible, as the Fusion article reports, that some of these rapes are being committed by fellow migrants, the larger problem they are describing stems from gangs that control territory south of the border forcing women to “pay” for their passage with sex. That does not mean, as Trump has never stopped insisting, that Mexico is somehow sending all of its “rapists” to the United States.
One ironic outcome of this whole saga is the Google results that come up when one searches, for instance, “Mexican rapists.” While that query may have once brought up Fusion’s insightful, nuanced story, now it’s nothing but Trump’s nonsense.

“Black F*ckers” ....."Return To Their Section 8 Housing" .....Mckinney Texas

Whites Only - add Acid
Jim Crow laws proliferated with storm trooper cops to enforce the laws.
OOPs , this one is from South Africa and its heinous Apartheid
Nineteen year old Tatiana Rose, lives in the Mckinney, Texas Craig Ranch neighborhood. Prior to this past weekend Tatiana planned a cookout swim party along with her siblings and went about the business of invitations. Apparently, the hosts invited both white and black teens to the party, without any degree of surprise reports have come forth that obviously "privileged" white woman invited herself over to abolish the revelers.

It seems for some reports the Rose siblings made an egregious mistake. They actually thought they could gather a group of young black friends (and some white friends) for a fun time in America. Moreover, the Roses appear to have planned their fun time at a private residence and not a pubic facility.
Trouble ensued and local Storm Troopers cops were called the location. Trouble ensued?

Let's start with the police report. The always fair and non embellished document police are required to file after an incident.
Pool Party Incident:
On June 5, 2015 at approximately 7:15 p.m., officers from the McKinney Police Department responded to a disturbance at the Craig Ranch North Community Pool. The initial call came in as a disturbance involving multiple juveniles at the location, who do not live in the area or have permission to be there, refusing to leave. McKinney Police received several additional calls related to this incident advising that juveniles were now actively fighting.
Here is how the incident looked again. The video was shot by a 15 year old white kid. Remember the young teen in the colorful bikini is 14 years of age. Who is the accompanying white guy...neighborhood watch guy, black folks patrol?

The 15 year video guy speaks and he speaks not from a bigoted paradigm or the psyche of American conservatism.
This is the beauty of hearing truth from children.

Ms. Rose speaks.

Before we add deep perspective t the incident, let's take a look and read on the dark side: American Conservos who seek every opportunity to speak in support of the cop no matter the level of abuse. Watch for the word "authority." Imagine a few cases of resistant acquiescence to authority. Imagine the Native American First Nation people (head lowered) in total subservience to (authority) manifest destiny, blood thirst American Union cavalry, or greedy land developers Imagine the Warsaw Ghetto Jews quietly shepherding their brethren into rail cars without a fight.

The situation in would not have escalated to what it did, if everyone would have done what they were told to do by authorities.
Hummm. A thug culture of kids without Fathers doesn't understand how to act towards authority. I'm shocked #McKinney— Billy O'Connor (@BillyOConnor18) June 7, 2015

Once again a clip taken out of context to suit the media narrative and to cause more moral outrage
Some visited with the mind altering Fox News

Y doesn't @FoxNews rpt that the teens were trespassing & disturbing the peace prior to the police arriving or Interview residents? #McKinne
Now for a set of details spread among the articles. If you are seeking that typical quick read and do not have interest f reach of the following visit the piece for The Atlantic.

First, visit with CNN and Ashleigh Banfield. The very Banfield who spoke in quasi defense of a cop in another racially charged shooting only to be rebutted by fellow CNN Host Don Lemon. I suspect Banfield's production team found value in approaching the incident from the perspective of.....

Next Keith Boykin wrote a demand read piece for BET. If you prefer articles with little to no frank speak, you should avoid this Commentary: It's Time for White People to Check Themselves After McKinney Incident

The Grio offers the genesis of the incident.

The piece I highly recommend. Excerpts  from The Atlantic.
In 2009, McKinney was forced to settle a lawsuit alleging that it was blocking the development of affordable housing suitable for tenants with Section 8 vouchers in the more affluent western portion of the city. East of Highway 75, according to the lawsuit, McKinney is 49 percent white; to its west, McKinney is 86 percent white. The plaintiffs alleged that the city and its housing authority were “willing to negotiate for and provide low-income housing units in east McKinney, but not west McKinney, which amounts to illegal racial steering.”
All three of the city’s public pools lie to the east of Highway 75. Craig Ranch, where the pool party took place, lies well to its west. BuzzFeed reports that the fight broke out when an adult woman told the teens to go back to “Section 8 housing.”
Craig Ranch North is the oldest residential portion of a 2,200 acre master-planned community. “The neighborhood is made up of single-family homes,” says the developer’s website, “and includes a community center with two pools, a park and a playground.” Private developments like Craig Ranch now routinely include pools, often paid for by dues to homeowners’ associations, and governed by their rules. But that, in itself, represents a remarkable shift.
At their inception, communal swimming pools were public, egalitarian spaces. Most early public pools in America aimed more for hygiene than relaxation, open on alternate days to men and women. In the North, at least, they served bathers without regard for race. But in the 1920s, as public swimming pools proliferated, they became sites of leisure and recreation. Alarmed at the sight of women and men of different races swimming together, public officials moved to impose rigid segregation.
As African Americans fought for desegregation in the 1950s, public pools became frequent battlefields. In Marshall, Texas, for example, in 1957, a young man backed by the NAACP sued to force the integration of a brand-new swimming pool. When the judge made it clear the city would lose, citizens voted 1,758-89 to have the city sell all of its recreational facilities rather than integrate them. The pool was sold to a local Lions’ Club, which was able to operate it as a whites-only private facility.
Whatever took place in McKinney on Friday, it occurred against this backdrop of the privatization of once-public facilities, giving residents the expectation of control over who sunbathes or doggie-paddles alongside them. Even if some of the teens were residents, and others possessed valid guest passes, as some insisted they did, the presence of “multiple juveniles…who do not live in the area” clearly triggered alarm. Several adults at the pool reportedly placed calls to the police. And none of the adult residents shown in the video appeared to manifest concern that the police response had gone too far, nor that its violence was disproportionate to the alleged offense.
To the contrary. Someone placed a sign by the pool on Sunday afternoon. It read, simply: “Thank you McKinney Police for keeping us safe.”
Maybe the CNN reporters will comb through the incident overnight and offer much "no racial component in the incident, why the NAACP." evidence. CNN really should leave such reporting to Fox News and the plethora of conservative AM Radio Talk Show Host. The fair and balanced cable network would have preview a a few more video and the comments from young white kid who took the original video before going after the NAACP.

Of course, I am discounting the penchant for some in the nation to exercise "Privilege." CNN embodies the essence of privilege in this case.

Tom Cotton (R-AR) "WAR HAWK"

And the GOP votes against the majority
of Veteran spending bills.
The following is a brief piece from Crooks And Liars.  Tom Cotton (R-AR) has confirmed he is a over-the-top war hawk. Thus, he confirms himself as a tool for the defense industry.

While Cotton and his political party appear great lovers of war and close friends to the defense industry, one should wonder how family of the members of the US Congress actually go to war. We can only assume that defense contractors executives have relatives who go off to war, but we shouldn't reassured of such.

'Tehran Tom' Cotton Says Americans Don't Mind War As Long As They Win

Everything you need to know about 'Tehran Tom' is in one paragraph of an interview he gave Jeffrey Goldberg of The Atlantic this week. Goldberg: Why do you think your general outlook is so disparaged, even in parts of the Republican Party? I don't mean the Rand Paul wing, even. I mean, I hear from Republicans…

"Self-segregation": A Growing Social Malaise That Can Destroy The Greater Society

Chris Rock 2009, ".......My white friends have one black friend."

The Washington Post in 2009, published the Chris Rock segment as lede to its story about three quarters of white Americans don't have nay non-white friends. Do you have nay non-white friends. I surmise you are at least a progressive or an interested independent (If there is such a being as an independent) as you are reading the TPI

You are probably a liberal who recognizes the disenfranchisement of people due to what could be as minuscule as non-association from exposure to diversity. Yet, your social paradigm and views could fall well away from the open mindedness that often is inherent in liberalism. The hardcore separatist conservative stand on one side of the social spectrum, they stand out there festering in social misery and longing for your naivety and susceptibility. Despite striking the word "separatist," any political movement that nurtures a 92% race and ethnic composition is factually a separatist movement. On the other side of the spectrum are those who strive for exposure to people who they may not have as neighbors, but recognize doing the right thing via social interaction for themselves and their children. Someplace in the middle are those who influence social cohesiveness and are targets of Right-wing media, propaganda and flat out malfeasance.

I like this image from a piece I published in March 2013. After taking the quiz exercise my rating generated the tiny red vertical arrow indicator towards the Far-Left. No surprise there in any sense.  The salient point is the Far-Right and inherent social creep from the right.

If you allow yourself to immerse in the perception of pristine living via aversion to diverse interaction, you are part of the three-quarters delineated in a 2013 Public Religion Research Institute (PRRI) Survey.

From September 21, 2013 through October 3, 2013, the Public Religion Research Institute: AMERICAN VALUES SURVEY 2013 conducted a critically important and relevant survey related to social interaction in America. The survey was conducted among 2,317 adults age 18 and older.

No we are not a color blind nation. I assert we are becoming far more racial divided and racially intolerant than anytime over the past half century. Our interest and concern is not so much where we choose  to reside nor with whom we choose to live. "Self-segregation" relates more to complete ostracizing ourselves from one another once we leave the workplace.  Frankly, hiring practices throughout decades also perpetuates clear segregation in the workplace.

The Atlantic published a piece this past week that is both cogent and poignant regarding our propensity to "self-segregate." With the murder of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri as the central focus of the piece, Robert P. Jones, uses two PRRI studies to support increasing self-segregation.
Clearly white Americans see the broader significance of Michael Brown’s death through radically different lenses than black Americans. There are myriad reasons for this divergence, from political ideologies—which, for example, place different emphases on law and order versus citizens’ rights—to fears based in racist stereotypes of young black men. But the chief obstacle to having an intelligent, or even intelligible, conversation across the racial divide is that on average white Americans live in communities that face far fewer problems and talk mostly to other white people.
A 2012 PRRI survey found that black Americans report higher levels of problems in their communities compared to whites. Black Americans were, on average, nearly 20 percentage points more likely than white Americans to say a range of issues were major problems in their community: lack of good jobs (20 points), lack of opportunities for young people (16 points), lack of funding for public schools (19 points), crime (23 points), and racial tensions (18 points).

Disparities in Reported Community Problems, by Race

Public Religion Research Institute, Race, Class, and Culture Survey, September 2012

These incongruous community contexts certainly set the stage for cultural conflict and misunderstanding, but the paucity of integrated social networks—the places where meaning is attached to experience—amplify and direct these experiences toward different ends. Drawing on techniques from social network analysis, PRRI’s 2013 American Values Survey asked respondents to identify as many as seven people with whom they had discussed important matters in the six months prior to the survey. The results reveal just how segregated white social circles are.
Overall, the social networks of whites are a remarkable 91 percent white.* White American social networks are only one percent black, one percent Hispanic, one percent Asian or Pacific Islander, one percent mixed race, and one percent other race. In fact, fully three-quarters (75 percent) of whites have entirely white social networks without any minority presence. This level of social-network racial homogeneity among whites is significantly higher than among black Americans (65 percent) or Hispanic Americans (46 percent).

Racial and Ethnic Makeup of White Social Networks

PRRI, American Values Survey, 2013

For me, a white man, hearing accounts of how black parents teach their sons to deal with police is difficult to grasp as reality. Jonathan Capehart’s Washington Post column after the Brown shooting contained a personal and poignant account of his mother’s lessons to him as a young black man:
How I shouldn’t run in public, lest I arouse undue suspicion. How I most definitely should not run with anything in my hands, lest anyone think I stole something. The lesson included not talking back to the police, lest you give them a reason to take you to jail—or worse. And I was taught to never, ever leave home without identification.
The message is stark and real. We may not live as far-right separatist under the veil of conservatism, but our increased stretching of the nation's ethno/social fabric poses real and present dangers. Some are living along the path of the bold red semi-horizontal arrow in the political spectrum image above. Their self-segregation is leading to morphing from Moderate to Conservative to Far-Right as surely and dynamically as the effect of a celestial "Black Hole." Morphing exist with inherent insensitivity for those who, like it or not, do not share the same level of societal privilege. Let's explore a basic and visible example.

We have become tolerant of police abuse of minorities; in some circles some relish the abuse. Hence, the multiple hundred thousand dollar slush funds for "gunmen" who kill young black men. Ferguson Police (COP) Darren Wilson's slush fund is reported in the $400,000 range. How pathetic for a cop who literally executed the teenager?

Our careless attention to matters of race and self-segregation facilitate manipulation from the Right as evident over the past three presidential elections. Since the days of Nixon and Reagan we have suffered racial divides that have delivered large geographic and social swaths of the nation to a GOP that promulgates policy against the greater good of those who cast GOP votes. Social votes lead to the 3Ps of GOP governance: Paradigm, Policy and Practice. The reality of the southern strategy vote and GOP policy led to the US economic collapse in 2007/2008. We have yet to fully recover from bad GOP policy possibly supported by your social vote.

Self-segregation feeds GOP policy and strategy. GOP policy ruins our economy and divides us along racial lines. Ultimately, our social idiosyncrasy and susceptibility to political manipulation is as dangerous as threats for foreign enemies. A reality that approaches over-the-top, if we factor growing economic divides like income inequality.

Facebook Used As A Weapon?

During the run-up to an "almost" attack against Syria via the US and what appears as a forming coalition, the amount false and misleading memes and posting from Syrian loyalist operatives was stifling.  I personally recall working to calm the angst of a few Facebook friends who bought into false meme messages, edited video tape and posts that were so ridiculous they appeared insane. Fear is fear and a war weary America was fertile ground and ripe for manipulation.

Apparently, Assad loyalist are very adept at manipulating social media. It appears Facebook is a targeted weapon as indispensable as Assad's past use of chemical weapons.  The following piece from Tech Dirt is based on a The Atlantic article speaks volumes Facebook's Terms of Service. The social networking company policies not only offends millions of progressives in the United States, the policies may also serve one of the world's most undesirable despots.

When Facebook's Terms Of Service Decide What Kind Of 'Speech' Is Okay, Activists Get Silenced (via Techdirt)
The Atlantic is covering the fact that Syrian loyalists have been able to abuse Facebook's "abuse" policy to make various Syrian opposition Facebook pages disappear based on very questionable means. A number of activist pages have simply been wiped…
