The French WIN The World Cup and Trevor Noah Spoke Up

As I viewed celebration pics of the moments the French won the World Cup, I knew issues would ensue.

Well over half the winning team is non-white.  I suspect some one point out the obvious the beauty of a diverse world and its benefits.  I knew such would be delivered with a chiding form of ridicule if the host nation has issues regarding immigrants and race.

I also knew the other side of the issue would take immediate and great exception to any position as I delineated above.

Well, apparently an official on the French government took exception to comments for the Daily Show's Trevor Noah.

The Daily Show's Trevor Noah Does Michelle Wolf

Michelle Wolf's visit to the White House Correspondents Dinner has sparked much discord. If you are liberal, progressive or be to humor you loved it. If you are a thin-skinned conservative or Independent who didn't show one sign of angst about Trumps slandering all who he cared to disparage, you hated Wolf's performance. The performance lasted full 19 plus minutes, I have posted a 3:32-second encapsulated version via the Washington Post.

A Google search yielded far more positive remarks about her performance than negative reactions, but who knows maybe my data trail yielded liberal Google links. The following Comedy Central The Daily Show video is classic: Intelligent, unemotional and poignant...

Norway Vs Brown Countries; A Supremacist Dream (VIDEO)

Image result for racism

During a late week Oval Office discussion of a US immigration and related legal documents and laws, Trump is reported to have gone, pure racist.

Haiti, El Salvador, and African countries
“Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here?”
“Why do we need more Haitians?” Trump is reported to have said, “Take them out.”
Trump's preference immigrants would be from "countries like Norway."

Yes, of course, the Norwegian leader has just completed a visit with Trump.  Nonetheless, are his mental capacity so derided and shallow he couldn't find a better way to feed his base?

Make no mistake, Trump's words were based on a deep inner core of racism and yes, the words have exhilarated white supremacists.

The "go to" website for white supremacist, The Daily Stormer, is celebrating Trump's comments.
"This is encouraging and refreshing, as it indicates Trump is more or less on the same page as us with regards to race and immigration."

If you did not visit the website, do so. Caution, you will find every reason many Americans find the website abhorrent and an indication of the cesspool nature of racism, white supremacy et al.

A Trump Smorgasbord (The Week That Was)

Our smorgasbord starts with Trump in Ohio.

If what you are about to witness doesn't remind of Third Reich stadium oratory, you really should brush up on the history of the World Wars.

Inappropriate Politics

As the week progressed, so did Trump's exhibitions of a mind which is far off from stable. How bout that Boys Scouts Jamboree?

Boys Scouts as political fodder (the Judgment of an Ant)

The Los Angeles Times's Trump Jamboree highlights: link.

CNN's two-minute highlight embed:

More CNN, cringe worthy moments in 90 seconds: link.

The Boys Scouts of America almost immediately enacted a strategy of rationale for Trump's appearance. We should have anticipated a day later, an apology for Trump's politicizing the Jamboree would be forthcoming.

A public apology for Trump's behavior from The Chief Scout Executive for the Boy Scouts of America.

Michael Surbaugh  statement linked.
"I want to extend my sincere apologies to those in our Scouting family who were offended by the political rhetoric that was inserted into the jamboree,"
Read Surbaugh's statement in full below: (Time dot com)
Scouting Family,
In the last two weeks, we have celebrated the best of Scouting at our 20th National Jamboree with nearly 40,000 participants, volunteers, staff and visitors. The 2017 National Jamboree has showcased and furthered the Scouting mission by combining adventure and leadership development to give youth life-changing experiences. Scouts from Alaska met Scouts from Alabama; Scouts from New Mexico met those from New York, and American youth met youth from 59 other countries.
Over the course of ten days, Scouts have taken part in adventures, learned new skills, made new and lasting friendships and completed over 200 community service projects that offered 100,000 hours of service to the community by young men and women eager to do the right thing for the right reasons.
These character-building experiences have not diminished in recent days at the jamboree – Scouts have continued to trade patches, climb rock walls, and share stories about the day’s adventures. But for our Scouting family at home not able to see these real moments of Scouting, we know the past few days have been overshadowed by the remarks offered by the President of the United States.
I want to extend my sincere apologies to those in our Scouting family who were offended by the political rhetoric that was inserted into the jamboree. That was never our intent. The invitation for the sitting U.S. President to visit the National Jamboree is a long-standing tradition that has been extended to the leader of our nation that has had a Jamboree during his term since 1937. It is in no way an endorsement of any person, party or policies. For years, people have called upon us to take a position on political issues, and we have steadfastly remained non-partisan and refused to comment on political matters. We sincerely regret that politics were inserted into the Scouting program.
While we live in a challenging time in a country divided along political lines, the focus of Scouting remains the same today as every day.
Trustworthiness, loyalty, kindness and bravery are just a few of the admirable traits Scouts aspire to develop – in fact, they make up the Scout Oath and Scout Law.
As part of our program’s duty to country, we teach youth to become active citizens, to participate in their government, respect the variety of perspectives and to stand up for individual rights.
Few will argue the importance of teaching values and responsibility to our youth — not only right from wrong, but specific positive values such as fairness, courage, honor and respect for others.
For all of the adventure we provide youth such as hiking, camping and zip-lining, those activities actually serve as proven pathways and opportunities to develop leadership skills and become people of character.
In a time when differences seem to separate our country, we hope the true spirit of Scouting will empower our next generation of leaders to bring people together to do good in the world.
Yours in Scouting,

Sexual Orientation

Since Trump guided the media coverage this week via a blindside attack on the LGBTQ comunirty, it is only fitting we add a piece from last night's The Daily Show, with Trevor Noah.

Yes, America we have a problem.

Video Quick Hit: Trump The Chameleon, Fox News The Coverup, And Reaction From A Former Insider

It is late in the day on Friday, you are about to close off your workstation or office, turn off the PC, and head out to your weekend. WHy not take a peep at a couple of Trumpisms to end the week.

Let's move away from political humor to the reality of a party and a social /political base which has metastasized into a cauldron of deceit, lies, and nation killing "..isms."

Of course, you know Michael Steel is a life long conservative who is a contributor for MSNBC.

Our last post capture noted White House official (past Democrat and Republican administrations) commenting on the Trump Russian Meeting scandal and cover-up.

You know the Trump cabal is crumbling under the weight of its own lies when two Fox News hosts take great exception of Trump unraveling the nation.

Yes, it is ugly.

I am increasingly hearing this: "The cover-up is often worse than the crime."  As we watch the Trump meeting scandal develops we must consider this: "The crime is likely worse than the cover up."

Ben Carson At Popeyes: The Daily Show Touch

Crooks & Liars with The Daily Show's take on Ben Carson's fantasy regarding mass shootings, his over-the-top comments about robbery at Popeyes and Ruppert Murdoch's "real black guy."

The Daily Show Obtains Surveillance Footage Of Ben Carson At Popeyes

As we already discussed here, GOP presidential contender Ben Carson made an appearance on Fox this week, and basically laid out a little fantasy describing how he would react if he were ever confronted by a gunman. The Daily Show's Trevor Noah did a nice job of making a mockery of Carson for his victim blaming…
