Trump Commerce Head Reported To Have Lied Duirng Confirmation Hearing

Image: Wilbur Ross

If by chance you continue to final to consider, or better yet, understand that Donald Trump shepherded a herd of crony "swamp things" into the US federal government you truly live in a closet. Moreover, I am afraid your closet has no door latch.

NBC offers a detailed written piece about yet another example of a Trump appointee who seems to have lied during his Congressional confirmation hearings.

Wilbur Ross, the commerce secretary in the Trump administration, shares business interests with Vladimir Putin’s immediate family, and he failed to clearly disclose those interests when he was being confirmed for his cabinet position.
In June 2017, trump boosted about his aversion to non-wealthy people assisting in running his economy (swamp):

CNBC Trump: 'I just don't want a poor person' running the economy

Has any Trump appointee not lied during a confirmation hearing? I am now wondering if being a profuse and ever-ready liar wasn't a Trump appointee litmus test. Maybe there-in lies his inability orlack of interest in filling many key cabinet positions.

Syria: America"Where For Art Thou". Who Is Pulling the Strings And Where Are We Headed?

It’s great to see more Americans abandoning the false left-right dichotomy all the time. It is nothing but a construction of the corporate media to serve the interests of the wealthy power brokers who fund right-wing think tanks. They control the way Americans think about politics by controlling how it is discussed in the mainstream media and as a result, by most politicians. It is not a contradiction to refer to a “right wing” when arguing to abandon the artificial divide between Americans who consider themselves either liberal or conservative. I am using the term as it was understood by everyone when I was growing up: “Right-wing” at that time was generally recognized to refer to the economic and political elite of nations other than the US.  It is a term that used to be reserved for the ruling class of banana Republics who maintained power by terror alone.  Back then, no American politician would have wanted to claim membership in such a group.

It is useful to think of the spectrum of American political opinions as a circle rather than a line with two ends separated by a shifting middle.  In contrast, a circle is a symbol of continuity. It is a line curved upon itself, with no beginning and no end.  If America ever becomes a democracy, we certainly want it to stay one forever, after all who have died believing they were giving their lives to defend it.  A circle is also a symbol of universality.  In Venn diagrams, it represents the universe of all objects in a given class, such as all Americans or all humans.  That is a fitting symbol of a democratic society, where decisions are made by consensus and every citizen who wants to have a voice is included in the discussion. A circle is also symmetric. The two halves are complementary, like yin and yang.  Both are necessary to form the whole, and neither is entire of itself.  Without appreciating both, one cannot fully conceive of either.  Similarly, in a true democracy all views are considered and openly discussed in order to visualize all possible solutions in the process of achieving consensus on how to move forward together.

As the costs of allowing corporate interests to control the US government continue to multiply and to affect average Americans, the list of issues on which Americans can find common cause continues to grow. It is only a matter of time before pundits still arguing about political ideologies that are nothing more than convenient rhetorical devices realize that no one is listening. Instead, we will be having a real dialogue about practical solutions to issues affecting us. Members of Congress cannot continue to ignore this trend. If they don’t start facing critical issues of common concern to people who regard themselves as being at various points along the political spectrum, they will pay a price. Americans can decide for themselves who will represent them once they recognize and accept that both major parties are in the employ of the corporate interests that fund their campaigns, When they do, they will abandon the myth of the two-Party system and realize that solving the problems threatening the viability of the American experiment in democracy is more important than ideology.  How one wants to describe the system of government will be unimportant if we hand complete control of it to a police state that operates exclusively in the interest of the economic elite.

It was clear from the number of Ron Paul supporters who joined with Green Party partisans in Occupy encampments around the nation that people are seeing through the lies that are used to divide us and thereby keep us incapable of establishing a government of, by and for the People. The biggest issues then were outrage at government inaction against the banksters who destroyed the economy, the unchecked power of the Federal Reserve and the outrageous abuse of American military power to wage wars for corporate Empire that benefited the rich at the cost of the lives of the poor and the wealth of the nation. While Occupy managed to avoid being co opted by any particular view point, it failed to address the fundamental ideological divide that separated the Libertarians from the socialists, although the progressive anarchists tried. It is time now to move beyond amorphous demands for redress of the problems we all agree exist and to the difficult work of having the national dialogue about what we can do to end them together.

Events are conspiring that seem to be leading inevitably to the kind of awakening among average Americans that we have been working for since it became obvious that the Anglo-American Empire is no longer afraid of public opinion in the US or anywhere else. Just as the power of the banks was revealed by the immunity for the crimes they committed that crashed the US and world economy, the threatened assault on Syria is leading to outrage throughout a broad swath of the American public. The lies are so transparent that even the Washington Post began to refer to the "alleged" use of chemical weapons by the Syrian military in a story about the decisive defeat in Parliament of a vote to support an illegal, non-UN sanctioned US attack. The same article describes members of Congress on both sides of the aisle asking questions no one asked Bush in 2001 or 2003.

The fact that members of both parties were involved in the attempt to ram through a war no sane American wants to see makes it obvious that the Iraq lies were not a partisan problem solved by putting a Democrat in the White House. The rot of corruption goes much deeper, and people are starting to see that.  Articles on conservative blogs are attacking the President and his party less often and the issues more, while blogs that often serve as a forum for Democratic apologists are publishing criticism of policies that more often than not come out of the same playbook as his Republican predecessor, such as a blog in the Daily Kos detailing the Congressional demands for consultation and an article in the Huffington Post that points out how deeply unpopular the proposed attack on Syria is.

It is becoming easier to help newly alert citizens to connect the dots that have been obvious to some of us for some time. The furious reaction to the revelations of NSA spying have interrupted the ongoing partisan nonsense of pundits representing the two sides of the corporate Duopoly long enough for them to agree that the abridgment of civil liberties has gone on long enough, prompting even Congress to act. The furor resulted in the near-passage on a bipartisan vote of the Amash amendment that would have restricted NSA spying . Such resistance to Presidential overreach of authority to strip Americans of basic constitutional rights would have been unthinkable even six months ago. It is only a matter of time before Americans collectively grasp the idea that war abroad, economic disaster and suspension of civil liberties at home are all symptoms of the same problem: corporate control of the US government. When they do, they will be ready for the solution.

There is no doubt that corruption of the US government by corporations and wealthy individuals is at the root of the problem. There are many proposals to do something about it, but the one with legs is the movement to pass a constitutional amendment to effectively reform campaign finance and abolish corporate person hood When America has the discussion about why we need such an amendment and what form it should take, we will be ready to elect representatives who are willing to cosponsor and vote for it. If we make our votes conditional on such support irrespective of party, we can make our votes count by electing a Congress that will pass it. This is not going to end corruption in and of itself, but in electing a Congress willing to cut off the corrupting special interest money in elections we will have taken the first step to address the other sources by which they corrupt government.

It is not hard to see that the mood of the country is shifting away from helpless acceptance at the theft of what they have assumed is our democracy. Surely a politician as brilliant as Obama can see it. That raises the interesting question. Is it possible that he knows that we will not “be the change” he told us we have to be in 2008 unless things get so bad that we finally have no choice but to act? Is that why he seems to be doing nothing to counter the trend toward fascism in America? We can always hope that those we have accused of blind faith might have been right in claiming that Obama is playing three-dimensional chess with a bunch of checker players. Only time will tell, and only if the movement to take back America for the People continues to grow.

The Shrinklng US Government And Those Who Refuse Reality

In a piece published earlier today, John Liming via The American Liberal Times reminds us of the shrinking US Government.   Despite constant right-wing rhetoric about "Big Government" and out of control deficits, President Obama presses-on with shrinking government spending and size of government.  An intriguing and revealing reality: Obama doesn't bother to toll his own bell regarding our shrinking federal government.

Before we move this piece to The American Liberal Times, we thought we would add a couple of graphic representation of data that validates our shrinking federal government. There are many more such images.  The data is out there and the Obama Administration knows 'high information' people know the truth. The very sad part of that dynamic, we have 47% of the voting public who are either 'low information' people or they are blinded by American conservatism and do not care about the truth.

Federal Government Is Shrinking Under Obama!

Here is an item that should set some Right Slobs to chewing on their left-over socks!
It seems that despite all the noise and fluff from the far right extreme in American Politics – - the Obama Haters and all the rest of them – - the Federal Government has actually been shrinking in size ever since Obama took office.
Isn’t that kinda like what the righties are always clamoring for?  Isn’t that the ideal all of them aspire to for the country?
If President Obama is shrinking the size of government then what in the Hell are the right-turds who oppose his policies so strongly talking about?  If he is doing what they have always wanted, what is their gripe with him?
Read it and weep, right-wads – -  HERE.

Libertarian Calls For Overthrow Of The US Government! Sedition?

Facts are stubborn things!

Other facts related to efforts to slow the proliferation of guns across the nation include the irrefutable.
Ninety-one percent of survey respondents indicate a desire for background checks for gun purposes.
The US Government (Obama Administration) hasn't uttered one word or offered syllable that indicates a desire to "take your guns."
Some gun facts websites are a bit dated, but the sites offer perspective on the extent and scope of gun ownership and related data. This link provides critical perspective as we consider people who boldly practice sedition against the US government and the American people.
Mother Jones February 27, 2013
Hover over the dots or use the search tool in the top-left corner of the map to go to a specific location. (Zoom in to see the Aurora shooting, located close to other massacres in Colorado, and to see other proximate shootings in Milwaukee, Seattle, and elsewhere.)

Some posit the problem with rising deaths by gun is a matter of a people problem vs a gun problem. I agree with those opinions and remain a gun owner.  However, it is irrefutable the nut case who attacked Congresswoman Gifford, the Tucson Arizona mall shooting, could not have perpetrated the extent of his killing with knife or a bludgeoning weapon. He, factually, could not have killed the nine year old during his spree killing if he only possessed a 9 shot clip for his pistol.

The data speaks for itself and a dangerous and developing scenario as many of the nations guns are owned by people who are influence susceptible regarding their weapons. They may also comprise a large group of people who are mentally inclined to take action based on their susceptibility to propaganda and effective demagogues.

It is unfortunate, but many of those people are politically and socially inclined to the conservative Right. I include many libertarians in the grouping as I strongly feel a libertarian is no more than a conservative who may for some reason not care to be called a conservative.

You are probably aware of one gun-totting anarchist libertarian, Adam Kokesh, called for full-armed protest march on Washington DC. The protest event scheduled for this July 4th has been cancelled. However, it could be useful to reviews how sedition thrives in the United States.

The Progressive Influence introduces Adam Kokesh.

Kokesh's Facebook Page announcement of his ill-fated event.  First, review the nonsense insanity of his (false) event.

"We will march with rifles loaded & slung across our backs to put the government on notice that we will not be intimidated & cower in submission to tyranny. We are marching to mark the high water mark of government & to turn the tide. This will be a non-violent event, unless the government chooses to make it violent. Should we meet physical resistance, we will peacefully turn back, having shown that free people are not welcome in Washington, & returning with the resolve that the politicians, bureaucrats, & enforcers of the federal government will not be welcome in the land of the free."

  • Washington, District of Columbia
  • When a government has repeatedly and deliberately failed to follow its own laws, violated the fundamental human rights of its citizens, threatened the sanctity of a free press, created institutions intended to eliminate privacy of communication, waged war at the behest of special interests that threatens the public safety, killed hundreds of children with drone strikes, imprisoned and destroyed the lives of countless individuals for victimless crimes, stifled economic opportunity to maintain the dominance of the financial elite, stolen from the people through an absurd system of taxation and inflation, sold future generations into debt slavery, and abused its power to suppress political opposition, it is unfit to exist and it becomes the duty of the people to alter or abolish that government by whatever means necessary to secure liberty and ensure peace.

A new American revolution is long overdue. This revolution has been brewing in the hearts and minds of the people for many years, but this Independence Day, it shall take a new form as the American Revolutionary Army will march on each state capital to demand that the governors of these 50 states immediately initiate the process of an orderly dissolution of the federal government through secession and reclamation of federally held property.

Should one whole year pass from this July 4th while the crimes of this government are allowed to continue, we may have passed the point at which non-violent revolution becomes impossible. The time to sit idly by has passed, to remain neutral is to be complicit, just doing your job is not an excuse, and the line in the sand has been drawn between we the people, and the criminals in Washington, DC. While some timid souls will say that it is too early, that we can solve this problem through democratic means provided by government, that current levels of taxation are reasonable for the services provided, and that the crimes of this government are merely a tolerable nuisance; it may already be too late. While there is risk in drastic action, the greater danger lies in allowing this government to continue unchallenged. So if you are content with the status quo, stay home, get fat, watch the fireworks from a safe distance, and allow this Independence Day to pass like any other. But if you see as we see, and feel as we feel, we will see you on the front lines of freedom on July 4th 2013 for this: The Final American Revolution.
The libertarian radio host declared "The Final American Revolution." It looks like Kokesh's march on Washington DC has been cancelled with the anarchist libertarian exhorting complete overthrow of the US Government. We remind you of the definition linked above: sedition.

Think Progress posted a piece on May 29, that sums-up Kokesh and his false revolution.

After the Occupy Wall Street movement was squashed (at least physically removed from public habitation) via efforts of law enforcement including the FBI, is it possible the FBI and the Justice Department are as proactive in dealing with people like Kokesh?

If we are to believe his choice of words Kokesh is an obvious threat to the cohesiveness and sanctity of the nation.  He is a danger not because of the seriousness of his demagoguery  he is dangerous related to kooks who actually believe and adhere to his demagoguery.

If you have read this piece to this point, I have a question. Did you actually believe that Kokesh and his invisible army would actually perpetrate the march?  Another key point, sponsors who sponsor his radio show (if he has sponsors) should take action against his sedition. There is such a thing as enabling. Moreover, there is such a thing as culpability which is far more indicting and damaging for sponsors.

If you planned to attend the protest march, you should probably check status of Kokesh's false event before journeying Washington DC. Of course, after you check-in your firearm (with local police)  you could visit some the Smithsonian, the Capital Building and the White House.  Well, not really, the "sequester' has caused cancellation of White House tours until further notice.

In Remembrance Of A Great Nation..No Not The US

Touch the Clouds
Touching The Clouds - Lakota Nation

The Wounded Knee Massacre took place today in the year 1890 (Just days after one of the the holiest days of the Judeo Christian Faith).

We take time to remember yet another horror of US History.  After decades of fulfillment of US "Manifests Destiny", the US Army was ordered to attack and annihilate one of the last tribes of Native Original People of North America.

This remembrance is not a short read. Neither is the US Constitution.  There are times when a people must look upon their past and recognize that we have history that includes horror that stand alongside some of history's worse (Adolf Hitler, Pol Pot, et al). How many Native Americans were killed during Manifest Destiny?

Yahoo Answers....

How many Native Americans did we kill throughout history?

....that's quite a bit of revisionist history there in one answer. the accidental spread of diseases only accounted for deaths in the first 100 years. the next 400 years showed military campaigns and legislation designed to "do away with the indian problem". these were deliberate acts of genocide including the forced sterilization of our women up until the 1980s, the removal of our children to be given to white families to raise which only stopped in 1973, the stealing of our children and placing them in residential schools where tens of thousands of them were killed and countless others sexually and physically molested. but long as some people can believe we just "dropped dead for no apparent reason" then i guess they can sleep well at night. disgusting.

...the real facts are this: there were between 50 - 100 million indigenous people in north america, pre contact. by 1890 there were only 250,000 natives in USA alone. in all of north america 95% of the native population was killed.

We must also recognize overt genocide against segments of our population may constitutes a history we may never revisit, yet there are elements in our society who wish for absolute power. They want power beyond their extensive wealth, beyond their rights to do things we can only cream about, beyond their insulation from the laws we so very much adhere to, and power to force their will on others. Power corrupts and those same people do not hesitate to practice their powerful privilege.  Privilege that you and I, like it or not (believe it or not) do not share.

To the visitor who insist on leaving comment about our, or my, paranoia, the visitor should be reminded their privilege is only as exhaustive as the powerful will allow. I further direct the critical visitor as follows....
Martin Niemöller, a prominent Protestant pastor who opposed the Nazi regime. He spent the last seven years of Nazi rule in concentration camps. Germany, 1937.

Germany, 1937.Martin Niemöller (1892-1984) was a prominent Protestant pastor who emerged as an outspoken public foe of Adolf Hitler and spent the last seven years of Nazi rule in concentration camps.Niemöller is perhaps best remembered for the quotation:

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out--Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me--and there was no one left to speak for me.
