Touching The Heart, Feeding The Brain and Remembering Sacrifice.

The following is within the realm of our commitment to publishing stories, opinion and information that falls into the realm of  "life experiences that can make life better". we are posting a story intended as a subject for forwarding while delivering that "never forget' life lesson.  The lesson is so important. We see signs that a significant part of the United States would love to regress our society to life as it stood in the early 1950s.  Mitt Romney Cold War utterance regarding Russia was an indication of things to come had he won election. His party, 92% white, also has denizens who would regress to voting restrictions,  a woman's place in society, and no empathy for people who have not reached the falsely perceived security of an economic platform called the middle class.  We are also witnessing a time of utter disrespect for the 44th President of the United States of America and part of the disrespect is frankly based in racial bias, bigotry and flat-out racism.

The Progressive Influence has published pieces over the past two weeks that supports remembrance regarding the Wounded Knee Massacre 1890) and the Emancipation Proclamation. Over the past year, we have posted memorials for the the Holocaust, Decoration Day (Memorial day), WWII, the Viet Nam Wall. We recognize the following is remembrance of the horrors of WWII, German, Russian and other persecutions and attempts to exterminate Jewish people. We must also recognize of the 11 plus million executed by the Third Reich, millions were Gypsies, minorities, and Jehovah Witness.  A proper memorial for Irena Sendler is in order, thus our posting.

The post includes a reference to Nobel Prize winners Barack Obama and Al Gore. While we agree Ms. Sendler  should have great consideration for the Prize, we are not going to join in remarks about Al Gore and President Obama. We strongly suspect Barack Obama was awarded the Prize as  prize to the United States as the first African-American President and his early opposition to the Bush invasion of Iraqi.  To simply label the award as "for his service as a community organizer " is shallow, and not well intended.  Furthermore, Obama himself has alluded to his belief the award he received was not earned prior to announcement

One last remark, it should be noted the significance of the subject is a lesson in life and "the right thing to do'. We must without apology mention our concern for the strife between Israel and the Palestinian people.  We also do not condone any violence between the two people (nations).  The developer of the following remembrance may not appreciate this thought, but we do not support what appears as oppression against the Palestinian people. And, lobbing rockets into Israel is terrorism and perpetrators should be dealt with the harshest of direct retribution.

We present the following with a quote from the screed as our underlying motive for posting.

"........... because there are others who would like to do it again". The very reason we do "remembrance" postings.

Remembrance as I received it!

The prize doesn't always go to the most deserving.

Irena Sendler
Died 12 May 2008 (aged 98)
Warsaw, Poland

During WWII, Irena, got permission to work in the Warsaw ghetto, as a plumbing/sewer specialist.

She had an 'ulterior motive'.

She KNEW what the Nazi's plans were for the Jews (being German).

Irena smuggled infants out in the bottom of the tool box she carried and she carried in the back of her truck a burlap sack, (for larger kids).

She also had a dog in the back that she trained to bark when the Nazi soldiers let her in and out of the ghetto.

The soldiers of course wanted nothing to do with the dog and the barking covered the kids/infants noises.

During her time of doing this, she managed to smuggle out and save 2500 kids/infants.

She was caught, and the Nazi's broke both her legs, arms and beat her severely.

Irena kept a record of the names of all the kids she smuggled out and kept them in a glass jar, buried under a tree in her back yard.

After the war, she tried to locate any parents that may have survived it and reunited the family.

Most had been gassed. Those kids she helped got placed into foster family homes or adopted.

Last year Irena was up for the Nobel Peace Prize.

She was not selected.

President Obama won one year before becoming President for his work as a community organizer for ACORN

and

Al Gore won also --- for a slide show on Global Warming.

It is now more than 60 years after the Second World War in Europe ended.

This e-mail is being sent as a memorial chain, in memory of the six million Jews, 20 million Russians, 10 million Christians and 1,900 Catholic priests who were murdered, massacred, raped, burned, starved and humiliated!

Now, more than ever, with Iran, and others, claiming the HOLOCAUST to be 'a myth'.

It's imperative to make sure the world never forgets, because there are others who would like to do it again.

In Remembrance Of A Great Nation..No Not The US

Touch the Clouds
Touching The Clouds - Lakota Nation

The Wounded Knee Massacre took place today in the year 1890 (Just days after one of the the holiest days of the Judeo Christian Faith).

We take time to remember yet another horror of US History.  After decades of fulfillment of US "Manifests Destiny", the US Army was ordered to attack and annihilate one of the last tribes of Native Original People of North America.

This remembrance is not a short read. Neither is the US Constitution.  There are times when a people must look upon their past and recognize that we have history that includes horror that stand alongside some of history's worse (Adolf Hitler, Pol Pot, et al). How many Native Americans were killed during Manifest Destiny?

Yahoo Answers....

How many Native Americans did we kill throughout history?

....that's quite a bit of revisionist history there in one answer. the accidental spread of diseases only accounted for deaths in the first 100 years. the next 400 years showed military campaigns and legislation designed to "do away with the indian problem". these were deliberate acts of genocide including the forced sterilization of our women up until the 1980s, the removal of our children to be given to white families to raise which only stopped in 1973, the stealing of our children and placing them in residential schools where tens of thousands of them were killed and countless others sexually and physically molested. but hey...as long as some people can believe we just "dropped dead for no apparent reason" then i guess they can sleep well at night. disgusting.

...the real facts are this: there were between 50 - 100 million indigenous people in north america, pre contact. by 1890 there were only 250,000 natives in USA alone. in all of north america 95% of the native population was killed.

We must also recognize overt genocide against segments of our population may constitutes a history we may never revisit, yet there are elements in our society who wish for absolute power. They want power beyond their extensive wealth, beyond their rights to do things we can only cream about, beyond their insulation from the laws we so very much adhere to, and power to force their will on others. Power corrupts and those same people do not hesitate to practice their powerful privilege.  Privilege that you and I, like it or not (believe it or not) do not share.

To the visitor who insist on leaving comment about our, or my, paranoia, the visitor should be reminded their privilege is only as exhaustive as the powerful will allow. I further direct the critical visitor as follows....
Martin Niemöller, a prominent Protestant pastor who opposed the Nazi regime. He spent the last seven years of Nazi rule in concentration camps. Germany, 1937.
Martin Niemöller, a prominent Protestant pastor who opposed the Nazi regime. He spent the last seven years of Nazi rule in concentration camps. Germany, 1937.Martin Niemöller (1892-1984) was a prominent Protestant pastor who emerged as an outspoken public foe of Adolf Hitler and spent the last seven years of Nazi rule in concentration camps.Niemöller is perhaps best remembered for the quotation:

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out--Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me--and there was no one left to speak for me.
